And with that out of the way always nice to see AI Upscaling going better and better, from RER (? Resident Evil Remake.) to Final Fantasy IX and others and now even dumping these movie scenes frame by frame and running them through these various algorithms and even more algorithms itself.
Not really for PC but NVIDIA and Nintendo even had a go at AI upscaling for Twilight Princess I think it was? Boding well if larger corporations are going into it and they can also build the required asset libraries and training databases for doing a even better job with upscaling than a generic one that works a bit so-so and requires some tuning and tweaking for best results.

They are using it for years allrdy mostly Waifu2x and similar algorithms unfortunately often with pretty bad results like FFXII Zodiac Age or Resonance of Fate so these new tools will help a lot if they don't manage to somehow screw it up again.
Yeah avoiding results such as Final Fantasy XII would be a scenario I would really like to see where it's not just uniformly filtered and adjusted via some effects where it looks smeared and hides original details instead of drawing these out.
Some editing is probably unavoidable and if you have to use game assets instead of source assets (STORE THESE BETTER FFS! PRESERVATION!) Well there's only so much that can be done but results are good for what it is considering the limits this has when using ripped assets or stuff that is already compressed or at a lower res.
Final Fantasy XII did make a effort on character models and such but the environment and other textures show pretty poor filtering effects so less of that for future projects and that would be really nice.
Of course a full remake might be better but also far costlier and who knows what else would be changed, asset preservation and data storage and backup problems with tons of older titles and software companies are a problem too meaning short of a remake what exists in the final retail game is sometimes the only things left.
With all the AI stuff people are doing for background textures, I am surprised no one has attempted to do anything with the Vampire Bloodlines textures yet.
