True. I have absolutely nothing against good membrane keyboards. My very old Logitech G11 was the best keyboard ever.
But the problem is that they do not make keyboards like that anymore and if I want N key rollover keyboard, it's all mechanical keyboards and this is one of the cheapest... I am still not sure how I feel about brown switches. They are louder than blacks and feel a bit stiffer (blacks were super smooth) but the keyboard itself is of better quality and I prefer normal layout than what I had.
It's not too loud being "non clicky" brown switch. i could always put stupid orings on every switch to dampen the bottoming out.

Are you guys sure that the old mechanical keyboards are actually mechanical and not just the key itself as the bottom of the board uses those plastic membranes?
Edit:
By the way, nice socks there KC, like a real sexy bitch.

It more about keycaps.
The keyboards end for me when keys are shiny and legends fade.
New set of keycaps is 100usd so might just get new keyboard.
Membrane, mx or whatever is just preference. Everyobe focuses on switch type and not on a quality of case, keys and so on often leading manufacturers to use cheap abs which soaks oils and look terribly smudgy and wears off

@KillerCrocker
I have PBT coating on my caps too.
I have this mecha for nearly a year now. The coating at least on the WASD keys wore a bit off and doesn't feel as silky as it first did. It's a bit smoother now. But visually you don't see anything. Looks as new.

The most important for me in a keyboard is the , in your case, top right multimedia keys INCLUDING ALSO THE "STOP" KEY...because let's say ya playing 1 song on Repeat and you just wanna restart it without doing many shits... Sooo yeah.. And better if the multimedia keys are NOT in the whole Fn+F## Key combo.. Aka the buttons at the top right + STOP = FTW
Happy with my Logitech G213 here (Had the G510 and tought the screen was useful but had a coupon etc etc...). The only complaint would be the palmrest thing wich's not detachable but it's ok, got used to it..
Congrats on ya KB change!

Ahhh so the keycaps on my coolermaster masterkeys pro L are starting to wear off...
PBT laser engraved whatever my ass.
s,d,f,e,x,c,v,b,g.... all legends starting to look greyish and far from white. Exactly like on my previous cherry touchboard. Coolermaster on twitter just told me to clean my keycaps... ofc it does not help at all.
Should've went for the white backlight version. At least transparent legends would not wear off but keys would shine faster I guess. And I do not use numpad too... could've went for TKL... but numpad is used only for carmageddon and bank logging
And maybe It's because I was using blacks for quite some times, but I make more mistakes on browns and the space feels like crap. It's very light before the bump. Blacks were a but stiff but it only tells me that reds could work for me as they are similar to blacks but lighter.
Oh I kinda miss normal cheap rubber dome keyboards. These 10$ dells we have at work with legend stickers never wear off. I use these for years and the damn legend pads are still white and never peel off while super expensive much better pbt laser engraved keycaps wear off after a month

Haha yeah always good if you can fix a broken item. A year or so, I fixed a 25 year old IBM PS/1 (my very first PC) which had been broken since 2002 and it felt great bringing back to my old pall again.
EDIT: also, on topic: the old mechanical keyboards of the early 90's had very sharp spring clicks. Modern mechanical keyboards are noisy compared to membrane but have a much software click. As such, I find typing on old IBM keyboards to be distracting at times although it has its charm. Modern mechanicals are much nicer to type on. I use one at work (quality membrane keyboards seem to have disappeared) and my colleague has commented on it being quite a bit louder but when she used it, she was surprised at how accurate it feels.
Compared to even expensive membrane keyboards where keys would start to stick after a few years of use, mechanicals just feel better. I just wish there were more mechanical keyboards aimed at office use. I had to explain to my boss why my new keyboard had red LED backlighting and this was the least ostentatious good model I could find!

Yeah, I love my QPAD MK-50 mechanical keyboard. There are no LED's/RGB-Lightshows (which is how I like it), it's just a nice mechanical keyboard with great feel and the click sound is just right.

I am not liking brown switches too much after all. This cm masterkeys pro L pbt is kinda shit.
Legends are fading, spacebar rattles and numlock/capslock/scrl leds are so bright they burn my eyes out.
It's also loud as fuck. The only thing I like about it is nice minimalist design and detachable cable, so I can clean my desk easier.

I have Magicforce 68 wiht brown switches, cheap and good. I like it so far, but I'd like to try some other switches (colleague at work had some black linear and those were sexy as hell )

*BUMP!!!*
I've just tried out the G513 Tactile at a Mediamarkt shop (They finally freed 'em from the boxes!)
... It feels a bit less smooth than my G213 and the KB is membrane still somehow...I think..
What i didn't liked is that media keys are now within the F keys via FN key.. Wich totally sucks
Now here comes a new KB from Logitech...
https://www.logitechg.com/en-us/products/gaming-keyboards/g915-low-profile-wireless-mechanical-gaming-keyboard.html
Why, from all the times, do they have to change the STOP key from the DEDICATED Media Keys into a MUTE button?!...My G213 is PERFECT for that and now they''ve broken what it didn't need any kind of fix?!?
It looks like a RAZER ORNATA CHROME, with the low profile keys.. Makes me feel a bit uncomfortable....
Also it says it has "Clicky" but it's not a Blue Switch.. There's brown "white" and Red
250$... Noooope

I've got cherry reds in my qtek and I love them. They're linear, no audible clicks in the switch itself, lower resistance than blues and lower pre-travel than blues as well (basically more of a gamer switch). The click sound on my keyboard comes from the mechanical properties of the caps hitting the base of the switch and "floor".
https://www.cherrymx.de/en/mx-original/mx-red.html
Specs for all the Cherry MX switches.

Well my CORSAIR K95 died...it MIGHT be because of the tea I spilled in it, but who is to say who did what?
I picked up a Redragon K556 RGB.
Not the most expensive but it has all I need. small footprint, metal case, numpad.
And I do like it has "plug and play" removable/replaceable switches. Just pop them out with the puller and slap another one in.
It even came with a few of each 'color'. So I changed out the space to the quieter brown, the enter key to a red. WASD to super clicky blues.
I put in some o-rings to help with the bottom out 'thunk' mechanical has, and I really like it for $60.
Only thing is I have to get use to not dragging my finger on the upper right trying to scroll down volume. I have to do it on the volume knob on my external soundcard like a caveman now.
