This didn't kill Mass Effect. This is actually the best Mass Effect that nuBioWare can do.

Hope it fails miserably, as this is the most uninspired type of shit the industry is shoving down kids' throats.

They had no idea what they were doing in Mass Effect 3 already. Wtf was that? The game's strengths were only what was built iteratively with the previous 2 games. And they just took that and took a huge shit all over the story.

Has to be their worst to date. Sad Can't believe Drew Karpyshyn actually worked on the story part. There is no hope for BioWare.

It's the same internal "team", but I would guess very few of the actual original team members that worked on ME remain. ME1 came out over a decade ago. The average low level peon dev quits after about 5 years in the industry. If you got back to the start of the thread, you'll see info about high level members of the Anthem team (like the lead writer) quitting that nobody had ever heard of before and definitely played no part in ME's development.

I think this game is definitely a passable Desiny-like game.
The flying gives makes exploration a bit nicer (there are treasures hidden sometimes in unexpected locations). I cannot say much about the gameplay of different classes as I've only played Interceptor so far, but in general gunplay is exactly like Destiny. It's quite nice it has the difficulty levels, can faceroll if you feel like, and if you want some challenge, can tune up the difficulty (all story missions are pretty much faceroll on hard difficulty, but the strongholds were brutal -> gave up after instagibbed by a sniper 4th time -> switched to easy and I could one shot everything Razz)

The loading screens are not that bad (the only LONG loading screen is the one to the mission). The inventory to Fort / back loading screens are just 5-10 seconds, while the mission loading screen is.... closeish to minute?.

I've yet no idea of the end game, I guess I'll finish the campaign today or tomorrow.

regarding story... dunno, this is the first game in long time where I haven't skipped the story and it has made me chuckle few times.

I think people who hate this, are hating it for the wrong reasons.

This is not an RPG, this is not a Mass Effect-like.

This is a simple Looter Shooter and seriously, its great at that.

You can min-max the shit out of items, there is plenty and PLENTY of loot, there are no skills or stats to change, everything comes from your gear.

If you take it for what it is, a SHOOT'n'LOOT with a light story to give you a background about what happens and why.

Is it deep? Nope. Did we know, Owen would turn, the moment he got rejected once? Absolutely.

Does the Monitor look like the Guy from Andromeda? hell yeah.

Does any of that really matter? Not at all.

I mean seriously, How many of you really played Diablo 2 (or 3) for the story? Or Destiny 2 etc.

It's about that looting and shooting.

Which by the way, complaining about most missions being about those 2 cornerstones of the genre, looting and shooting, is kind of odd to me ^^

I think you're being dismissive of people's complaints. There's no min-maxing, as there's no customization, you've got 3 offensive skills per character, 2 defensive skills and a few slots in which you can put bonuses (extra damage, extra grenade recharge time, etc) but none of that matters because you can only have one item of a certain type in any slot. You can't for example have 2 extra damage upgrades. You've got 6-8 types of bonuses, and 6 slots to put them in. Once you unlock all the slots, you basically get one of each, and just grind to get a higher percentage.
That isnt min-maxing, it's the illusion of choice. And i guarantee you every single guy is going to run the exact same combo of skills, since there's basically one single choice of skill to be able to trigger your combo by yourself that actually does any damage, per javelin. When they said you'd have highly-customizable javelins, i wasn't expecting to just be able to select between 3 sets of armor, one being a legion of dawn exclusive, and to be able to paint my character and that's it either. Destiny's got around 50 sets per character class, this one's got 3. -.-"

And the shooting.. Jesus man, the only sort of unique weapon in the game is the charge-up sniper. Everything else is just a different skin of an assault rifle, with different fire-rates. And there's no impact to anything you shoot at. Part of what made destiny fun is that you could snipe some poor unsuspecting cow-cabal that was just hopping around in low gravity and then watch him do a backflip. Full physics, exaggerated backflips. The shooting in that never got old. Here you get a little red x when something dies, and it just clumps down to the floor.

As for story, mate, Destiny's story is miles ahead. And that itself is a really low bar to pass.

From Bioware i wasn't expecting your typical light story BS a la division & destiny, i was expecting mass effect, in multiplayer. I dont think i'm the only one to think that. Bioware is known for one thing, good stories. It baffles me that their excuse for me:a was that their main team was busy making anthem, and anthem turns up to be even more shallow than me:a.

