well...my wife bought me the game and what was i supposed to do..i installed epic launcher and played a little bit of the game and i have to say i kinda like the movement and shooting .I always had this problem with shooters when you always shoot perfectly and reload lighting fast and the weapon never jams and well in this game ,it happens.Especially with dirty and worm out guns like these it should happen, yeah it is slower that the average shooter but the feeling is nice

Game is breathtaking! I'm enjoying it so much! One thing that is ruining the experience a little bit is that I have to play it windowed since it doesn't support 21:9 ratio. If I play fullscreen it stretches 16:9 and looks horrible. If I play windowed it goes into 21:9. I have to switch the taskbar off so I can almost have a fullscreen experience. Hopefully they will fix this issue asap.
But other then that the game is amazing!!

I hated STALKER as well. It was a bugfest crapola masquerading as “quality” because people had an understandable instinct to revolt against simplistic console shooters. But two wrongs don’t make a right. No tolerance for bugs has nothing to do with short or long attention span, but more with how masochistic you are for the sake of mentally sticking it to the derps. The joke was on the lm.

Finished it after 25h, i'd give it an 8 and i think its the worse of the whole series. Next one should ditch the open maps or get alot better at it; only the first one in VOlga is nicely done and has a real stalker vibe. They probably should stick with underground levels, all levels like that in this one were great, just as expected.
Im also dissapointed by the lack of imaginatoin from the devs regarding the open areas stories, they were nothing out of the ordinary. Also lots of small derpish things that make the gameplay clunky. And already said it, lack of voiceover for Artyom ingame is really depressing; there are whole scenes between levels even 10-15 minutes ones where you just stay like in a theater.
About the end, think i got the good one Spoiler: | Anna and full crew lives, Artyom is commander and they reached Baikal, only Miller ded. |

This is just another generic, simplistic console shooter, so it's certainly not on the STALKER side of the coin.

@Interinactive As someone that only played through Last Light recently, I can say that most of what you wrote in your bigger post are issues that the previous game had as well. It seems like a matter of devs thinking it's fine, so why change... rather disappointing then. The saving system should have absolutely been adapted for the focus on bigger zones in this one. It was bad enough even in linear games like the first 2.

Various UI elements are cropped off for any FOV higher than 60 (binoculars, blood, gas mask transitions, certain first person animations). Notice the sides of this screen. It's silly too, because it would be so easy to fix, simply by using bigger visuals or stretching these assets to fit the viewing area.
The 2nd open area shaves around 20-30FPS from my frame rate during the day, even though it looks much more bland than the first area. I get 90 usually, if I enable RTX I lose 30, then I lose more on top of that in this place. So I'm forced to play at night in that area, otherwise it's all over the place. To compound the annoyingess of this issue - changing graphic settings during gameplay makes glitches and shit appear (as per the screenshot in one of my previous posts), so you can't (well, I can't) switch between ultra + high whenever I feel like it, without first restarting the game.
The save system sucks. There is no history of saves. There is 'load last save' and nothing else. So if you fuck up on something or break the game (which I have done twice) then you can't backtrack to fix it. For example:
Spoiler: | When you take the passenger car back to the train, you're told to go inside to talk to the Colonel. I thought I'd investigate the area where the train was before talking to him, since it had moved forward since. It's maybe ~20 meters away from where it wanted me to go. At that point the game decided I had talked to the Colonel and skipped ahead in the story. I checked on Youtube and the conversation it skipped is actually important because it lets you know that one of your team members doesn't have much experience and you need to look after him during the last mission for that region. |
Random stuff like that. Plus... at times if you don't go the way the game wants you to, it won't autosave. On Ranger hardcore you only have autosaves. I went 40 minutes once without a save. It was VERY tedious. For those playing at home:
Spoiler: | If you don't go from the first objective in the desert area to the lighthouse, it won't save. I started exploring the other side of the map until I realised it wasn't saving (as it tells you in the game's menu, how many minutes it hasn't saved in). |
It's not dark enough, so when you're 'hiding' it seems like the AI is retarded at times. It's not an RTX issue, even with that on it's still too light, and since you can't get reshade to work on DX12 you can't do much about it.
Audio overlap. Conversations can be triggered by being close to people. So if you go close enough to 2-3 people, prepare for your ears to bleed because they will all be talking over eachother at full volume.
The music - I personally hate it because it brings about a lot of fake tension. Like a jump scare is always around the corner. It also gives away too much. I turned it off.
And lastly, the amount of things that are cinematic that should just be functions of the game. Like pressing E to crawl through spaces. This happens dozens of times at least. They should just give us a fuckin prone key and let us be in control more.
That's it for the technical issues. If I had to write a list about what I liked or the technical improvements over the last game, it'd be a lot longer. I'm really enjoying it, I've played 20hrs in 2 days |
Thanks, that was interesting to read!
1 and 2 are still amazing.

Got the same ending and yes it's the good one.
I loved the game, but it does have some of the same problems the previous ones had...nothing major though imo.
