Average length is around 8 - 10 hours, RE2 itself was around 4 - 6 hours so it's not bad in that regard.
From a earlier image speedrunning works here too but instead of ~1:30 or what it was it seems the highest rank is somewhere around the 3:30 to 4 hour mark.
EDIT: I think Capcom mentioned 15 hours but the estimated completion times are usually a bit longer from developers though if you take your time it could probably be around 10 - 15 hours I suppose.
Original RE2 was short, but 4 hours long it was not. That would make scenario B like 3 hours long, since you are familiar with the game by then. Nah. I'd say 6+ is more like it. The average is also 5h 54m on: https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=7718 and I'm pretty sure the vast majority of those that play RE2 today to report their time on that website are people that played it at least once in the past and are familiar with it. I'd say back in the day a first playthrough would be 6-7, and for scenario B another 5-6 or so. (Then you are supposed to swap with whom of the two characters you start first, and finish it another 2 times if you want to see all variations of the story making it a 15+ hour experience, but not everyone would do that.).
and I fully intend to play this on the most difficult setting this time too.

First time playing RE2 (PSX), I'd say around 8hrs+ if you're reading and finding all the things
I think my quickest ever time was just under 2hrs (Leon), meaning it'd be around 4hrs for both characters if you really knew where everything was and where to go
Of course there were people beating it much quicker than 2hrs, but IMO they're completely unenjoyable speedruns
But to get Hunk/Tofu and the other unlockables you have to kinda speedrun I think beating under 2.5 Hours IIRC (or was it 1,5).
So, cheapest key as of now is 35€ @ cdkeys or has someone found it even cheaper ?
First time through might have been longer than I estimated, I do remember there being plenty of healing supplies and ammo everywhere particularly for Leon so subsequent playthroughs would shorten dramatically once you know where to go and what to pick up plus the puzzles.
(EDIT: Upgraded pistol does eat into handgun bullets though but later on they also become more plentiful and shotshells and the magnum bullets are abundant too as long as you don't start wasting them on weaker enemies though even then you can take most of them out.)
Same as the first game although yeah first time well it's going to be a bit longer since familiarity with the rooms and item locations will be a factor for re-running the game and optimizing what you can use where and where to restock.
But I do wonder how that affects things in this game since the enemies are still very clumsy and slow or at least the regular zombies but far sturdier now where instead of maybe 3x bullets it takes 4 - 6 and that's headshots.
(Finer non-tank like movement control and aim also makes it easier so maybe that's one reason the zombies are slightly sturdier too instead of waggling the up and down aiming to take their heads off.)
And ammo everywhere but the demo is also a showcase so they'd have to add a bit extra to let players try different things compared to the full game.
so how many campaigns are there? 3? leon, claire and ada? for who played the original, if leon is the main campaign, how does the two other work? is it more of an extension of the main campaign like they appear in main leon campaign then wonder off and now they get to show you where they went? like the evil within? or is it a new story? are the levels heavily reused?
Just played through the one-shot demo and managed to reach its end without rushing at all, I have to say I'm very impressed - I've never played RE2 and I can feel what a shame that is just with how good this little snippet was, I'm not proud of that but this remaster will be the perfect occasion to finally get to it
Runs perfectly smooth with a few options increased from the recommended preset on my ancient machine. Damn, it'll be hard to resist purchasing this

