Why did you link this video? The guy doesn't even get why people are mad or "hating" as he says it. Maybe he missed the fact that Metro Exodus was available to pre-order on Steam for a while just to be pulled out before release. Maybe he missed the fact that Epic Store isn't customer oriented at all.
I posted it also as a source for the quote "steam is lowering their cut from 30 to 20%"

That guy seems a lil bit slow.
I think most ppl know about the revenue split about now lol
And the fact that metro costs 50 dollars in the u.s. doesnt change the fact that Metro doesnt seem to have any regional pricing so they are actually fucking over poorer regions to get better publicity in the u.s.(costs 60 dollars converted in the local currency)
As i said rearlier guess the nvdiai brand deal and season pass moeny isnt enough they need ALL the money.
There is a darksouls like game that got released last year in October on Discord named Sinner.
There is a trhead about it that got bumped recently.
The game obviously faceplanted on discord and now they come crawling back while the hype or publicity died long time ago.
Way to go. Hope that shit like that happens to all exclusivity deal publishers/games.
They could have alternatively jsut put the game on the epic store and steam and made it cheaper on the epic store if their main goal had been to fight for the devs/publishers rights and a fair split.

I'm sure now that they have to pay a lesser cut, games are going to reduce in price like when they stopped having physical boxes.
Some Youtuber said it costs 50 dollars on the Epic store instead of 60 on steam preorders.
It's great that they make it cheaper for Americans because screw everyone else.
Meanwhile, you can already get Resident Evil 2 for 39€ on Steam through GMG. I'm sure Epic will do 35% discounts 4 days after release on AAA games.

I've said it before, and will say it again, expect many more games to go to Epic. I've already heard about some other (some big) titles moving away from Steam completely because of costs and Steam's terrible support. Valve would need to greatly lower costs (5% after 10M in sales isn't cutting it Valve!) and actually provide any support and help.
I would hope nobody is dumb enough to think they would do it without Epic throwing around money.
I actually got it from CDKeys :-/ Even more confusing now...
cdkeys now says Epic store instead of Steam DRM, so you might wanna check with them before its out.
I asked them yesteday evening and I got this answer:

Looks like people are literally this dumb.

Another youtuber that lacks perspective. Epic is giving publishers money for exclusive deals. Also, a publisher with a questionable history like Ubisoft, would do anything to avoid having user reviews on the store page of its products.
Apparently Steam also slashed the 30% cut they take down to 20%.
but yeah I don't plan on registering on their store, because of shit like this

The idiot also missed the fact that the Division 2 is not "exclusive" to the Epic Store. You can also order it on UPlay
well youtubers gets some some cut from every purchase linked through them and with 1K subs access to games on the store ... so its obvious what they will shill for
I just can't turely understand, whatsap with all the steam abandoning in favore for epic store lately?
Not just Metro, some games like COD became Battlenet exclusive.
Some say it's Epic paying up but I am not enterly sure cuz some games didn't came to nither Steam nor Epic store, So it may be partly true.
I still think it one of the dickest move in gmaing history, but I am trying to understand what's going on.
COD makes sense since Activision owns Blizzard so Battlenet is essentially Activision's version of EA Origin. I am surprised they did not do that sooner but Activision really is not really releasing as many PC games anymore other then COD it seems.
... support from Steam is just piss poor by any measure.
too bad support (at least for customers) isnt any better with epic (at least from my experience) ... and so far Epic was the only one with security good enough to manage to leak even my adress and CC number
But well i will leave that account to that kind fella that took it ... 1 year wait is nothing with my backlog and much there is so many cool other games to throw my money at anyway
That entire post would be more impressive if Epic was managing the same amount of games, developers etc on the same level as Steam (30k titles last I heard). Epic has more time for support? No shit. They have a minuscule fraction of titles that Steam does, and far fewer features to worry about when it comes to support. Until they're on even ground, what is so impressive or alluring about Epic? Apart from the bribes/pay-offs of course. I assume they must be pretty epic.
I don't see much evidence for what Epic's support is like or if the perceived issues some people have are being fixed. We also have no numbers for sales that were on Steam vs once they've gone to Epic either. Is revenue generated on Epic's store offsetting Valve's cut?
Then there's the fact that the store itself has generated a lot of ill-will, so as a developer, you can combine that with less exposure and you have yourself a whole new set of problems.
You are also continually chiming in from the point of a developer. Nobody who buys games (with a brain) gives a shit about any of that.
Well, they're pretty quick so far in implementing things that devs/publishers want. How support ends up when they have a large number titles remains to be seen, but it cannot possibly be worse than on Steam right now. Sale numbers I don't have either, I suspect it's not so much as on Steam as it has a much larger user base of course but when more games move to it then the number of potential customers also increases. It all remains to be seen I guess. As a customer you should also care, if a large number of devs move to another platform and you want a game there's not much choice besides pirating. The more move, the more attractive the platform becomes.
FWIW, I'm not saying Epic Store is "the best thing ever", it's not. But it's just a fact that there are a lot of unhappy devs out there on Steam that would like a change. Sure, some of them are just a bunch of whiners but most have good and valid points and the communication and support from Steam is just piss poor by any measure.
I take a store that takes the opinions of customers over the devs any time.
Devs always try to pull a fast one on us gamers dunno what you expect from a store that grants them more power and burries the voice of the gamers (no reviews/forums etc)
So devs are fucking unhappy because they dont get all the money. Boo fucking hooo.
Prime example Metro.
Advertising the game as a steam game pulling out 2 weeks before release besides the nvdia etc brand deal and now the exclusivity deal not giving 2 fucks about the customers opinion.
Scummy af but good guy eppic will give them a higher cut oh wow.
Epic and 4a deserve all the backlash and all the lost revenue that comes with it.
Why does 4A Games deserve backlash? They didn't make this choice.

Well less cut is certainly a nice thing and will help a lot for many indies, but there are many more issues on Steam at the moment. How the migration from Steam to Epic is currently done for some games is odd, I think this was a rather last minute change, not sure how this'll work out for them.
Reviews are coming to Epic Store too by the way.
How can this be a last minute change if the keys packaged in the physical copies are epc keys?
Yeah reviews coming to Epic but according to the galyokin guy (podcast)
* Not everyone will be able to do a review rather people will be randomly appointed
*Extereme reviews will be automatically deleted ( Imagine someone writing a really angry review about a game that comes out in a state as Batman ArkhamKnight did so such a review would be deleted)
*Review Bombs will becircumvented through some mechanism (So yeah if a game like batman arkham knight or Ass Creed Unity comes out in a poor state you wont even know since most negative reviews would be filtered out)
*Devs have the chance to enable/disable the review system
*Devs can flag reviews for review by epic
Sounds like a shit review system to me that is completely built in a way that only mostly positive reviews will be out there.
So yeah totally not customer friendly nor oriented.
Let's see if epic can hold the lower cut percentages if the store grows as big as steam.
Costs for data etc increases exponentially.
Let's say I bought shadow of mordor goty and dlded at release (50 gb) deleted it) half a year later gave it another try dlded it but holidays came in the way and dlded it later again , besides the fact that the video and picture files on the store page get hosted by steam as well. This all costs money and you have to imagine that this happens for every game.
People dont just download a game once and are done with it. Even non customers who watch only the store page and the videos on it generate traffic.
There are sizewise bigger games that cost 1 dollar now and then. All the costs have to be offset.
The bigger the stores library get the higher(Exponentially) the costs for data traffic is rising. Not to mention refunds and steamworkshop downloads and other crap I didn't consider even.
Epic with it's 10 games on the store and no experience in running it can mouth of now but how will they act in the future IF they grow.
