Just publishing but yeah quite few layoffs as a result of that decision. Likely means cheaper to outsource publishing to existing Japanese companies then like say Square and others.
"It also comes down to changing how we launch games and how we rolled out and you should expect we'll start to test things like soft launches, the same things that you see in the mobile space right now," Wilson said.
"And it also comes down to changing how we communicate with players. And our entire marketing organisation now is moving out of presentation mode and into conversation mode and changing how we interact with players over time."
You have to wonder how much longer will investors keep believing in this crap, especially when similar products out there like anthem (Division 2, Destiny 2) and focused SP games like ME: andromerda (although not necessarily RPG, but ME:A wasn't that much of that) from other companies keep thriving.

They probably balanced out the terrible Anthem sales numbers with the money and profit they are making off Apex Legends instead.
IMO frant is spot on, it's more likely the herpa durps blowing money away in utransactions in FIFA, NBA and whatever else that still keep the money pouring in.

Don't even have to look far, on the hump we even have people defending the microtransactions because they are fifa knobs.
I mean you just can't beat the mass appeal of sports games. Mix in lootboxes, MTX and you have a winning formula. As long as EA holds the licenses, no one can compete in that space.
Apex is more of a hit wonder, but yearly sports games guarantee success and the stability of EA. I'd argue the sports games are precisely why they don't give a shit about consumer's reception to their other products. They always have a fallback, and they always have the finance to fund another attempt at another"Apex". Anthem failed? Sure, but it still sold enough. EA will always have the money to buy another dev to make them more "AAA" games.
I wish for a global ban on loot boxes. µ-transactions is different and something that won't go away as long as people buy some pink pants or silly glasses for their in-game characters. The biggest issue is P2W schemes though.
Meh, I remember when games were just about having fun once you bought it ( ).
