Fallout 76 faceplanting is the best case scenario for fallout fans since if fallout 76 had been a sucess that might have been the end for sp fallout games. so good riddance
@Immunity: so a group of players gets harassed by some random group of players and it's their fault
That right there is sort of the scary mindset I'm talking about. "Harassment" in a game is not, and has never been, a thing. People have ALWAYS been dicks in MP games. It's part of the experience. You can either put up with it, take part via throwing it right back at them, or put them on ignore/mute/change instance and carry on your way (if 76 lacks an ignore/voice mute functionality, which is a basic feature, that's on Bethesda).
Now, if the guy shows up at his home or place of work, then you've got a different matter entirely. That's what I would call harassment and a credible threat. Online shit talking/griefing in a GAME? Fuck no.
The whole mentality of running to mommy and daddy (in this case social media) every time some minor "wrong" has been committed is whats gotten us here in the first place. It's a very slippery slope we're sliding down.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Oh my goodness - someone was being a tard over voice chat dickin' around? You don't say! Whatever shall we do?!! Ignore them? Nah, that's steppin' on my privilege! Mute them? That would require for the lazy fucking programmers at Bethesda to implement a feature! I know, ban them forever!!!
Pretty soon voice chat is going to be eliminated altogether in MP games and in order to type something in text chat you're going to have to submit it in triplicate to an approval committee, along with a $15 processing fee (or, $35 if you'd like them to get back to you the same day).
Hell, Battlefield 5 is completely indistinguishable from Nazi era jack booted censorship. Anything you can think to type, insult or not, has a good chance of being filtered.
These perpetually offended fuck sticks (regardless of whatever gender or orientation they "identify" as) need to do the world a favor and find themselves a nice, long rope and sturdy tree. I'm tired of every fucking form of expression being stripped away in swathes while everyone claps their hands in the name of "rights". These people make Stalin look like a fucking saint.
They are lucky not being jailed, it is a HATE crime isn't it? I'm still new to newspeak though...
Just reading a reddit post about the leak. Sounds like they could get fucked over if this GDPR policy has been triggered :-
Lower-level violations can merit a fine of €10 million or two percent of the violator’s worldwide annual revenue, whichever is higher. That’s revenue, as in income before expenses. A more serious violation can result in a fine of €20 million, or four percent of the violator’s annual revenue — again, whichever is higher. Individuals can also face fines for GDPR violations if they use other parties’ personal data for anything other than personal purposes.
It sounds like this falls into the latter as credit card numbers and addresses were leaked.
lmao reading that thread on the beth forums, it seems like the community manager locked it but people could still post in a locked topic so she edited her post and took out the part where she said she locked it after it was 'resolved'
though now i regret it because that sirnahme dude shilling is so stupid it's sort of pissing me off
just got to the part where he claims you have to cache secure info and when he is corrected just goes, 'so you don't know what caching is then or what it's for, gotcha'
lol
does bethesda pay people to defend them? because caching your support tickets? really? sounds legit
he's saying it's not a gdpr issue as well even after a lawyer (though admittedly one can't tell if that's true) told him otherwirse
i can speak for the caching thing though as that's something i have to do for some projects at work, and there is no good reason to cache your backend support system
maybe that's spinmeister pete and he's now trying out a new form of pr

A lot of it is amplifying small things though. Your Youtube vid sounded very shady but the actual changes are pretty small - it's mainly tweaking the game to balance it more. Unless they start selling stuff in their Atom store that makes grinding shorter, it's not much of an issue.
Also: I bought it for €18 since I was tired of seeing all the news without being able to see it first hand. From what I heard, it's a good game for those who like exploration and I do - it's my main fun in the Fallout games and the world is said to be pretty big so I'm sure I'll get my money worth.
Initial impressions:
- it took an hour and a half to get it set up the way I like - a dozen INI edits to change FOV, turn off mouse acceleration, disable FOD, etc.
- it took THREE tries before I could even start a game the first time - kept loading for ages. It also dumped me out of the game several times and when I logged back in, I found myself 100 meters away from where I was before and enemies were respawned + unlooted corpses were gone. Not impressed
- base building is incredibly unintuitive since it's completely designed around a gamepad - like so many things in this game, in fact.
- if you rebound your keys like I did, half the shortcuts stop working because moron Bethesda keeps hard coding them. Even though the on-screen prompt says "press T" it doesn't do anything. WHY???? People complained about this crap as far back as Skyrim! What lazy asshole working at Bethesda still can't bother to fix this?
- Performance is a bit of a joke. I get 30-40fps on a 1070 Ti.
On the plus side, it mostly plays like FO4 except now it feels more grounded it being online. Bethesda will be forced to keep it as balanced as possible so I assume they'll avoid you becoming massively overpowered the way you could become in FO4.
Also, I like being able to build camps everywhere - if they put more effort into the camps the way games like Empyrion, 7 Days to Die, etc. have done, they could attract the "PvE builders" crowd which I'm part of. FO4 was really shit in that even the best home looked run down and ugly. In 7 Days to Die, you get to explore and loot and basically end up with really massive bases that look amazing. That's the biggest appeal of the game and mixed with Fallout universe, it could be brilliant but somehow I think Bethesda will aim at the "Me want shoot stuff, me want blood and violence" 10 year old crowd.
