While I find it beyond moronic from Ubisoft, to not release the game on steam, in the end, it won't change from buying or not buying for me personally. I would simply buy it for uplay anyway. I do that with all my Ubisoft titles. I don't need steam or anything else, just so I have to launch uplay anyways lol.

But yeah, Epic is cancer. Fortnite is an embarrassment to gaming culture and their shop is nothing but sucking publisher cock. Hope the whole thing backfires on them lol.

Not bad, getting the resolution and framerate in for the different tiers is always nice to see.
Well then we'll actually have to wait and see how well it holds up in the game proper but it's better than MIN and REC and two incredibly divided hardware levels from some gens back to best-shit-money-can-buy.

I used to play TD when it came out but quit before the season pass content dropped.
A while ago I got the season pack but couldn't really get back into it.

Now I'm playing Destiny 2 non-stop. But with all characters at max level (and light level), even though I have the current year pass, I'm so ready for my next TD experience!

Even if it's the same game on a new map with some minor improvements, I'm ready! Smile

--

I do believe though, that after all the experience they've gained through TD, its tough times as well as improvements throughout its life time, that they apply this knowledge to TD2 and that this is going to be a great game. Smile

I think with The Division you either hate it or love it.

I have friends who bought the game, played with me for a while and then never touched it again.

On the other hand, I have more than 2000 hours in it and still having fun (mostly in DZ though Very Happy ).

For me it's the best game release over the past few years.

I played The Division 2 Tech Alpha as well and I liked it, it's a bit different than the first one and that's good.

The Division, how it is now and not as it was at release, is a proper, enjoyable "Loot shooter". So if you're into that, I think TD2 will continue to please.

Those who aren't into those games, well, there won't be anything new here Smile

Enjoyable is a broad term that doesn't mean the same for everyone.
Objectively speaking, The Division isn't such a great loot shooter:
- The shooting mechanics are not very good.
- The cover system is annoying and there's no option to crouch.
- Almost all guns sound like BB guns.
- Progression/skills are meh.
- The loot isn't all that interesting.
- The crosshairs are atrocious.
- There's no balance in PvP.
- After two years there's very little meaningful content with some of it being locked behind paid DLCs.

I could go on, but I don't see any reason to do so. By the looks of it, The Division 2 doesn't address all these problems.

The E3 demo looks alright...it's the E3 demo though. Razz

But yeah they lost something after removing the snowy setting and the overall visuals look kinda bland instead now even if the first game is still quite a showcase.
(And hell does it still require ALL THE HARDWARE!)

EDIT: Well the lightning is still going for this odd hazy winter day look which doesn't really fit does it?

EDIT: Also people don't really voice chat like that but then again no-one really told Ubi I guess or Massive as the dev studio behind the game.

But then there's PEGI and ESRB and well that's probably why they can't have the realistic voice chat.

Or they'd have the M rating for the media and High Impact Sexual Violence and all that stuff. Razz

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

Seems they are testing beta out internally. Got a mail for a playtest invite at Massive, not going to apply though. 3 days in a row and 1 day a week later for 7 hours a day. And you need to be available for all.

A bit much to commit to especially when I wasn't a fan of the first and the second one looked worse.

I don't know. All I am seeing is TD1 without the snow. This could have easily been a DLC for the first game if you ask me.

And without the snow, it looks so forgettable. It lost everything that made the snowdrop engine look so good (only the weather simulation was impressive in that D1).

BTW, why we speaking about this shit? It's not coming to PC anyway?

The game? It's hitting PC although Epic/UPlay (An important piece of the sale puzzle I suspect, retaining Orbit or Uplay as the client is called and not full exclusivity.) but for Steam I am expecting a year of exclusivity and probably no more. Still too big of a market to omit entirely.

The engine? I replayed it over the last week catching up to Rank5 and clearing some content as I was refreshing up on the game mechanics and story again, it's somewhat dated by now but the Snowdrop environment visuals are holding up though somewhat altered from the E3 reveal.

This looks more generic without said snow but I have not played the game myself yet so I can't compare the two directly.

As for what got scaled back the lighting and global illumination saw some changes as did the snow dynamics though part of it is still implemented albeit less dynamic and more scripted.

The almost 100% destructibility of objects is also in as is the dynamic deformation and impact in materials if the object can not be destroyed outright but for gameplay...this matters fuck all as the object is still treated as it's still there physically so yeah you can use a handgun (infinite ammo after all.) and drill holes through walls and just about anything but you can never shoot through said holes or use things tactically though it is still seriously impressive even if it serves little actual purpose.

Sequel here should see various graphical improvements but artistically the snow-covered New York setting will be missed and it's replaced by this springtime Washington D.C environment instead although I've only seen some private beta or alpha or what it was footage and the videos so far, textures and such are better as expected but it doesn't have the same feel anymore.

EDIT: Beyond the visuals though maybe not have everything be a tank this time? Well I know little of the gameplay changes too so well guess I'll see once more details are available when this next beta round starts and people inevitably start talking about it and sharing details.

Well I kinda agree really, there's too many good features from Steam itself to make Epic competitive in any way. (Hell there's better third party resell prices too. Very Happy Near half price compared to Steam is not a bad deal at all and this can probably be lowered even further.)

Same with UPlay and it's Orbit API it's improved but it doesn't compete against the feature set Steam offers, dual client nonsense but that's loosened up somewhat too allowing Steam to manage features like achievements lately although they aren't decoupling the framework entirely. Would be nice if Ubisoft was also more active with patching out DRM but eh that goes for like 90% or higher for all publishers even when it's truly no longer serving a purpose.

No-one probably wants half a dozen separate clients anyway all running in the background for the title to work although some competition can't really hurt but I do not like Epic's way of just changing shit some weeks before launch.
(Well there's one use for cracks even for legit purchases I suppose. Less background stuff running. Very Happy )

EDIT: Ubisoft is also heavily invested into GAAS (Sounds kinda funny put like that.) so the game should be much improved in a year anyway and it's not full out competitive either, Division, Wildlands, For Honor (Oglaf meme here.) and even Far Cry, Watch_Dogs and Assassin's Creed (Everything is permitted, including micro transactions!) all improved after some months of patches and content releases.
(DRIP FEED ALL THE CONTENT! Or well that's what Far Cry and AC Odyssey are kinda feeling like at the least. Not like the trend is entirely positive after all trying to keep players hooked but also continually investing into the game.)

EDIT: Then again the industry is what it is, maybe not rush out releases early could also help somewhat.

Snow setting was the best part of the first game. Now it rather looks generic.

Anyways, BETA details:

Quote:
