FromSoftware should have patched the game with "made the game easier" and instead made it harder for April's Fools

KillerCrocker wrote: | No. Can't say the same about Dark souls. . It is anything but dodge dodge, block block. It is the best and most open combat of any game !
You can melee with many weapons of which every has different moveset
You can use a shield or not. There are many shields better or worse for deflecting
You can tank,
You can dex,
You can range,
You can magic
You can use every weapon 2 handed or dual wield (dark souls 2)
You can mix anything however You want. If You want You can not dodge or block once in the whole game.

How playing with different weapons, using shield, dex, tank, etc change the fact that you have to dodge-this-dodge-that or block-this-block-that?

Dark Souls is among most versatile game as can be. You can do many runs and change playstyle every time. Bloodborne limited things a bit by removing builds variety , shields and armor but still had many weapons with unique movesets and firearms.
Sekiro focuses on Parry. You block, fill the posture bar and attack. You can also attack some to weaken enemy HP and slower their posture recovery. The game is based ONLY only on parry mechanic but thanks to the focus, You can say it does it extremely well but if You don't like parry/deflect extremely fast rythm based combat - there is nothing else in Sekiro. |
It was known early on that you have one weapon and the progression system won't provide the same variety as Dark Souls. Sekiro is an action game. The fact that you wanted something else doesn't change this at all. Sekiro isn't Dark Souls.

The world is also more samey and there are no interesting items to find. It's just mibu balloons, stupid oils and some other useless stuff. it all makes exploration less interesting. |
Because this is not a game about finding items.

edit: I've preordered Sekiro full price and I already feel that the purchase was worth it even though I will probably not be able to finish it(I will beat that ape one day). It's still an amazing game and we don't get good sp games anymore. But at the same time, I am sad that I am not able to fully enjoy new From Software game. We just have better world, items and more versitale combat in previous games. Ah.. the story is bullshit btw |
Your expectations were different from what this game is trying to be. This is pretty much on you. I'm not so keen on Sekiro's world, enemy variety, lore, camera or graphics. But I knew I was getting a challenging action game with an awesome combat system and it didn't disappoint on this.

https://screenrant.com/sekiro-shadows-die-twice-easy-mode/
Quote: | Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice will be getting a newbie-friendly mode after a lengthy bit of Twitter discourse saw the game come under fire for being inaccessible to some gamers thanks to its difficulty.
Sekiro's difficulty came under fire when players were forced to come to grips with the fact it might be a game they couldn't beat. According to several players, dying on the first boss was so emotionally devastating that they have now retired from their hobby entirely, instead choosing to take up other, less productive pursuits like learning a second language or keeping their New Year's resolutions. While researches have yet to fully investigate what's being called the 'Sekiro Effect', there's no doubt that hundreds—possibly even thousands—of gamers are coming to grips with the fact that they're actually just not very good at parrying.
Although details on the mode are scarce, the developer has indicated that in the new mode, enemies will politely inquire about whether or not the player is ready to fight. Bosses will also provide helpful reading material to warriors seeking to end their lives, the contents of which will include their weak points, detailed blueprints of their attack patterns, and a general list of things that just sort of bother them. An anonymous statement from one of the devs working on the mode included a few more hints:
"With the new mode, what we really wanted to do was create a Sekiro experience that was fundamentally not Sekiro. So we removed all the gameplay elements that would typically make the game something we are known for and then added a bunch of stuff you could find pretty much anywhere else. Now, everyone can enjoy a bland, uninspired title rather than a specific group of people adoring a game that simply isn't for everyone."
The new mode will also feature the addition of a fairy, much like Navi from The Legend of Zelda series, who will follow players around while they fight and whisper encouragement to them. Some of the pre-programmed quotes will include "that's okay, sometimes just swinging a sword is impressive enough" and the soon-to-be iconic "have you tried just talking to the grizzled undead ape about it?" |
May the NFOrce be with you always.

So, I encoutered Genichiro on my last playsession. Managed to cheese the miniboss guarding him with poison, but as it turned out, there is no simple way of cheesing Genichiro.
Well, challenge accepted
Needless to say, I got my ass kicked over and over again for a full hour. I considered that maybe this is the final boss, like in Breath of the Wild where you can challenge the final boss whenever you want. Maybe I'm supposed to return here in 20 hours, with maxed attack power and a health bar four times the size of my current one.
Nope, Genichiro is the next boss in line. I'm supposed to beat him with the puny stats I have now.
So this playsession, I explored more of the Castle and the entrances to the areas after the castle. I found two more minibosses who were enough to expand my health bar a tiny bit. I got several stat points that I out into skills that improve my deflection capabilities. I found some Estus upgrades. And I actually tried hard to learn the deflection timing.
At the and of the session, I wanted to give Genichiro another try. The fucker is beatable now. Within 30 minutes of learning his pattern, I got him down to 20% health before I died. Had to quit due to work, can't wait to get home today and show him who's boss.
I don't think I've had this much fun gitting gud at a game since DS1.

You can have at least 3 health + posture upgrades before him and 8 estus, maybe more (there are some pieces to upgrade health + posture in the world too not only from mini bosses).

Why enemies immediately aggro when you resurrect behind them. Thought you were supposed to be able to stealth kill em like that?

Not always. Normal enemies do not do that. Bosses and mini bosses do agro

You are not allowed to take both health bars of a boss with stealth kills. The game has two systems in place to prevent this. All bosses immediately agro when you resurrect and the health of minibosses replenishes when they lose sight of you.

That translation mod apparently makes a lot of assumptions and is not good even thouhg it fixes a bunch of obvious mistakes.
