So the IGN review about that wasn't actually that far off? ^^

Ironically this is true.

StEFaN7 wrote:

they probably started a fresh campaign with claire which restarts the story so you again see the truck driver cutscene and you play through the gas station and such, marvin is alive etc, i suppose you do everything that leon did just the characters are switched.

You are wrong. As I said before, each route represents a gameplay pattern not a narrative one. The difference in story is tied to the protagonist you play with. Claire A and B has the same narrative events.

except for the ada part sure, thats switched with sherry story and whole narrative changes but the rest is the same, you meet marvin just like leon etc, not that much of a narrative either so you can play with it easily

But how is the Forza protection different to Tomb Raider, AC, Re7.....is it that much harder and more complex? Hard to imagine....makes you think why the other games didnt have the Forza protection then

Different Protection, Forza is Windows Store Protection aka EAppX and the others you are mentioning are Denuvo (+custom like vmprotect on AC).

Since there are only a handful of games that use MS Store UWP Protection they are not top priority.
Devs arent using MS Store since it limits the playerbase only to Win 10 Users, unlike Denuvo that runs on 8,7 aswell.

Both protections need time to circumvent if there is no loophole which makes it easy like Unity based games.

Hope that answer is enough.

What antialiasing technique do you recommend? or maybe forcing it from the radeon settings?

Seemed to me TAA (only) was the best compromise... even though it blurs the image a lot, the other techniques are too pixelated and are barely noticeable...

The best compromise in my opinion is TAA + custom Reshade, with the latest versions it's also possible to play around with all the settings on the fly through the interface (Home button) which is very comfy. Razz

You can start with ticking the Lumasharpen setting and raising its 'strength' value to your liking, then you can also change the gamma/exposure through Tonemap or Liftgammagain, alter the Vibrance, add tone mapping etc. I posted an old basic preset some pages ago which might give a general idea, though such types of customizations are always a personal matter, so to speak.

I really like how smooth TAA is and most importantly - it gets rid of shimmering

I play with TAA on and the built in sharpening hexed out. The image will be very blurry for most of you, but I get used to it in a couple of minutes and the graphics are very clean and have almost a CGI quality to them. I found the sharpening somewhat harsh, that's why I disabled it. Probably if I injected my own sharpening it would work better.

Anyway, TAA is integral to making the game look correct (e.g. hair rendering absolutely depends on it to not look like a mess), whether you want to follow it up with additional AA or sharpening, or not.

Something I forgot to say about the game. Up until I played the final game (yes, even after I had played the demo) I thought the game was akin to a professionally made mod for RE7 with a third person camera.

But to its credit the game absolutely has its own identity and does not feel like a RE7 mod in the slightest. It even has stuff removed from classic RE games that were still part of RE7: for example RE7 had the "examine" function in a few objects in the environment. Very few, but you got the odd "this is a picture of the Arklay mountains" description or whatever. RE2 dropped this (save for one puzzle I have in mind).

Or you know, how RE7 had real time inventory (yuck), but RE2 freezes the game (yes!).

And I was fully expecting to see the return of psycho-stimulants - an SP game with exploration released post-2010 without "Batman vision"?! - but it doesn't. (Thankfully, but then again, it's not like you had to use the pills in RE7 - I didn't.)

In general the game does its own thing.

And I like both games, I would had been satisfied if RE2 was merely as good as RE7.
