are you people just guessing or do you know? i did some comparison images between the 2, and if anything, the 'dvdscr' is overcropped on the sides.

if this IS a dvdscr, then all they did was crop JUST the 'property of...' sequences, and then splice them back in... if thats the case, then BOOOOOO at them for their dvdrip bs, but reasonably sized props to their creativity in removing an annoyance, without causing any collateral damage to the rest of the film.

here are the comparison images i took, from cd1, 1st rar. dvdscr on top, 'dvdrip' on bottom.
the only 'adjusting' i did,was i resized the dvdrip images to the same resolution as the dvdscr, for a better comparison.

when you use your brain , then you know , that this release is not a real dvdrip .

- the movie started worldwide on december 2005 in the cinemas
- 5-6 months later ( from the cinema start ) come the dvd
- this release ist 23.97 fps ( ntsc )
- the date for the ntsc retail dvd is not confirmed yet , this mean the retail dvd is not pressing yet
- the ntsc dvd will come may/june ( for a real date for the dvd start you look from time to tiome here : http://www.dvdactive.com/home/ )

i never claimed it was retail, simply questioning if the source was the same... i also offered up the likely solution that only parts were cropped... so no need to get upset about it fenris.

either way it doesn't matter, its free, enjoy it for what it is, king kong with 5.1 audio.

the rls for the r1 in fact is set at march 28th - see here: http://www.davisdvd.com/news/news.html

if you use your brain, you'd thank chiv for his comparison and probably come to the sensible conclusion that the GOD release is probably a message-free-dvdscr from a different source, which whilst not strictly a retail dvdrip does in fact qualify as indiscernable from one.

good post chiv Smile

Did you do the comparison between DVDSCR and DVDRIP , when the messages are on the dvdscreener .
Maybe it is zoomed in just only when those messages are on the screen .

seems my original assumption that it was a unique unmarked screener *seems* to be correct, take a look:

http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/1592/dvlscreener6js.jpg

now can we all just accept that its not a retail dvdrip, but it is most likely an unmarked and possibly PRIVATE dvd... okie?

so yeah, enjoy these latest comparisons, they are NOT mine as i dont have the whole thing yet, but i thought id bring them to you guys so you can feel confident in grabbing this MOST excellent release.

laters.

This has to be fake. It was reported on CNN that King Kong is going to only be released on HD-DVD to jumpstart the sale of HD-DVD players and start the war between HD and BR.

If anyone has news otherwise please post it.

Your both wrong about June and HD-DVD only. Comes out end of March. The 28th to be exact. Will be available in both a single disc version and a 2-disc version. http://www.davisdvd.com/news/news.html scroll down and you'll see it. And remember it's 2006. Movies usually take like 4 months or less to come out on dvd now.

it would be financial suicide to release such a huge expensive movie on a brand new format that will take a while before it becomes established...

whats with all this complaining anyway? what are we trying to decide? dvd release date, or quality of the release? should it be nuked? im not sure on the rules but i guess it should be nuked for not being a retail dvd source, but the bottom line is that this is a flawless rip from a blemish free dvd source, and is of such high quality that can easily compete with most dvdrips... id be happy for it to be unnuked everywhere, because they didn't try to decieve by overcropping or any of that crap

this is a flawless release, and will be the BEST you will see till the retail dvdrip... and even then, i doubt it would look any better than this release, heck, it'll probably be a 2cd release again, without ac3... no thanks...

side-note, single disc and double disc releases surprise the hell out of me for a film of this scope... i expect to see a late november deluxe release to really milk this film... a nice 3 or 4 disc set with heaps of extras, probably many from the KK diaries dvd set. ill wait for that.

I wouldn't really be surprised if they release a 4 disc set later on with the production diaries. But I don't really care for them.

Oh yeah I do too and I buy the best edition of a movie. But the production diaries are already out so a 4 disc set with them I wouldn't rush out to buy it.

Argueing over its actual DVD retail date is pointless ,
as we have seen in the past with Shrek 2 , the retail dvdrip dvdr hit the scene at around the same time as it hit cinemas , there was a cam a TS then BOOM a dvdrip.

so films retail date aint really a good judge on when we get a rip

be nice if it was real , but i am holding judgement till i see a dvdr

i can tell you now, this is not a retail dvd source. its unmarked dvdscr (not a tc as someone actually suggested... Very Happy), check cd3, zoom in on kongs face. i see a slight shifting happening in the image as it zooms in, like its degrading or having problems keeping the motion smooth... this isn't retail... so for THIS reason alone, the release should be nuked, because 'dvdrip' to me, means retail, which this isn't... overcropping or oversized, are pathetically stupid reasons for nuking this in my opinion.

if your a perfectionist, youll probably buy the super ultimate dvd near the end of the year like i will be. if you love quality but cant download too much and need to be picky in what you dl, wait till mid march and download the 'r1 retail real dvdrip', but if you want to watch this now in BRILLIANT visual quality and full 5.1 surround sound... well, if you wanted that, youd have given the finger to the nukers, and downloaded this allready...

Yeah cause the movie studio's web site updates it as soon as it's announced Rolling Eyes. I've visit dvdactive.com, davisdvd.com, thedigitalbits.com, etc. often and they are usually never wrong. thedigitalbits.com also says 3/28. Movie studio's web sites usually don't update it until the official press release which has all the extras, cover art, etc. All we have now is an official date. While looking at that list I saw Jarhead. I remember the same thing happened with the date. Date was announced, no extras or cover shown, couple of weeks later we finally get the cover and extras. Hell March 28th isn't unrealistic. Walk the Line comes out February 28th. Hell even with that go to fox.com and go to the dvd section. It's not even listed there yet even though the date, cover and extras have been anounced/shown.

As for this being an official dvdrip I do not know. I'm just talking about the dvd release date.
