This is worthy of celebration and articles upon articles. It's the first time in the history of TV that a woman will direct an episode of a TV show. Just like Captain Marvel is the first female hero that females around the world can look up to. We're making real progress here in this patriarchal society. Maybe one day we'll even have a female captain in Star Trek. Perhaps even a black one!!111!
On a serious note: Her prior work doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence that this will be anything but another STD you don't want to contract. To say the least.
Who cares about a director in a TV series. It's all about the showrunner.

Stewart does have a say in the story and scripts as far as the dialogue and tone of the character for whether it fits Picard or not but it hard to say if he does actually use that influence or not but we will find out soon enough since the show will air later this year.
