What's more peculiar is they are still making 3-4 million dollars a month from crowd funding on their site. After all the info that came out there are still people throwing money at them.

Edit: While I was typing this post I checked again and there were 27 new backers according to the site tracker. Laughing

I paid $10 at the start and will get the games (SQ42 when it's finished and Star Citizen I can play anytime I want but I don't want to play a pre-alpha) and I'm fairly content. If I had spent $500 or more I'd be absolutely fuming though. On the other hand, people who keep feeding the hand that bites them pretty much deserve what they get. Still, Star Citizen isn't gone or down the drain, it's continually being worked on and performance + content has been improved greatly in the last ~12+ months.

The one thing that annoyed me was the lack of SQ42 which was promised to be released waaaaaay back but Chris Roberts apparently got so much money from backers that he decided to screw 42 and focus entirely on his 'dream'. After all the backlash it seems that issue changed a while back so we may actually get Squadron 42 Part 1 in 2020 or so. It should've been released years ago though.

If they wanted to deliver a product they would focus on a single-player campaign first. But they don't want that, they want a games as a service thing going.

The problem seems to be that they (the actual devs) might want to, but Roberts is micromanaging everything which means they have to go through multiple iterations of working systems. Which in turn burns through money and time.

Tbh I wish they never did the Squadron 42 in the first place.

Talk about spreading your butter thin, given how bad Roberts is at managing projects, that possibly was the giant straw that broke the camels back.

They could have done Squadron 42 after Star Citizen released and did well and do it with the resulting revenue stream.

Though who am I kidding, you could tell Roberts to create a new simple Minesweeper version and he'd spend 500 million on it and It'd never release.

If Roberts planned to make a new Minesweeper it would be:
-open world - 1:1 earth
-you would have to take a sapper training in game
-you would also have a family
-you would have to provide to the family
-he would spend 2 years and 200 mln dollars to research and make the best mine explosions
-half way into project he would add IED
-you would have to earn or buy different explosive engineer equipment
-if you would loose limbs the game would continue as a disabled vet
-you would have to learn how to live with your prostetic arm or live shitting in to a bag stripped to your belly
-the voyages to different places on Earth would be in real time ig immersive
-most of the time you would just sit in base and wait for assigment
-he would make a second game integrating with this game but it would be a soldier simulator

I can’t get my head around the idea of people spending upward of $500 and more on a ship.
That’s a serious amount of money for something that only exists in a computer game.

Have all the other ships that have been for sale (some for years now) been actually completed? I remember some announced ships being a lot more expensive than $675.

First post is seven years ago Sad

This is a space game, how large is the actually universe for it going to be? Where would you go if the game only exists of two suns, a couple of planets and some moons Wink Instead of making the universe bigger and giving it content, they are making ships they can sell for lots of cash, but ships to fly where?

One of the era posters got one of the people who was on the event to post the menu.

I mean they'd probably buy whatever but yeesh that's some real shit value for near 275 USD for food and then listening to the devs selling some ideas and upcoming stuff that isn't even implemented in the game yet although at least Star Citizen itself is progressing along albeit slowly.

Wasn't even the epic Frankfurter of legend that looks like a [bleep] or how to describe it with actual words. Razz

(Yeah looking up old receipts for ideas and finding that thing and it'll probably haunt me forever even more than some of the mousse and gels that people fucking *ate* in the 1960's in the dark ages before the microwave and..melted cheese on macaroni. There's other stuff though at least. Very Happy )

EDIT: To be fair though up until 1960's and 1970's somewhere around there there's some really nice dishes to get inspired by and then...that happened.

EDIT: Technically I guess that's 1275 USD but those 1000 were invested in the game so if it does pan out I guess they'll have a fancy designer ship (Or all of them, there's a few who have bought all the content so far even the idea stuff that doesn't actually exist yet.) and some other extras and cosmetics plus they get to say stuff like "Told you." over how the game was actually finished heh.

Which it could very well be and it might live up to hype and expectations but the way they keep going with these bits of content and other stuff is odd but eh it works I suppose, 300 some odd million and counting and probably also having spent a significant amount of money now over these seven years or so it's been in development by this point.
(Keep showing progress too so can't really call it vaporware though I wonder how it will end up.)

The whole menu is easy and fast to prepare and make. I guess someone from the CIG made it for the dinner which would be nice. Personally I am not a fan of sausages (not that it's for me Very Happy ) but the breaded schitzel is always great.

$275 for a 3 course mail, containing fries, a bratwurst and a coke?
(wine with fries!? bweurk)

Well, if there are idiots spending thousands on virtual shit, they will also be willing to pay hundreds for fries and a coke Laughing

I once went to a 2 star restaurant and paid 180€ per person, and that was for 6 courses with adapted wine per course.
