XM works great with the FM transmitter and even better with the tape adapter in the car or stereo hook up at home.

I thought good sound quality was the point of satellite radio?
ahhh .. maybe you don't live in an area with good coverage?
Quote: | In the US, FM radio frequently has superior sound quality compared to the Sirius and XM radio feeds. This is a result of broadcasters use of low bit-rate codecs to place too many channels in inadequate bandwidth. |

The FM transmitter is the problem, but still the music is still compressed, so it will never be CD quality. They advertised CD quality.
Me thinks.
Good idea of pluging into the tape player. I will have to find one.
thanks

Got the tape player adapter, works good, sounds like tape quality.
Learned a lesson, if you get satellite radio, hardwire it. Forget the FM transmitter.

If you spent many hours on the road, then it would be worth it.
But it is the future. Just like cable TV when it first came out.

Depends on the head unit you have.
I tried this on my Pioneer only to find that... The aux line goes directly to the speakers. Not through the unit = no amplification = no volume adjustment other than iPod = loudest setting lower than cruising road noise... oh well.
But if your aux goes through the unit then this works excellently much better than with a tape. |
Ditto about the Pioneer i couldn't hear a damn thing out of it so now i just use the tape it sounds damn good with an ipod.
