Roads? Where I'm going, there are no roads Very Happy
Problem with trucks & roads is not having a consistent flow of resources. I also have 2+km belts, to get oil & coal. Also, belts take no power, while trucks need manual refueling Smile

Truck stations can refuel trucks automatically Wink
They got output and intake for storage and one intake for fuel (coal, oil, fuel)

But yeah conveyor being powerless are a good choice, for now.
I personally stick to trucks and will use trains later ... for RP reasons Very Happy

There are automated trucks for this Laughing

Nice review still

I don't trust them. They get fucked up if the walking bull alien thingie steps on them. Or they randomly get stuck and you have to figure out where they at. They are great for exploring though.

I've created sky bridges with multi-story conveyor belt system.

Found a Caterium pure node near the oil patch on islands. Time to automate super computers Very Happy

Once trains come out, it should be good shit. Those are fast.

In preparation for the trains, I started paving everything between my factories, to create a little city Very Happy It's nice that foundations can overlap, to fill the gaps. If large enough, I could even try to get some cars driving around aimlessly, not to feel alone Laughing

With the caterium branch suddenly unlocked, my walled up factories couldn't really upgrade any more, and I didn't want to reconfigure everything either (everything should be at least 80% efficient now )
So I started specializing a bit, with smaller stuff between. Everything is going to get walled up, of course, so in the end it's going to be conveyor heaven. So Much Win
(or hell Razz )

I have a starter factory that's still pretty much spaghetti belts all over the place. Then created a manufacturing hub that assembles everything from parts delivered. Near one pure coal node, I have setup a power generation system using coal. I have another small factory connected via a skybridge thats iron/coal/cement to make steel pipes, beams, etc and transport those over to my manufacturing hub. I have an oil producing factory setup on islands connected via skybridge and transport plastics, rubber and oil over to hub. In the hub, I decided to make oil power plants too hence the oil transport. And two caterium nodes now that each produces quickwire and transported to hub.

Mk4 belts are very fast to transport stuff great distances.

My next project is to run sky bridges and connect all the biomes before next update in preparation for future production. I just completed my supercomputer production so everything is automated and stored in storages. I got mostly mk3 belts and some mk4 belts. Need to start upgrading those to to make them faster lol.

BTW, I'm using mk4 belts with a jetpack as a launch pad to go between locations really fast.

Goddamn this is just digital crack.

So many small bugs, conveyor belts and power lines happy to defy the laws of physics right now, gamepad not recognised (for me) when I restart the game (yes I use a gamepad in conjunction with the mouse... it works for me!)...Clones that cannot be rid of, so I made a clone prison....

But I just don't care... the last time I was so immersed in a game was Subnautica.

I am spending unwholesome amounts of day just building platforms, walls, storage and kilometer after kilometer of conveyer belt and power line....

Save me!

Edit: It is a shame in a way the 'lands are not at least partially procedually generated. I spent hours searching for a coal vein, and I found all sorts of stuff on the way... If this could just be different every start it would be utterly epic. (assuming more bugs were not introduced)...

Not me, just playing with what's available.

I hope the game isn't going to get a realism overhaul. The gravity defying floors and belts make it fun

I made a copy of a save game and edited it using that editor. I was expecting it removed the space elevator restrictions to other tiers, but all it did was unlock everything with stuff not even having icons, just a white square. So I stopped using it and went back to my original save. Though that minimap was useful Very Happy

I don't like this game. I tried and tried, but I just can't.

It's a cheap man's "casual" factorio. It's not even close as fun or complex or entertaining.

There is nothing deep or complicated. There is nothing to figure out.

Iron ore -> iron ingot -> iron plate duh

Iron ore -> iron ingot -> iron rod - screws duh

iron plate + screws -> reinforcedd iron plates duh

Conveyors cannot be used to make any kind of complex system, they are simply a means of getting 1 thing from A to B. The lack of anything to sort or pick or whatever, completely takes out the possibilities.

All you CAN do is calculate how many machines you need to build, to min-max a production of a certain item and that's it.

Not to mention that you need huge amounts of space to just build the most basic of items because everything is freaking oversized. But this doesn't add any complexity either, since you can just plaster to the whole planet with foundations anyway, making any kind of space management irrelevant as well.

Add to that unlimited resources and no actual danger and it's just a boring "connect A to B to make C".

This game can not even clean Factorio's boots, tbh.

I think the issue is people are somehow expecting a 3d-Factorio game, but I don't see it that way.

And making a computer is NOT straightforward. And when trying to find oil was a trek especially when you accidentally walk past 2 berry bee bods and not realise... till you're being attacked from all sides...Then the mammoth task of creating miles of conveyors... only to realise screw production is hideously slow.... so you make more constructors, but run out of power.. so you rewire things and then realise there isn't enough coal now..so you look for another coal seam...

and there is at least another tier to go, plus I hope more 'tasks' to complete as well.

Few niggles - favourites need some work, an overhead view showing things like power line distribution would be very useful..trucks should be able to traverse terrain a bit better... Otherwise I just can't stop playing. Tweaking existing stuff to be more efficient is a neverending thing...

@Sin317 Sorters are in already

Smart splitter Tier5 :
Splits conveyor belts in three.
You can set a rule for which part should go to the left and which part should go to the right.

Programmable splitter Tier6 :
Splits conveyor belts in three. You can set rules (ratio?) for each output to decide exactly where each part should go.

Also it's Early access guys plox Very Happy

I am sure ressources will go finite once trains are in and danger will raise as more creatures are planned.
Also several research branch are still to be implemented.

For now yes it's rather "easy and peaceful" (trying to automate super computer or facing 3 Fire hound spitter at once is still somewhat challenging).
Personally I try to stick to something "realistic", nice looking and do not exploit, unlimited conveyors belts length and physics flaw the game has for now, this way it's just a pure blast so far Smile

Game is promising imho.
And I still can't stop playing the damn thing...

It's not what I meant. In factorio, conveyor belts e.g. have 2 lines, so you can mix and split and match whatever. Also, there is nothing to sort.

It's just not as complex as factorio, not by a long shot.

One of the Caterium research trees allow you to build smart splitters where you set configurations on it.

It's not the same as Factorios where you can run multiple things on same conveyor belt and have a picker just grab the correct piece. Conveyors in this game are limited to one item per "spot"

But it's a moot point with higher ranked belts transporting stuff instantly.

Factorio is a lot more complex game. It's probably hard to transition most of it to 3D.

This game is a different level and I enjoy this game more than Factorio honestly.

How is that a problem? You can see a lot of people being OCD about stuff like space management. You can build in levels, and make it look very sophisticated and well managed. And im sure it will get more complex with time. Dev wise or maybe community, if its mod friendly...

Of course factorio is more complex, its also why it scared some people away from it.

Yeah it's not a complex game if you just plaster the planet with foundations and lay everything out everywhere.

It starts getting a lot more complex if you actually want to manage your space, create tight factories that do their job at 100% productivity, yet also look nice and without a mess of conveyors.
