This game is pure So Much Win

I played almost 6 hours straight yesterday and I can't wait this evening when my kids to go back to sleep to continue Very Happy

Or maybe I can just do "safe" stuff like fishing, hunting, foraging, ... while they are watching me playing...

Hunting safe? Like twisting a little rabbit's neck? Laughing

Local shop's copies came in today so that's good.

I like how it looks visually except for the faces which kinda seem out of place. Either too shiny or just weird looking on the detailed bodies.

Its so funny when the horse collides with an object and Arthur is catapulted into the air. Happened to me yesterday whilst I was transporting some random woman and we both went flying! She then ran off and I failed the objective lol.

Some useful tips. I didnt know about this one.

Quote:
Cycle through interaction options with the shoulder button.

Sometimes when you’re in a confined space and want to pick something up, you’ll find that you’re stuck with the interaction prompt for another nearby object. You want to pick up those cigarettes, not sit down! Fortunately you can press the right shoulder button to cycle through possible targets; you’ll see a prompt next to the interaction button as well as a couple of little white dots that indicate how many options you have. Cycle them to find what you want.

And good to know ...

Well I've played for six hours or so, this is one excellent game. As I said earlier, it does not feel like a game at all. There are some moments which give it a true movie vibe. It also looks beautiful IMO, I'm impressed by the atmosphere and visual detail. All the slow things should bother me, they would probably with any other game, but with this one it feels natural and not out of place.
The fuckers did it again, they've set a new standard. Unless it goes to shit later on, this'll be my GOTY.

I like the game quite a lot but its not without quirks.
It seems about as overrated as god of war was few months ago meaning I like them as 9/10 games but not 10/10. Both games have amazing production values, chatacters, atmosphere and so on but some questionable chores. At least this one don't have stupid destiny loot levels like god had for whatever reason.

I've played about 10 hours so far and it feels like 7 out of those was me either tapping or holding the x button. Riding to a quest is a 5 minutes of mashing that button on a horse. I see a wagon and want to sell it? 10 minutes of driving it and holding x in cinematic camera mode (roads stick in cinematic mode). Is there fast travel? Am I missing something?
The random small quests and views along all this x mashing are ok but the world feels a bit too big and I am already riding back and forth the same roads.
I also don't like the collection aspect of the game. I have plenty of meat, potions and a whole bunch of shiiiit in inventory and given to camp. Why? This don't matter and feels artificial. Sure I have ammo shop and medical shop in camp now but why? I have constant 200 ammo for rifle just picked of dead bodies.

The music, graphics, detail, atmosphere, characters, story - all are incredibly amazing and every mission is genuinely different and interesting. I want to do every mission since it's great but why do I have to bother with x mashing/holding, eating and a whole buttload of inventory?
On top of that, the game have so many functions and possible actions, the ui struggles and there are a lot button modifiers. Controls are overloaded.

I still enjoy it greatly and its an amazing game but I wish it was "simpler" like rdr1. Why do we need all those mechanics and systems? Some Feel like chores.

And btw - tech wise, the game is mind blowing. Holy shit

Edit: forgot to add - bounty system suuucks. No more open world shenenigans or you have to sneak to post office and pay hundreds. Wwwtttfffffff. And I am wanted in the middle of nowhere and have to wait 3 minutes until wanted status goes away and mI can start another mission

Why do all the other devs do it?

@KillerCrocker: While I do understand what you're saying, I commend Rockstar for having the balls to not turn this into an action game. I don't experience this as an action game personally, it's some kind of weird game/movie synergy IMO. Everything takes effort in this game, I like that. I never liked survival (things like eating and drinking) in any game since it all feels artificial, but in this one it feels right, it fits.

It was a genuine question, I have no idea why they do it. God of War also allows 1080p/60fps, it was great.

This is right. The game is a detailed unskippable simulation of everything You can and have to do. Its unique, atmospheric and amazing looking. Gta iv and rdr were action games with realistic take on physics and animations. This extends idea to total immersion simulation...
Its not crazy gta open world and action.

I feel this micromanagement simulation is biggest strength or weakness... I love it for immersion but ... Why

There’s a fast travel option you can unlock in camp.

I did almost all of my non-manual travel in Red Dead 2 either by using the cinematic camera or, occasionally, by buying a train ticket. However, if you’d prefer a somewhat more traditional open-world fast travel system, you can unlock one as a camp upgrade. You have to upgrade Dutch’s tent first, which unlocks an upgrade to Arthur’s tent that lets him fast-travel from camp. It’s pricey—you'll pay triple digit fees for both upgrades combined—but worth it if you want to get around more quickly.

I hate fast travel in any game and refuse to use it Smile

You can also travel with the cinematic mode without holding a button. Just make sure youre going at the right speed, on the waypoint path and push forward whilst enabling the cinematic camera ... I think.

I hope they put in a tub in the camp later on.

Still haven't unlocked fast travel so too lazy to go to town.

Currently Arthur looks like a methhead.

Cinematic mode fast travel has been annoying for me since I usually go for a piss when I have it set and have to hurry my piss when I hear that rival gang ambushing me or something.

I kill a legenday bear and put it's hide in the back of my horse, heading back to camp.

Then everything goes wrong. I have this habit of antagonizing people I see. I am blocked off by a bridge of people that I antagonize and they kill me AND my horse. So no more horse or bear.

Then when I respawn I go to steal another horse and it kicks my ass back to death.

Why do they lock it? Not all of them do. The latest Tomb Raider allows you to choose between 30/4K or 60/1080

They probably cannot afford to run the physics, AI and euphoria at 60 FPS due to a CPU bottleneck but have GPU headroom available to increase the resolution.

Hell, it even drops below 30 at times so I don't wanna see this running uncapped, it'd be all over the place.

God of War and Tomb Raider are way simpler so they have no problem increasing the framerate of the simulation.
