Code padding, dead fluff that doesn't impact things directly but makes debugging via common tools a fucking nightmare or something to that effect, also yes it really bloats out file size by a factor of 10x or more.
(Unpacked the game exe is around 48 MB.)
EDIT: It's intent is to make reversing and debugging take a very long time and require a ton of resources such as memory by having all this extra code.
(And it just gets worse and worse for how much padding they do use.)

I know, but in the past the increase with the junk code on D protected title was at 50-100%, this one now has over what, 900% increase in junk code. This is absolutly insane and no wonder we dont see any D games lately if this is the new norm.
Ridicilous -.-
Just checked an Anno has 400 Megs, pretty sure the actual code is just 25-50 (maybe 100) Megs. (Ofc just assumption)
I see great times coming for all the legit owners.
Seriously if this is all they can do they are just fucking morons.

FC is the same. Clear outpost, race, Poker(3rd episode only), story and that's it. |
Far Cry games actually have side missions and the world is filled unlike RAGE 2. The campaign in FC games were also fairly long to give some value.
In RAGE 2, the entire game has 8+1 missions in total. No sides. No character related quests. Nothing. In those 8 missions, 2-3 felt the same with copy-pasted level design and throwing crusher mini-boss.
Coming to activities - which you are forced to do as you need to be level 5 in each of the 3 projects, they are just uninteresting. Maybe 2-3 or even 5 times and after that it becomes boring. Same micro storage containers/ark chests. Same camps and sentries. The bounties are unrewarding and don't add anything new to standard kill X guy. Some of the bounty targets were just standard enemy.
Just finished and it took only 6 hours. Now there is nothing to do other than clearing camps/roadblocks/destroying sentries and upgrade more stuff...to do nothing. The game feels empty.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.

I am pretty sure eventually scene groups will find way to automate things up, and then increasing the junk stuffs in the code will be ineffective.

The playthrough time really varies, someone says its 10 hours to finish the main story, someone says 3-6 hours.
FC has side missions, I don't mind what they call it. In the end you do the same stuff, go kill, and yeah in FC press button to steal important stuff.
For me personally that adds zero value.
Nothing wrong with you saying rage 2 is not your cup of tea, but I fail to see what is the added value in FC missions that really set it aside from "killing things".
(Again: I love FC as well)

I'm 12 hours in and still haven't even met the old guy for his missions yet.

I assume you like it then.
I was only able to play like 3 hours or so.

in Rage 2 I recommend you immediately reach all 3 major cities and start their questlines, so you can open their projects
there are very important projects like:
localizing chests/datapads
increasing loot

At first I was disappointed but the more I played and the combat opened up the more i'm enjoying myself now. It won't win any awards but it's a solid game.

As they said in the reviews - the first zone is lacking
but after you exit it the action increases

Played a bit and for me, right now, I'd say it's:
Worth playing, not worth buying. Well, maybe for 20 bucks top. Maybe.

I think its on par with the 1st one. That was at that time "more of the same", nothing more.
(Ok technically it introduced the megatextures)

It runs quite well on my OCed Vega 64. Locked at 60 FPS on 1200p, the GPU never even reaches its highest state.
edit: Even VSR on 2560x1600 its still buttersmooth and not needing the full GPU power to keep 60 FPS. Nice.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I knew something was going to be wrong when I saw 4 weird females out of 5 NPCs in some gameplay video.

Well, taking into account the setting of the game troons are not that out of place
If they start popping up on TES6 then it's another matter
