DK2 is still way better and more fun than this franchise.
Dungeons 1 is crap.
Dungeons 2 improves on it in pretty much every way and was actually enjoyable when i played through it.
IMHO skip Dungeons 1 and give 2 a try. Or just wait for 3, as the story is not worth playing for anyways. |
Yep, pretty much this. Nearly 20 years have passed but DK2 is still the unrivaled king of the genre (it's sad when one thinks about it), though unlike the first clumsy attempt Dungeons 2 tries to do its own DK-like thing by adding different features/strategic overworld map and whatnot, with good-ish results.
There's also War for the Overworld which is another pretty solid attempt to revitalize the DK formula (in a more classic manner than Dungeons 2's), it had an extremely rough launch but now is definitely worth a try as well. |

I think that DK 2 went a bit too "whacky". DK1 had that dark, somber tone that I truely liked, while DK2 went overboard with the tropes.
DK1 also had it's silly moments, but it came as a bit cruel, and always unforgiving.
It's like the age-old FO1/FO2 debate. I guess I fall into the first category :>
Anyway, this looks like mobile trash, from what I've seen, and from where I stand.
But oh well, if there's one to be had, I guess I'll sell my body for a "skip 2 hard levels" loot box.

I liked the 2nd one. Looking forward to this one.

The story writing going by the user screenshots seems a bit poor but the gameplay seems to continue to improve on the previous games.

I don't remember Dungeons 1 being so much into memes and similar even if it was lighter in tone than Dungeon Keeper.

I loved 3....never did play 1 or 2. Def loved Dungeon Keeper back in the day. One of the first Kickstarters I donated to was War for the Overworld. That one was good, I thought.
