I was expecting asset/map re-usage in such a game, so that's not a big problem. I also still hate Unity and think it's a crap engine, but the gameplay itself is great.

I'd love a proper isometric RPG with innovation, but I think those dreams are long dead. The last time I truly expected innovation and greatness was when a DA:O sequel was announced, it turned all to shit. These days, I expect zero innovation from these titles. Sad, but I'm having fun.

@vurt

Only the very optional wilderness areas and your generic villages, which you barely ever visit, are the same/similar, not all of them and that's being reworked anyway. It's not like DA2, where main quests were done in the same 4 maps. Main quest and side quest areas are all unique maps.

I don't mind the lack of innovation, if the gameplay is solid. And here it is.

But is it really solid?
The difficulty balance is totally broken. The game is either way too hard or becomes way too easy. With the way difficulty is handled being very artificial.
Some of the gameplay design choices are questionable to say the least. Like your party moving in combat as if all the members are encumbered, while enemies move like they have haste.
The combat lacks the tactical depth of the RTwP games of old.

I could go on, but I think I made my point. This is definitely the best RPG I played this year, but I'm not so keen on closing my eyes to all the problems.

Ok. Well it does sound interesting. I see on various forums that a lot of people (who usually aren't easily impressed) really seems to enjoy it.

Has the bullshit difficulty been addressed at all in 1.1, or do you still run across enemies that are 100% immune to beginner party attacks (if you don't have a certain party make-up) 1 side-quest in? Also, the whole thing where you party gets insta-gibbed in a fight, then you reload a quicksave and that same fight your party insta-gibbs everyone, because dice rolls?

I have just started chapter 2 and the difficulty on normal has been challenging enough. I did have some difficult encounters but no impossible ones. I don't know how it compares to pre-1.1 though.

What's the smartest move with kingdom events? Do as much as possible?

Focus on dealing with the time limited problems first and do the projects in between.
Always return to the kingdom before the end of a month so you can assign the advisers to the new problems that will otherwise expire next month. This will not only help you deal with the problems but you won't miss on the kingdom's events.
Make sure you get as much kingdom stability as possible, this stat is extremely important.

I actually wrote a guide for this game that encompasses more basic stuff:

You mean the first one? It's extremely generous. I had 38 days left and I did everything.

Depends on what timer you are talking about.

For the curse timer at the hilltop, no, I dont think so, but its not that big of a deal, as you have 30 days to get there and take care of it, once it starts.

The hidden timers can be cheated around, albeit crudely. Using Cheat engine, you can shorten the time it takes to complete kingdom events. This allows you to give a cushion of time between some of the other hidden quest timers. I didn't like the 14 day locked in kingdom stat upgrade events, and, at a minimum, would shorten them to 1 day.

I thought the use of these hidden timers was really over the top. That lead me to use Cheat Engine for the first time. You can also edit saves, but it can be rather tedious.

So game is not still done / fixed / final, and they ask money for DLC. Hmm... never heard of that before.

Pathfinder: Kingmaker – Season Pass and DLC announced
20 NOVEMBER - THEZEISONSHA

DLC #1 - “The Wildcards” (Dec 6th 2015)
Ardent adventurers of The Stolen Lands will soon have the chance to play the first new DLC! Featuring a new playable race Tieflings, a new playable class Kineticists, and of course combining a race with a class, you get a character! Prepare to welcome your new companion, the Tiefling Kineticist who comes, just like every other companion, with her own rich and engaging storyline. Oleg Shpilchevsky, Head of Owlcat Games explains, “A new playable race. During the poll to decide which bonus race we were going to add to the game, one particular option was requested a lot (besides the winner - Aasimars): Tieflings, the people with a drop of demonic blood in their veins. They didn't make it into the base game but became the natural choice for the first piece of post-release content.”

DLC #2 - “Varnhold's Lot”(Feb 2019)
A new bonus campaign. While celebrating your victory at Jamandi Aldori's mansion, you've met another hero of the Stolen Lands: the mercenary captain Maegar Varn. While you're building your barony in the Shrike Hills and Narlmarshes, Varn and his people are establishing their own nation of Varnhold in the rocky foothills of Dunsward. What did they have to face? Play this new story and export the consequences of the choices you've made there into the main campaign! This exciting new side story is about the size of one chapter of our main campaign and will take 6-12 hours to complete, depending on your playstyle.

DLC #3 – “Beneath The Stolen Lands”(Apr 2019)
A new game mode. Sometimes you want to play a story with memorable characters, rich lore, and a complicated set of choices and consequences. But then there are days when you just want to grab a sword, cast some spells, and destroy a horde of monsters! This DLC will introduce a rogue-like randomly generated endless dungeon, complete with a new unique boss. You can explore it in a separate game, or as a part of your main campaign. How deep can you go

It's not a critical success, it's actually rated poorly by critics.
Gamers also aren't happy, it has a "recent" score of 58% on Steam and "all-time" score of 66%. Both are "Mixed".
(Critics did rate the game slightly higher than gamers did, 68 on opencritic and 71 on metacritic)

I can see why people are a bit peeved by the DLC being released at this time, I think they wanted to see more work being done before paying for a season pass.

I still have so much on my backlog, I can wait for this to be polished.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I didn't encounter a bug in 18 hours

Is there a fast way to travel from the throne room to the worldmap? I also don't understand the borders of my barony. How do I see where the border is when I'm on the worldmap?
Do I have to be in the city physically to trigger events?

Lucky bastard!

There is no way to travel from the throne room to the world map.
When you are exploring on the world map, check for a button on the right side of the screen, it triggers a minimap. Check if this has the borders.
You have to enter the throne room in order to trigger a pending event.

They focused on fixing the bugs at the front end of the game first. So, what bugs are left, will be more noticeable in the last 1/3 or so. I'm sure you can find a list of current reported bugs on the Owlbear or Steam forums.

Exit to World Map: There is a mod that allows you to do this from anywhere with a hotkey you set up. Be aware, you still need to exit through the city every now and then, as there is occasionally an event waiting (one in each chapter, maybe?).

THanks for the info. I checked that mini-map but I can't see any borders on it. Not that much of a problem, but now it's a bit of guesswork how close I have to be to my city to trigger that kingdom button in the bottom.
So I have to travel back to the city every month to trigger events?

You have to travel back to the capital if you have pending events, but you'll most likely have and some of them expire.
