This topic is turning into a 12 year old kiddy fest. Penises, rich people? jeez guys, for me to read this and try to find some useful information about the game or some interesting opinions is very hard. In any case, i hope that beth releases some more footage of the game as there hasn't been any for a while, so i'm a bit skeptical. I haven't played morrowind, is it worth to try it? or will i just be turned off by the gfx?

morrowind has a great story and at the time the graphics were amazing.
But i think you won't like the graphics and therefor think the game will suck. [because its an older game  )
but try for yourself hehe |

Oh shit, I want to comment on the rich thing.
I don't know how you people see it but if I have a uber pc it makes me rich? I might get paid the same salary like the average do but spend more money for pc parts than others. I'm waiting for M2 AMD processors but I'm skipping the mobile phone buying for this. I'll stick to what I have because I would pay my extra cash for a pc part than a new mobile phone. This is about priorities. Of course rich people don't have to worry about buying a new pc than a mobile phone. They get both.

totally agree. i have a very averagely paid job and manage to have a top spec pc,a spending hungry wife and a baby(they are never cheap and it gets wiorse as they age). even while i was a student a managed this. its the average student will moan about cash tec but get blind drunk every weekend or more, smoke an ounce of hash a week etc.
back OT when is the actual release date for oblivion and what protection are we guessing?if its gonna be a shite unplug drives nonsense im buying this. |
Not that I mean to get myself involved in the rich/e-penis muck of this thread, but drinking/smoking for college students does not necessarily have to be financially burdensome. The solution: rich or heavily smoking/drinking friends to smoke/drink with. If you're an interesting enough person to be around and hang out with, the wealthier ppl won't mind that you don't pay for the booze/weed, b/c you're keeping them company. I have friends like that, I drink/smoke 1-2 times a week on average and very rarely pay for either. It's not really parasitism either, since you're providing something that's more valuable than what you consume to the person: company/entertainment. You may proceed to flame me now.
As for Oblivion, I believe everything you could possibly say about a game has been echoed several times in this thread, it's deteriorated to the point where the off-topic chatter is more interesting than the subject matter. |

The way it should work, is that sometimes your friends pay for the booze, sometimes you do. If it's all one way you're not true friends.

Well, money is always a problem for me too. So I picked up a Sapphire X1600 Pro 256mb AGP. It will arrive on Tuesday. I have a 9800 Pro 128mb right now. I am hoping I won't have to much trouble playing Oblivion on medium settings. I have also been looking into ATI Tool for overclocking, which a very nice little program. Rumors over at Guru3D have it that the X1600 Pro will overclock from 500 gpu to 650 and 780mem to 850!! I am going to have to mod my X1600 to do so as the stock fans are loud and probably won't provide sufficient cooling. Anyone have a X1600 Pro 256 AGP? It looks like a great card for $149. I must admit that my 9800 held up very well. I was able to make it through October 2005 ok. I didn't even have my 9800 OC'd!! LOL! I didn't go with the PCIE version because I would have to get a new mobo and processor along with the card. Damn! there's that money thing again!
Some more Oblivion media and news would good though. They are tight lipped.

Yes, that is good idea for sure. I didn't get this card just for Oblivion though. I bought it for all the games I am playing right now. I want to enjoy SM3.0 also. Really looking forward to BFMEII. I just want to be able to play at a higher quality level.

Usually, yes. But when your friend earns $650 a week for pretty much sleeping on the job 98% of the time and doing $6 an hour work the rest, and doesn't mind paying for the booze (not just myself, the dude pays for everyone) it's acceptable. How would you define "true friends" anyway, because in my definition true friends are ppl that keep things going smoothly (incl paying for shit) depending on the collective situation rather than each person's individual situation. If he were unemployed and I were earning as much, I would do the same for him. It's a matter of perspective. |

Most people don't want to wait though, they want Oblivion as soon as possible (i'm one of them) so getting an upgrade after release is not an option. Although i am waiting until much closer to it's release date.

i miss the days when a release date actually meant something, you could COUNT on a game being release on or atleast close to it's release date.

Cool, I will have to look into the Zalman and Nibitor. Right now I am using tie strips to put two 3.5 inch fans on my 9800. I tried OC'ing my 9800 last night and it only made it to 400gpu and 325mem. Oh well, today is the day! Looking forward to finishing Quake 4 with the x1600 Pro. I am on the tram towards the end of the game. I thought I would wait for the x1600 for the finale! Hopefully I am almost done because I want to play FEAR before BFMEII and Empire At War come out. Once those two games come out it will be over a month before I play any FPS! Then Oblivion should be out! SWEET!
