I will say that, while it's been a long while since I've played Chivalry, MORDHAU feels a lot more like Chivalry than I expected it to. All the negatives have made a return - things like:
-Most weapons having a 180 degree blocking arc (even the tiny 1 handed ones)
-Feint spamming/macroing
-Spam swinging two handed weapons to devastating degrees of effect in the larger battles.
Don't get me wrong - it's still a great game and a worthy successor - I just thought it was going to do a lot more to differentiate itself than it actually did.
I would however like to know how the developers feel that a rapier would be able to absorb the impact force of a two handed weapon (be it sword, maul, or axe) and not go fucking flying out of the wielders hand after the first parry? How many laws of physics is this game breaking?
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Some mechanics are silly, like knives blocking axes. But this is by no means a simulator.

Unless it's an actual great sword (zweinhander, montante), a rapier has no problems parrying a two handed sword as long as you parry in the forte / strong of the blade.
Rapiers are quite heavy (heavier than most sabres), with mass distribution being close to the hilt due to the complex guard and the whole point of it being a thrusting weapon. So as long as you parry with the third of the blade that is close to the hilt, it won't fly out of the hand.
Dunno how that would fare against a maul or axe, although if you're using a rapier and need to parry an axe swing, you're probably already dead because the opponent has already gotten past you and now your really really long sword which isn't good for cutting, is basically useless. If he has a glove, he can just grip your blade and murder you.

MORDHAU is an indie smash hit that has besieged Steam’s selling chart for days. This work of passion has turned years of experience into the most refined online medieval slasher and its success is well deserved. I see myself playing MORDHAU for months if not years to come in a continuous struggle to get better and this uncompromised level of challenge is probably what I love most about the game.
Pros:
+ Refined combat mechanics
+ Good animations and ragdolls physics
+ Large scale battles
+ A wide medieval arsenal and loadout customizations
+ Great cosmetic progression without any microtransactions
+ Cheap
Cons:
– Latency can be a joy killer
– Balance issues
– Small number of maps
– The secondary game modes are not as polished

picked this up over the weekend, loving it so far! The kills (and deaths) feel really satisfying, although it feels a little light map amount wise

The new map is awful. Small on the ground level but lending itself to absolutely endless levels of fuckery vertically to the point where you spend most of your time chasing archers and other ranged/throwing faggots around and up and down ladders rather than, you know, fighting.
Still think they made a massive mistake by including ranged/throwing weapons in the game. Ah well, got my time out of it while the getting was good. It's just a shame that it didn't launch with a dedicated round robin duel tournament mode while the game was still fresh.

new map seems pretty lazily built, but its decent to play.
this game however is really ruined by its toxic and racist (as hell) community. No game goes by without a cornucopia of racist slurs and intentional TKs; its really ruining the game for me atm

What's all this bullshit about "toxicity"? It's a team based competitive FPS for fucks sake. Tempers run high - a match wouldn't be complete without mention of fucking somebody's mother or tossing a racial slur about here and there. Those who can't stomach it can either turn off the chat, turn on the baby filter, or get the fuck out and go play something more their speed, like Farmville or Bejewelled.
Holy shit some people. They act like this is some sort of new development or phenomenon - it's been around for as long as shooters have been around (early 90s). These pussies need to fuck right off and leave well enough alone. Not sure who exactly is bitching though? Purple haired steam tards I suppose?

No, people with working brains. Just because this has been the norm in multiplayer games for so long doesn't mean it should be like this. This kind of "culture" needs to bloody die, but it won't because people are fucking morons. It's without a doubt one of the main reasons I quit Smite. Every fucking idiot just acting like a jerkoff spewing insults from the start of the match, when they in fact had no idea how to play and were completely ruining the game. I pretty much went back to being a singleplayer gamer again. This is pretty much the only competitive multiplayer game I play and to be fair, in my experience, it hasn't been that bad in this one. I've seen plenty of people talking nonsense in chat, but they mostly get ignored by everyone in this.

Mordhau sits upon that "toxic" community, trolling and silly jokes pretty much enhance your experience in this case much like old-school mods I still play like Moviebattles II for JKA, sure insults and racial slurs can fly (the latter could well be censored, but it's always circumvented in some way. Always). Mostly, it's silly fun though. Look at all those Mordhau videos with bards fucking around or bands of trolls raiding servers.. I'm not always in the mood for that kind of shit either, but I think it's be even worse to eradicate that altogether.
They try to gag their first supporters and moderate ingame interactions, and they will be left with 20 players, considering how big the mindless fun/trolling aspect is for such nice games. Their move though.

Perhaps what's needed here instead of censorship and forced moderation (whether it be Mordhau or any other game) is for you to take a step back and ask yourself "Why am I letting a few words, from someone I don't know and will never meet, affect me to the point where I quit playing?"
We've got a saying in America that most toddlers are (or at least were) taught - "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me". This simple yet wise old adage is lost on most people today, apparently.
Sludge is toxic. Radiation is toxic. Rat poison is toxic. Someone spewing shit about someone elses' mother in the midst of a high tension match is not toxic - it's a tactic.
This fuckin' millennial lexicon is ridiculous, I tell ya.

Totally agreed. Just add a mute feature for those who can't/don't want to deal with slurs and flames (they can have that choice, after all, I'm not always in the mood to get trolled by manchildren) and that's it.

There is a mute feature for chat.
This whole debacle has been triggered by PC Gamer which used the answers two developers gave in an interview and turned them into a witch hunt for racism. I won't put a link to the article, because I want to promote this kind of "gaming journalism" as little as possible.
As with most problems, I think the answer is somewhere in between. Many competitive online games, and MORDHAU is not an exception, can have very toxic communication platforms (chat, voip). I don't think this is really a culture we want to propagate. But at the same time, global censorship is clearly not the solution. In MORDHAU you can mute the chat, mute individual players or vote kick players. I think these settings are more than enough to setup the communication to your level of tolerance. Personally, I hide the chat because I find it pointless. All it does it's to ruin my screenshots.

You are missing some points there, bud.
• I quit WoW last year (I go in and out over the years) ALSO because the community is formed out of a bunch of entitled, alienated, mindless people that don't even bother to respond to your salute or questions and have a very aggressive attitude overall - especially if you DARE to be a casual player and not own some high-level, insane ilvl gear that you need to mindlessly grind like you have no life
• I quit games like Battlefield (4/1) because most of the people are mindless sheep that have no idea how to play the game, yet they whine in the chat that ALWAYS there's someone else to blame (oh, I also stopped playing as EA has turned this into a COD game)
SO, you see, it's not (only) about "toxicity", it's about the overall EXPERIENCE that you have in the company of that social environment. And today... sadly, many of these communities are absolutely shite.
For someone that has dealt with this 10-15 years it comes a time when you start prioritizing what really is important or not, what is fun and deserving and what... is not.
