Loving it so far, despite the fact that I loved its atmosphere and lore a lot more, I've always struggled to finish Souls games because their gameplay feels pretty repetitive after a while, I think the constant rolling drove me mad most of all - thankfully, there were options for mages and whatnot, but who plays mages in those games anyways Very Happy Wink
The addition of a pretty solid stealth system allows for more freedom in approach.
The posture system is a pretty good one in order to translate sword fights. Very satisfying when you pull a good combination of moves off.

Yeah, 3rd person games with sword fighting need to adopt a version of the posture system. It doesn't really translate managing to get through an opponent's guard during the first strike, but it works pretty well as I find it weird when you're slashing at a dude's body 10 times before he dies.

So while you're chipping away at their health, visually, it should look like they're blocking your attacks and stuff and you only cut them when they're meant to die when health drops to zero.


Also purple dude on the roof in that building you get to by jumping back and forth between the walls in the side area of the Hirata estate bridge is fucking me up.

I think this is a hidden mini boss or something. Been dying once and running back to the statue to rest way too much haha. Might have to revisit later.

Noooooo...big nono...game becomes boring very fast...combat mechanics, which were the only thing that intrigued me, become broken late game...nothing exciting...my personal opinion: only isodemo.

If you like souls games it's easily worth it, the combat is pretty much the best melee combat system in gaming, the pacing and level design are great and it has some of the quickest and most fun stealth gameplay in many years.

HDMI limited range is 16-235. I don't know why they would use 11-244. Even if they used 16-235, it'd just be converted to whatever format you're using and you'd be fine. It only washes out if you don't know WTF you're doing. Many games might be mastered on 16-235 and you'd never know it.

Might have another reason but i can't think of one either 16-235 works as well but it makes it a bit more contrasty and crushes blacks here and there.

Fixes for ultrawide, fov changing and uncapped fps are being work on over at wsgf.

Only tested the ultrawide fix and it's flawless as far as I can see, they removed the red and grey overlays when at low health and in stealth though, because they were in the middle of the screen.
Fps fix doesn't work in fullscreen at the moment, but works in borderless windowed.

Worked with the cracled versions of DS2 and DS3, if they didn't change much it might work with this too

God I suck at this game. Only after 8 hours, I've killed the first "real" gate boss. The game is hard but I really like the level design with secrets and multiple paths.
So far it is not souls though. It is a much different game. There is a proper way to kill everyone and there are no different builds. This attack You jump over, this attack You press B to deflect, on this enemies You use firecracker and fire on others. This is very much a pare scissors game but with requirement for stupidly fast reflexes which I almost do not have.

They take very little posture damage. Their attacks are fast. Just one of these guys is a huge problem for me..if there are 2 it's instant game over..

i just kept dodging to their side and hit them since they're doing simple attacks. Think you can use that special parry as well when they thrust. They were by no means easy. And you never need to fight more than 1 at a time.

Isn't this game much more of a ninja gaiden , dmc type anyway then darksouls killercrocker?. At least with my first impressions it wasn't leadingg me to think it's a darksouls clone Confused. I haven't played though so I just assumed from the eye candy alone

It is not a souls clone at all. Only a little bit is similar like level design with many secrets and paths (but still more linear than souls).
The game is not a dmc clone too. It's a timing based thing. It's like if they stripped away most rpg stuff from souls and made it a pure skill timing based deflect paper scissors game

Yeah, I had more trouble with them than with the iaijutsu miniboss. I think you are supposed to make sure that you always fight one on one. Also the raven feather (?) tool works great.

Nah Ninja Gaiden and DmC are stylish character action games this game is not like that at all, at it's core it's still closer to Souls or Nioh.
Combat might share some small similarity's because of the importance of parry but you don't clobber up dozens of enemy's at once like it's nothing, sekiro's focus in combat is always on defence and not offence also there is the importance of stealth which it got from it's tenchu roots.