I have LONG loading screen only in and out of the mission, all other screens are just couple of seconrds ( < 10).

I have the game installed on regular SSD (ie. non M.2)

Min-maxing there is since each item has random bonus attributes (up to 4 I think), which means there can be a LOT of modifiers at the end.

You can min-max damage, resistance, shield, armour, loot etc. And sure, it's luck, but that's why you can craft the hell out of it. Ofc I hope there will be ways to craft/change a single thing on a piece, but whatever.

For the 6 component slots, well, I am only Level 20 and already I have to choose out of a pool of like 18-24 items (that I can craft) to put in there. So again, I have to make a conscious choice to either go for damage, defence, utility etc.


And again, if you are going into this with the mindset of "This is ME4", then yes, you'll be disappointed. Because ME it isn't.

That being said, for me right now, the only really issue I have with the game, is the connection issues and loss of especially.

Going to try something I found, to see if it fixes that. Other than that, there are no issues with the game, imho, technically speaking.

@DaLexy You can only buy 2 different Skins right now for around 8€ each. In demo, it was 20€

500 Shards: $4.99 / 1050 Shards: $9.99.

They halved the cosmetic prices. EPIC armour pack costs $8 instead of $20 which people were expecting from demo build.

How are you going to do all that without proper stats page?

Current building gear is completely useless. The inscriptions & affixes serve 0 purposes outside masterwork/legendary items. We don't even know what all the icons/stats stand for or what is their base value. Nothing.

Just pop-in the highest level item and done.



The DPS skill is ehh as combos are far stronger. That reduces the build variety even further. Basically 2-3 primer and detonators. Some of the skills have very long recharge making them less effective without god-tier reduction stats from mw/legendary.

So essentially you'll have the same bonuses by the end of it as everyone else. You can't for example equip 2 +25% base weapon damage items, cause the game won't allow you to. It goes the same for all bonuses.

I am talking about the addition bonus rolls you get on every item.

My blue components have 1 random stat, weapons have 2, support has 2, right now with all blue items, that gives me like 16 random stats additionally.



And purple/legendary and masterwork items have like 2-4 of these stats, each item. So I'd say there will be around 32 stats from just these bonuses. Which are absolutely random. So, you can craft until you get the right one. That's some min-maxing.

I'll create a post for the patch notes in the coming days once they're ready to go.

I had a nice experience on that trial of yvenia questline and guess what, my game keeped on crashing, so i found one treasure chest -> crash -> start game -> loading screen simulator -> go to one chest and open it -> game crash -> repeat Laughing

wasted 1 hour watching loading screen after loading screen

Crash or lost connection?

A fix for the later seems to be this (for some anyway, tried it and so far it works, could be luck)

change game language (in origin) to something else, let it update and change it back.

in origin there is a debug file, that shows this:

[0215/205958:WARNING:resource_bundle_qt.cpp(114)] locale_file_path.empty() for locale

which seems to have something to do with the connection issues.


Worth a try anyway.

Luckily don't have crashing problem except a couple of times during the early game.

GM1 is comfortable at the moment. Although 1 masterwork in like 9-10 runs so far. Hmm.


The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

I've gotten one MW also; level 40 sniper with 40% weakspot damage when hovering.
Hit's quite hard, but not that great... I don't like hovering Razz

I think I hit for ~12k on weakspots if I get acid debuff on the enemy.

<- I haven't had any crashes actually, or disconnects for that matter.

You guys are all playing with a party? Tried the game yesterday, started a private game on hard, even the tutorial mission was giving me a hard time, had to run around in cover with a Colossus killing adds for health pickup. Then again had no gear at all, guess it makes a big difference.

You will get better, just give it a few hours, with evading it get's a lot easier, or doing barrel roll when trying to escape from ranged attacks

I'm not sure if the hard difficulty is doable alone in the beginning (a bit like diablo's T1 with a fresh character Razz).

But in general I've played the game only on Hard (all story missions, only mission where I had to drop it was the first stronghold mission -> I was jug being instashot by snipers) in a random party of 4.

Colossus = shield -> sprint -> SPLASH

rinse and repeat.

Get the +300% shield damage component for some extra SPLASH.

You can kill all the trash mobs with that mostly 1 hit.

Just use combos for the bigger foes. I Use Firewall to prime and railgun to detonate. Works like a charm.
