Finally I found the time to subinge the show, it was great indeed. I was afraid it would follow the rehashed Gomorra clone route at first, the "late to the party" effect so to speak resulting into something slightly derivative with a mild sense of deja-vu (the first episode directed by Placido didn't do a good job at presenting the theme), but everything slowly started regaining its own identity, all the characters began developing and the show managed to do its own gritty and engrossing thing.
Solid production values, writing and overall direction (very similar to Sollima's works, not quite as good in my opinion but close enough). I liked the protagonists with their completely different backgrounds and mannerisms, caricatural but believable, same for the supporting cast and the focus interpersonal relationships. Perhaps Rome felt too much like an abandoned city at times (an understandable trick since there's more atmosphere that way - in reality it's much more packed ), and there were also instances where the delivery of some lines didn't really feel as authentic as expected, though it's something not really too problematic, unnoticeable if one doesn't speak Italian.
All in all, yet another competent production from our puny badabeboopi land, recommended to anyone who likes the genre as there's enough material and suspense to keep the interest alive and then some more reserved for a future second season.

i didn't really like that you saw every time a part of the ending at the start of the episode.
Yeah, it got old really fast.
Oh, absolutely! I strongly suggest anyone to just skip those completely (it's what I did too) and start watching the episodes from when the logo appears. It's much much more enjoyable that way, having every episode spoiled before it even begins wasn't a brilliant idea to put it mildly.
FInished the season. Really good show, not as good as Gomorra and Romanzo, but it's a deserving successor in the all-around quality department. I just hope they get rid of that "Il giorno prima" crap for S2
Binged it in 3 days... pretty good and yeah, once I figured out at the first episode what they were doing with showing the end I skipped it in the next episodes. A very daft thing to do.
It starts of rather tame, but it really picks up and it just spirals out of control the entire season.
Following the success of the first season, Suburra, the series - the first original Italian Netflix crime thriller produced by Cattleya in collaboration with Rai Fiction and released last October in over 190 countries - will return for a second even more action-packed season.
The second season is written by head writer Barbara Petronio with Ezio Abbate and Fabrizio Bettelli. The directors are Andrea Molaioli (Suburra The Series, The Girl by the Lake, The Jewel) and the new-comer Piero Messina (The Wait).

It was in the air, but hadn't been confirmed yet. Good news
I've finished watching s02 and I gotta say..I feel a bit disappointed. imho the writing was worse than in the first season...
Spoiler:
for instance, I was wtfing when the politician and the cop left Samurai alive instead of killing him right there.Jeez..
Some characters didn'tseem to have convincing and "natural" character development( the politician's wife, the cop, the detective chick, the radio dude etc)
The cop confessing all his shit to the detective chick and then offing himself?..whaaat.. I guess the actor wanted out.
Killing the old hag in such a way that her death seemed like an accident whereas the whole point was to make it obvious she was murdered. And I don't buy the dude's excuse that the politician's wife showed up.
etc etc
Oh, and enough with this Samurai... he outstayed his welcome.
Well, it's the poor man's Gomorra after all I'm 3 episodes in and it's feeling weak so far, even a little cliche'd. Makes me wish it was already end of March for the new season of Gomorra to kick in.
I'll keep watching but not expecting much tbh, I'm having a much better time with the new season of Engrenages.
P.S: On the bright side, they got rid of the "Il giorno prima" crap
I actually enjoyed Suburra's first season more than Gomorra (at least more than the first season of Gomorra) That's why I was so disappointed with the second one.
Finished the new season, and yeah, definitely below S1 quality, and that wasn't already that good to begin with, just entertaining above average. I think it has many of the elements needed to become a great show, they just need to hire better writers
Good thing Gomorra is just a few weeks away to erase the sour taste
Just finished the Subingewatch S02.0 as well, I still enjoyed the main characters, their intrigues and motives, but the disappointment was quite palpable indeed
The biggest issue is that part of the charm that made S01 unique for me just..faded away, replaced by a series of pseudo-twists that felt too forced. The frequent comic-book-like teletransportations didn't help either, the situations lacked believability which is a sin in a story that's supposed to stay connected to reality. From the major cliffhanger a S03 seems like a given, though truth to be told, perhaps the show should have been a one-season-only kind of thing since at the moment it's essentially chasing its own tail.
@4treyu: Yeah, the creators should have focused more on maintaining the show's identity rather than on trying to mimic its big Neapolitan brother in a cheap-ish way. Oh well [curses in Sinti]
