Every time a rising power challenges the ruling power war tends to break out. These days that mean USA and China of course, luckily China is a peaceful country.
As long as the EU stands, there will be no world war.

Considering how interconnected everything is these days, a major war is not happening. In the end, money always is the first priority. No one will endanger that.