There are 2 campaigns, Leon and Claire.
You play for a bit Ada in Leon's campaign, and a bit Sherry in Claire's campaign, the same way you play for a bit Carlos in RE3, Steve in CV, Ashley in RE4, and Mia in RE7, in other words almost all of the games that followed RE2 do this, and those that don't (5, 6), it's because they have co-op, or you play 2 characters at once anyway (RE0).
Of course Ada became a fan favorite after the release of the game and especially RE4 where she appeared in her iconic - and ridiculous - red dress, and her role as a super spy during the RE2 events has been expanded in the Umbrella Chronicles and Darkside Chronicles retellings of the original games, so I expect her role to be a little bigger than in original RE2.
The levels were heavily reused, maybe there was 20% new areas or so, but most important cutscenes were new (some are the same), so you really had to play it with both characters to get the other half of the story.
It's like in RE1/make, where you had to play with both Chris and Jill to get the full story. If you only play as Chris, you only see Jill at the end of the game and you don't know what she went through with Barry etc. to get there. If you only play as Jill, you don't know shit about Chris' adventures with Rebecca. Same here.
(Actually it's a bit more complicated: If you played Leon first and then Claire, the story is a bit different than if you played Claire first and then Leon. To get the complete story you had to play it 4 times, Leon A/ Claire B and Claire A/ Leon B, although later games in the series are mostly based on the Claire A/ Leon B story, so that combination is viewed as the most canon and satisfactory to play if you don't want to play with both. But my understanding is the remake has only one Leon and one Claire campaign).
Item placement and puzzles also had differences and some times played with your expectations, a new boss (that was almost a prototype of Nemesis), kept popping up in scenario B, and choices you made in scenario A had effects in scenario B, and each character also has unique weapons, etc.
tl;dr Scenario B is the same game but satisfyingly remixed, and it's the other half of the story.

Potentially contains spoilers so tagged just to avoid accidentally spoiling anything.
Spoiler:
Capcom also hinted at a extra scene after finishing both Leon and Claire's campaigns, guess we will see.
Probably sooner rather than later now with the game out in retail stores particularly from the UAE / Saudi Arabia.
Also:
(Smaller but still possibly a spoiler this one in regards to in-game content not making it.)
Spoiler:
Spiders got cut as a enemy type, usually hung out in the sewer area in the original RE2 as I recall it but could pop up in a few other locales I think.
Also 2 days later and still no credible pictures for fixed camera? I'm thinking that menu screenshot was fake after all.

So I guess being poisoned + blue herbs are also cut?
There are still (hopefully) the plants that can poison you very late in the game. And the document describing the herbs says that red + blue "produces a blend that will strengthen one's constitution", so that's a new combination of herbs in the series. (It probably raises your max health, a la the yellow herbs in RE4 and the steroids in RE7.)

Resetera members citing credible sources that already have a copy of the game said that crows, spiders, and the big-ass Moth have been cut. Ivies (plants) have a very different design. The same sources told them they didn't see any sign of fixed camera options, or any unlock-able Ada campaign, or the "Rogue" mode, that was datamined from the demo (it will likely be DLC, whatever it is).
In original RE2, crows and the moth were only in 1 room. And the spiders in just a few screens in the sewers. So it seems like a budget issue, I guess, i.e. not worth spending money to model, texture, and animate something that appears in just 1% of the game.

Reimagining is more appropriate, REmake was a remake, this is not as faithful.
Yeah, of course they have the freedom to change things up, but assuming something HAD to be removed entirely because of budget issues, be it an enemy, character, location, weapon, whatever, I guess they went after what was the least critical to the RE2 experience, i.e. enemies you barely saw.
But what can I say, there are several decisions taken with this game that I don't like and I've been vocal with them since the first trailer. From everything that I've seen, I think that for me there's no way in hell this game will replace RE2 - while REmake certainly has replaced the original. And this could have made it possible, as well. But it won't.
All I hope is that it is at least a decent survival horror experience.

The atmosphere is a little.. weird? The voice acting is somewhat stilted. It's Resident Evil alright! despite being modernized.
As for differences to RE2, I will only talk about 1 thing:
Spoiler:
It's disappointing to see that from the car crash to the RPD - where the demo begins - it's barely a minute of gameplay of running almost straight in the street to the RPD.
Now, we know that the Kendo gunshop is in the game, and since it wasn't in the first 15 minutes, it means they have moved it after the RPD, and maybe they have done the same with other locations too. Still, can't feel but be disappointed because the original dash to the RPD through several streets of Racoon and seeing the total mayhem that was going on, was such an iconic opening.
BTW, in the opening montage Yasuhiro Anpo (REvelations 2) was named co-director. I like that game so I'm hoping for something good.

Correct, you don't in the B of the original, but it's scenario A you play first, and its intro gameplay leaves a very strong impression. But in the re-do it's short and not nearly as memorable.

The standard one was already a pew-y walk in the park, assisted must be like some sort of Resident Evil light gun edition with infinite ammo and (auto-applying) herbs xD

Bowgun cut as well. Now that was a shitty weapon, but they could have made it better instead of removing it.
