Blackface and some US cultural thing it seems that has blown up recently and is quite sensitive or something.
Outfits fine, painting your face black is some huge offense. I don't see it as a big deal but apparently that's some really touchy subject to a lot of online people.
(Though I was reading about it via ResetEra earlier today while looking for general game news and that's a bit skewed to put it mildly though it had a couple of people arguing about it although these are no longer part of that forum.)
Making a black face in Murica is really a hate crime because of its history. Altough the hollywood people at that time made a black face in a mean spirited way, it's not the case in the rest of the world (i assume).
I guess even if you have "white face" you shouldn't put black make up on your face to look like a "black" character. I wouldn't mind a black person who puts white powder to their face to look like a white character but whatever.
And if she didn't try to darken her skin? What then?
"Twitch streamer banned for whitewashing beloved black video game character."
Most people who are up in arms about blackface don't even appear to understand what blackface is. If she started prancing around like an idiot and started talking in what was thought to be a stereotypical to American negros then, then sure that's blackface.
But this wasn't blackface because it wasn't meant to insult or make fun of stereotypes. It's a homage to a character that she admires.
So I guess caucasians only have a limited range of Apex Legends characters they can cosplay as, because a white guy doing Gibraltar is also a no no because stop whitewashing racist scum.
Man if they released Tropic Thunder today, that show would have gotten a 0% on RT. Imagine the woke outrage because the point flew over their heads.
Completely agree with AKofC. Yeah that blackface ordeal is full-blown ridiculous and reeks of American issues with its past. When woke becomes fucking stupid and only disserves its cause on the ground of some misplaced puritanism.
Reminds me of Griezmann when he wanted to dress up as Jordan..
"But I admire the guy, I wanted to look like him, I'm not a racist".. he still had to apologize and pinky swear never to do it again - the general French people didn't even understand wtf the issue was to begin with.
You can't assume someone's intentions because of an historical/political bias that is exclusive to you.

hahha fucking lol , wasnt Winston a black monkey? Also this one clearly wanted to be a boy (as per lore) wouldnt surprise me if there was a d1ck in that suit already...
Jesus, these clowns are getting bolder and bolder. Well, what to expect, when you have "journalists" calling gamers "toxic" and other superlatives, this is what happens.
Developers use marketing speak to talk to players - "Why can't you say what you mean!"
Developers say what they mean - "OMG this is not how you talk to your customers!"
It's not even bad when read in context. Thin skinned children.
So it's only black and white? Either the developers use PR talk or they are rude assholes to the hand that feeds them?
Developers are service providers to people, and so should act accordingly. A service provider should never lose their shit like that and insult; if they can't handle it, they should be away from the public. In this case, it's even worse, because the "community" "manager" was one of the idiots insulting. That idiot is paid money to effectively communicate with the people in the community. A-OK job right there
