Also havent even tried this yet (and its from my home country), it just looked so clunky and odd when I watched the gameplay vids.

I just bought this a couple of days ago. Level of immersion is so great. I will be back with a review, when I finish, but overall, but this game is quite a gem, well worth the bucks.

Then a month for the patch fixing all the quests and mechanics the dlc broke, but overall this summer we should have the game Vavra wanted to deliver in late 2015.

You're in for a superb ride, I'd like to be able to reset my memory through hectoliters of fine ale and play it all over again.
One advice that I would give is, the satisfying difficulty curve and realism will noticeably soften in the last half of the game, so take your time with learning skills and try not to hone your abilities too quickly. Noob Harry is the best Harry
The modding scene is quite minimal at the moment (official Tools aren't out yet), but I'd recommend grabbing at least the No Mo' Slow Motion, Remove Those Stupid Trails and First Person Herb Picking ones. They're relatively small fixes that however improve the already excellent immersion.

Thank you for the tips.
Problem is, I did make the mistake of constantly seeking out the greatest challenge in the beginning - so I hunted out the bandit and cuman camps, have done a couple of higher (est?) level camps, and now I just killed Runt (which as I understand is around 1/3 of the main quest). In hunting down these challenges I ... I kind of ended up with 40k gold, best horse money could buy, best weapons and armor money could buy, and already maxed out my maintanance skill for example. (I hauled all their loot - invested in carry capacity early - and when I was but a noob, I stealth killed them while they slept).
I enjoy the combat, but overall the great thing about the game is how rewarding the many interlocking systems are. It's the opposite of instant gratification.
And the setting, the dialogue, the characters. I love it all to bits. Classic. And so very refreshing - a good RPG without SJW shit hitting you in the head constantly. A very long time ago most games were like this. Now it stands out.

The Royal Edition is €27.69 on cdkeys. Been thinking about getting that, but I have plenty of games to play right now. What I need is more time... heh

It's one of those very rare games, where what you do in the world only very slowly gets better, you need patience and some skill to master it. And then, many hours in, once you do, it becomes so fucking rewarding. All that time you put in the world, in your skills, in the characters, it starts paying off.
Never has a game made me want to hunt for example - I hate it. Yet I just spent 30 minutes hunting game, because starting from a nobody, 40 hours in, I now am a master huntsman of a small village. I earned this with hard work, and damn it, I will do my job now!
Truly, very immersive game. An RPG can absolutely work, and work very well, without mystical beasts and without magic.

I would recommend playing it on hardcore on your first playthrough. It's a very immersive experience. Similar to ranger hardcore mode in Metro.

You can skip them if you haven't played them. They are basically extended quests and a money sink. The last . unreleased one introduces new mechanics and story and is rumored to be 5-6 hours of content. The other ones are ~2 hours a piece.

I played this for about 20 to 30 hours on release, not touched it since but have kept it updated.
Are there a lot of changes that make starting a new game a more sensible thing to do? Or can I just carry on?
Cheers

The freshly released version was quite a mess with many game breaking bugs so if you would like to avoid those I strongly recommend starting from scratch. Seeing how amateursih clusterfuck coding it has been I doubt that such an old old save is remotely compatible with newer versions of the game.

My saves work fine and I assume as the bugs (well some) have been ironed out I should be OK in that respect. I meant more sort of gameplay wise, quests, NPC's interaction, that sort of thing.

Roughly ~10 new quests, a couple of mini games and lite city management component, tournaments, dog companion (coming with the last dlc), improved stealth, more weapons and armor. I'm probably forgetting something. Don't use your old saves though, it's most likely impossible to finish the campaign.

Is there any improvement on performance? The towns were pretty hard on the cpu. At least mine.

So far, no. And I doubt there will ever be any (big) improvement. Rattay being the problem area really. I always dip down with 20fps there. No matter the settings.
So eventually better hardware is needed to push through the slog and get acceptable fps (even though it will still dip).

There was some performance improvement with patch 1.3 or 1.4 I believe, but anything substantial isn't happening. Their scripting systems and how CryEngine works basically tanks the performance at specific places during the game.

Quote: | Publisher Deep Silver and developer Warhorse Studios have announced Kingdom Come: Deliverance Royal Edition, which includes the base game in its enhanced version, all free and paid downloadable content released thus far, and access to the upcoming “A Woman’s Lot” content upon release.
While PC players will be able to play the Royal Edition of Kingdom Come: Deliverance and its upcoming DLC, ‘A Woman’s Lot’, on May 28, console owners must wait until June 11.
You play as Theresa accompanied by her loyal dog Tinker in a standalone questline. You will experience the ordinary life in Skalitz and later witness fateful events of Sigismund’s raid from a completely different perspective. A Woman’s Lot provides the last puzzle of the Kingdom Come story, as you find out what happened just before Henry was found unconscious.
The dog has its own set of abilities which you can level up, including “sense of smell” this will help in sniffing out the enemies that cross your path. But don’t expect the dog to stay loyal if he isn’t treated well, the ability “obedience” will determine if your sidekick will continue to follow you. Praising, feeding and keeping the dog from getting continually attacked by those who pose a threat, will also play a part in your canine friendship.
Henry will be making his return in a “big questline” in a “Joan of Arc” styled adventure. What’s also interesting about Theresa’s playthrough, is that your paths will cross with Henry’s, being able to see him in third-person, as the story runs parallel with the events you experience with Henry.
Theresa has her own ways to deal with the attackers that still appear around the outskirts of town, using stealth to sneak up behind them, killing them off and of course taking their loot. This isn’t the only way to tackle foes, as you can even send in your dog to attack them. Tinker can do more than just be a personal attack dog, his role also helps you discover new quests, stashes and even find people to help. But it isn’t just Theresa that gets her own furry companion, Henry will have his own too which will also have the same abilities. |

I seriously doubt that, that will piss of a lot of people since you can be sure there will be tons of bugs and some might be game breaking. I'd probably wait 6 months at least before playing this addon, but i'm very picky (to get the best experience)..
