Rush places an emphasis on the importance of people who have special skills, who can and will do work. That they’re the ones who need to be brought into the community at Prosperity. At the same time, those are the people he wants to help—the ones already helping themselves. There’s no room for people with disability or a lack of skill sets. It’s a fantasy of communal living, rammed through a capitalistic (and militaristic) lens. In this way, Far Cry New Dawn courts the notion of paring down society to who is valuable, who is expendable, and who even counts as a person. Though, of course, it can’t bring itself to say this out loud.
Quote:
What passes for the narrative and thematic core of this sequel is a tension between a reactionary, expropriative violent youth (people who are unable/unwilling to make or nurture) against the resurgence of a status quo that ended the world—Makers and Doers who have re-enshrined traditional property rights with stockades and garden plots. And in the end, the Highwaymen are the boogeymen that Rush and the citizens of Prosperity would need to invent, if they didn’t exist. Prosperity and Rush need a cartoonish, hyperbolic threat to justify and flatter their freehold authoritarianism and dress it in the garb of egalitarian communitarianism. Which, if the developers of this game had spent a little more time on would have realized, this could have been an interesting interrogation of how fascism happens.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."
I agree. And I usually agree with his videos. From time to time, he does put out some crap, but that's fine.
Waiting for his Metro review
Tbh I liked him much more a year ago or so.
His opinion kinda seems inconsistent to me.
He might shit on a game just because it's third person or he might praise another game even though the game has several things he would usually totally shit on.
dunno how to explain it but no review is completly objective but there should be a balance and sometimes his subjective opinion takes total control.
Still watching his reviews though since he makes a funny joke or two once in a while.
@lametta Why can't his reviews be subjective? I never understood that. The whole point of watching someone's videos (as opposed to a corporation's) are because you get his subjective opinion. The hope is, of course, that it really is subjective and not paid for. I don't think that's the case with Mack. He enjoys what he enjoys. He has "mellowed" over the years, which I too dislike a little bit. I fear his mellowing is because of retards always shitting on his videos for not agreeing with them. See e.g. his Witcher 3 review.

Nothing wrong witht hat but he changes his opinion on certain game mechanics like he changes his underpants.
Crtisizing one thing you dont like in one game and not making a big deal out of it in another is kinda inconsistent.
Thats what i don't like.
I often see people say "he always cries about [something]", then when he likes some game despite that something, they say he zigzags. Not saying you say that, just a general observation. Life is a game of compromises. You enjoy what you enjoy, despite certain problems. For example, the new Metro game (like the previous ones) is has many technical bugs, but one might enjoy it despite that. But if it was a game same one did not enjoy, these bugs would be much more apparent and annoying. I think this is what Mack does. Yes, he complains about third person a lot, but if a game comes that is good, he is willing to be much more susceptible to the third person perspective in that game.
Other than Half Life 2 and Tribes 2, which he often fanboys for, I haven't seen Mack fanboy anything. In fact, his gut reaction is to be skeptical of games where there is rampant fanboyism. I share that instinct.
I don't like WAB and his review scores expose him as a fraud, always said that and it always held up so far. The fact he gave this game a thumbs up explains it all.
We live some interesting and almost troubled times. One can't remain fixed on certain standards, as everything... just goes, just happens in all the colors and styles.
Games are now made with large targets in mind, so it's hard to find a 'subjective' masterpiece nowadays. Developers / publishers in their aim for large audiences cover lots of mechanics and gameplay elements trying to HOOK different social / cultural classes and ages. And if you do find a certain masterpiece, that should excel at everything you EXPECT from it, it's probably a niche game (for me, for example: Pillars of Eternity 2).
I find myself more and more loving (lots of) PARTS from different games nowadays. BUT: I rarely find a game that I love almost entirely. It might happen, still: Kingdom Come is the single game that I personally REALLY like in the last... 6 months - I picked it up later.

You can disagree all you like, I despise him. But hey enjoy the reskin if you like it, just don't act like the game was good simply because your beloved WAB said so.
Keep the derp emote, seems like you need it most, seeing as you support him

I used it on his video too, you dumb ass. You said “fraud” with no argument other than “I dislike him”. You are the definition of derp.
