Shame it's not IPS. Va fucking sucks balls with it's gamma shift, cone view, viewing angles and so on... although the huge curve might help with that. But it's not going to help with smearing. it is still va... which is barely fast enough for 60hz, let alone 200 and it's a va tech limitation. Only some transitions can be fast enough for 200hz. Typical va transitions will still be 20-30ms. And the dpi is not the best.
But I have to say - It looks very impressive and at least have some (too little) dimming zones. The thickness is not a bad thing at all. It does not matter if the screen is 1cm or 10cm thick. It does not change it's placement on a desk or anything and I prefer the monitor to be fat but better.

The price is in dreamland(nightmare) territory though and high refresh oled tv is available for this much

Heh. Could be a virus/malware that draws a bug on top of everything else on the screen.

EDIT: I was right.

Quote:
Hi all,

I have some malware on my computer (Windows 10) that creates small "bugs" that crawl around on your computer screen. They look, move and act very realistically, causing myself to doubt my sanity a few times as I tried to push on them through my LCD screen. But they are indeed software- upon close examination you can see the little pixels that make up their bodies. I noticed this happening after I downloaded some video game emulation software "retroarch" and also a torrent full of retro arcade games (MAME).

It COULD be a real bug though, esp. if it's an S-IPS panel since there's a gap between the display panel and glass panel.

You need a debugger though.

Haha damn, that does suck indeed. When it happened to me with my previous monitor I was lucky enough that after 3-4 days of constant hyperactivity the tiny intruder eventually ended up dying (I think) near one of the borders and never showed up again. Just let nature do its course and hope for the best Very Happy

From comments and threads I read while DDGing the subject they all wrote that they had the latest updates for whatever AV and anti-malware tool they used.

To me it seems like a semi-benign rude joke about the word Bug when it comes to hardware/software. As for the bug looking too real, using some ClearType-like rendering filter it would do subpixel-rendering just right.

But as I said, it might be a real live bug. Do NOT try to squash it. You'll most likely kill a couple of pixels or have the bug permanently splattered on that area. If you're REALLY good with taking apart electronics equipment and putting them back together you "could" try to dismantle your monitor to the point where you can separate the front glass from the LCD-panel and remove the little BUGger. I'm not sure if it's possible in case they glued the LCD-panel and front glass (with a gap in between to protect the LCD-panel from bumps on the front) while assembling the monitor.

If it IS an actual insect I'd probably hope that it left the screen and died. If you turn the monitor off for a couple of hours it won't be attracted to the LCD-panel since bugs tend to seek light and heat sources.

paxvobiscum wrote:
EDIT: I think I can prove this my recording my screen in OBS and at the same time with my smartphone in real life. In real life it should show the bug, but in the recording it shouldn't appear, if true.

It depends. If the programmer is smart enough the bug could be drawn in a "layer" of it's own and avoid screen recording tools. Most unlikely though. The easiest way to discern it is to reboot into BIOS. If it's still there it's not bugware (unless someone hacked the firmware for the GPU you have or the UEFI bios firmware for your motherboard but now we're talking ridiculous NSA-conspiracy stuff Razz ).

PS. OBS is awesome freeware with no problems recording and encoding Full HD @ 60fps.

dunno the english word, but its a "gewittertierchen"

simply lifehack for it: turn off the display, put it in a dark room and put a bright lamp next to it. turn the lamp an, wait a few hours, badabing -> the thing crawls out

dont squash it, dont wait too long (though it might be possible to shake it out after its dead)

There is soon coming 43" 4K 144hz gaming displays with HDR1000 and freesync from Asus and Acer, not sure what kind of backlightning they use for HDR (it needs to have fald if its HDR1000 certified), but sounds amazing since their price is only 1300 ish dollars, damn if these would be 32" tho, 43" is damn big.

lg 27uk650 4k 27" 40-60 freesync here. Can recommend - Freesync works perfectly on 2070 and colors are good. Also - there is almost no bleeding on this lg unit. For single player gamers wo like eye candy, 4k is a good choice.

yes, it is too small on desktop (have to use 150% scaling but everything looks vector clear). In games it looks good though. just gives the nice, sharp anti aliasing effect Laughing

Rose tinted glasses. Carrying around those motherfuckers isn't fun when you're taking the train to some big hack somewhere (and you have to bring your computer etc. as well). And the space they take.

im looking for a new monitor, maybe someone in here could help me.
no matter what monitor review i see, every are problems with backlight bleeding, frame skipping, colour banding, panels with a sparkle effect and what else.
currently im using a cheap 1080p 60hz monitor with tn panel, never had a better monitor and always tn. i don't mind the "bad" viewing angles and i doubt that i will notice stuff like colour banding anyway. backlight bleeding or frame skipping on the other hand shouldn't be there, since im pretty sure i will notice it.

so this time i will pay more then 200-300 euro. up to 500 euros, not a cent more and it should have the following:
- resolution 2.560x1.440
- 27"
- 144hz+
- no widescreen
- vesa mount
- freesync (if possible gsync, but at this price range i doubt this will happen, except for the monitor i link in this post)
- tn or ips panel, no va

i don't need speakers, no gaming design, fancy stands and other stuff like that.

https://www.amazon.de/Acer-Predator-XB271HUAbmiprz-DisplayPort-H%C3%B6henverstellbar/dp/B01EN5JN5K
have seen this monitor, but after seeing some reviews im not sure now.
it's so cheap for all the features it offers, but then again it looks like shit (stand, logo, cheap case around the panel) and "expert" reviewers always had something bad to say about it, but then again they have this with every monitor.

thanks guys

/edit
there is also this one, but someone said it has frame skipping, while others said it has not. im so confused.
