How high are the chances for an isodemo?
IIRC SC2 took quite some while for one too. Sad

Nope, they charge 15 bucks for it Laughing
And if you own original SC with BW you get to download it in battle.net client now. And the remastered thing is just couple of graphics options that are grayed out if you don't own it

Thanks, Now you pretty much destroied any slightest of thoughts I had of buying it, So I am pretty much get(already have) the game for free with the updated battle.net options aside for the Graphics 'DLC's' options?

The fact that we now have to pay for better graphics option in game is the lowest as I ever saw and I think those kind of things should be limited by laws.

I am pretty sure there is a(free) mod that existed for ages that added more sharper options

As I pointed out eariler, The DLC's and people willing to shell cash corrupted Blizz,

How might has fallen Sad

On the bright side, it's probably done so old version can play with up do date players so it's won't hurt the current number of players that left.

And Nova packs yet to be cracked.. more then year now..

RLD used to crack SC2 games, but they somehow stopped since LoTV(no updats as well)

And no group has yet to step in...

There can be no mods for this because Blizzard has the original graphics assets.

"Smooth Unit Turning" is quite intriguing, it can really make the game not looking like it's 20 years old (not kidding).

The game has online authentication so a crack might take a while, playing without the asset updates might be possible though if the remaster update is the only thing locked out. Smile

The game does not start in Remastered mode if you can't be authenticated on start. That is, you need internet connection to play the Remastered game even in campaign mode. So much for their "Offline LAN and Campaign" promise.

Online Authentication is very old method at this point, I guess it is more to do with lack of BT emulators for most scene groups and RLD gone downhil(bearly releasing anything these days).

Yeah, and it's a bit amateurish.

Tried the campaign last night with all new bells & whistles turned on. Looks great, slightly weird at first because the graphics is now TOO sharp, but the original art style is preserved (it was also cartoonish, but "dark" cartoonish and not so obvious due to low res).

I just tried last night "To Chain the beast " Map from Mass Recall, on the hardest difficulty..

One thing for sure : It seems to me the Fan Remake is far more challenging then the original one/remestarted , I have yet to make any signify progress.. ,
That mission was already hard in the original but the Fan remake hardest settings took it to a whole new level.

I just read/saw on youtube from a guy who started an whole walktrough of the official remestarted that aside from graphics improvements(and battle net) they didn't actually changed the gameplay at all, not even changed the diffictuly/AI settings, something that mass recall did... Even added more challenge options.

I concur. I did beat Mass Recall Terran campaign in early 2013 and it was a complete bitch, difficulty went through the roof compared to the original SC:BW, which wasn't bad per se, it was added fun. Two years later, in the 2015 summer I did beat the whole Mass Recall's three races campaign and it was really difficult in parts and easier on some others.

TL;DR: Mass Recall adds an extra flavour to the old, beloved SC and SC:BW campaigns. Must play for RTS fans (and it's completely free). Remastered should be exactly the same as the originals.

The remastered version is faster but otherwise it seems to be near identical.
(Someone in that Neogaf thread even had a mission with a 30 minute countdown, ended after 20 so it does run a bit faster in general for some reason.)

You can even toggle the new graphics on the fly which is why things like the new portraits are a bit wonky in terms of animation as they needed to sync exactly to the old ones.

But that also means pathing issues and similar are unaltered though fans seem to prefer it for some reason?
(Can't select more than X units can be a gameplay thing but having your units spread all over when trying to navigate through a area is more of a glitch I'd say.)

Did he play on normal speed? Because if you speed up gameplay in options, in-game scripted timers also speed up (this doesn't mean the total runtime of a game).

Looks like that was it, game defaults to faster by default for the speed settings.

The game runs at "faster" which is like 1.5x the speed.

The game is exactly the same on purpose, the only changes are cosmetic and optional. That idiot got confused because they changed the default game speed? Laughing

Incredible. Redoing the (display) engine to support modern OSs and APIs and creating new sprites (with specular, normal, emissive, etc maps) was *work*. Base game is now free. I don't see how you can possibly complain about them asking for a small amount in return for the work they did

new GFX + exact same gameplay.. really couldn't ask for them to have done any better.

Well, tying it to the Blizzard app is kinda lame. For a couple hours after remastered launched I could run it without the app. Oh well!

no I know where I am. A forum of cheapasses who don't want to pay anything to run games on the computers they must have found at the dump or something. I'm here too. We at least try to make our excuses sound sort of logical though. It's just too much for me when a dev makes their game free and someone is still bitching.

Like we pretend devs have done something slimy therefore it's cool to isodemo it. But we don't pretend that no one should charge money for their game ever. Bro I was replying to just sounded dumb as hell. Just go with "I don't want to pay for things"

so its not enough with the 3 files that the mapster site says is all you need, you also need the cinematics from the older version?

Edit: i guess pickupartist means 7.2 because there's no 7.3 cinematics... i'll give it a go.
Edit 2: Seems to work.

Here's a small install guide for people who are unfamiliar with running mods with SC2:

1) install free version (took me ages, said it lost the internet connection, each time it installed perhaps 5-10% of the game so i had to restart like 15-20 times).

2) Create folder Maps and Mods in C:\Program Files (x86)\StarCraft II (or whatever you used)

3) install the 3 files here
https://www.sc2mapster.com/projects/starcraft-mass-recall

4) for some reason "StarCraft Mass Recall" is not located in "Maps" in the main mod file (SCMR_v8.0) so it needs(?) to be moved there, at least that's the default way of installing maps.

5) install https://www.sc2mapster.com/projects/starcraft-mass-recall/files/2819339, overwrite the dummy file.

6) start the mod by using SCMR Campaign Launcher in Maps/Starcraft Mass Recall
(press right most green button in the editor to start it)
