A team of special operatives, sent back in time from the future, are tasked with preventing the collapse of society. These operatives, known as travelers, enter the body of a 21st century individual moments before the individual's "recorded time of death". This process is referred to as a "transfer of consciousness" and cannot be used to transmit someone farther back than the 21st century. The recorded time of death is accurate to the second because of smart phones, computers, GPS, cameras, social media, and other digital pillars of the 21st century. These devices also provide knowledge of the individual who will be dying, which helps the traveler prepare for the life they will inhabit.
The travelers must maintain their hosts' pre-existing lives to avoid attracting attention while performing missions aimed at saving the world from a series of catastrophic events. As the series progresses, changes in the present make significantly unanticipated changes in the future.
The whole season is out. Contrary to popular belief the show is not Netflix original but a Showcase show. Probably second season will be made in cooperation.
The show is made by Brad Wright, the creator of Stargate shows.
So this get me interested in the show (and the fact that it's scifi, time travel) because I love SG-1 and like Atlantis. I'm on 10th episode as I write this and it's decent. But not on the level with SG-1 in terms of enjoyment.
Be adviced that it's very heavy on personal drama as the characters must deal with the day to day problems of the previous person's life, the scifi story element makes maybe for one forth, one fifth of the screen time (probably to very small budget). Also it is very bleak in tone with almost no humor or comedy relief in it. There are some face palm moments and sometimes the mythos of the show is murky.
Just had to made the topic because maybe someone would be interested in it or have seen it and want to share that it's really shit.
I normally don't follow broadcast shows, mostly because 99% of them are shit. But season 1 of Travelers is quite good. Maybe because it's Canadian.
BTW according to Wiki it's a co-production between NF and Showcase.

The first season was good. Nothing amazing, but I really like the characters and the somewhat simplistic plot. I like how they keep it in the present, I really don't like it when similar shows try to do an half assed attempt to be scifi. Hopefully season 2 will be better.
What I really didn't like is how they did the Marcy thing.

I marathoned the new season over the last 2 days and it was pretty good. It will be interesting to see where season 4 will go if one is planned with the way Netflix is canceling stuff they don't fully own.
Serious coz there was almost zero actual sci-fi elements and the show might as well have been about the shrooms eating shamans projecting their astral bodies into other people?
I've finished watching s01& s02 and I gotta say that in terms of writing, story, and entertainment this show is nowhere close to another time travel show "12 monkeys".
Sometimes I had to fast-forward scenes. The story felt disjointed, too procedural and not engaging.
The s02 finale reveal was badly written meh..
I'm starting s03 now to see whether it gets better.
PS S03 wasn't much better. If anything it got a bit worse. The writing is the weakest part of this show...meh. Not gonna watch s04.
Much of this show feels like the crappy parts of Stargate Universe minus the spaceships and aliens. S3 was a bit of an improvement imo but I don't think it's a good show at all.
