I mean, it's a pathetic mentality. The childish word "fanboy" is pretty apt for such a childish way of thinking. Now i don't mean that it's not OK to be fan of something, but to go to extremes to try to make a fool of someone for criticizing what you ohh so much love or just spin out of orbit in rage. It's pathetic guys. Stop it! It's truly.. and utterly.. pathetic.

Do you even recognize this behavior in yourself when someone dissed something you like? This is something I've always wondered. I do figure that serious lack of self reflection is a factor to this issue.

Yes, they are extremely common and very annoying. I don't think I've had brand loyalty since 8 years old, the worst trait is that they generally they don't back up their opinions just post garbage.

I became a fanboy when I was about 16y old and discovered the wonderous effects of alcohol on my brain.

"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

The kind of hater you likely mean is a type to be disliked for sure. But "fanboys" won't be able to judge what is real and valuable criticism and what is hatred for no reason, or hatred for jumping on a "hatetrain" like some sheep. Maybe it doesn't matter if it's valuable criticism, and just bad enough that you have something bad to say about the product? I can only speculate.

Naturally we have to distinguish between "hatetrains" because a developer added a mole on a character and some "utuber" as Leo likes to call them makes a fuzz about it, and "hatetrains" because a developer changes the entire game after E3.

I love how i'm serious and the humps.. are the humps LaughingLaughing

Nothing new there. So many retarded texts I sent to exes, things I said around people, situations I ended up crafting my way out that it's just part of the "one too many" incidents. Sometimes you're ready for it, sometimes you're not.

If you think about it: why are people religious? Because they need something in their life to believe in and hold on to. Since my teen years, I noticed similarities between Apple fanboys and religious people: both would swear by their beliefs, both would ignore any evidence you show to the contrary, both would ignore the negatives, both feel part of a community of like-minded people who band together to feel more convinced of their own convictions.

And that's your answer: people just need something to cling onto. You'll often see that when people find something else to cling onto, they often stop being fanboys about the previous thing because they don't need the emotional satisfaction anymore.

Lots of people here are conceited pc fansboys being honest..

What else there is the whole anit-noPC atmosphere? Or that just my imagination?

Yeah, I am mostly PC gamer myself and loves to buy expensive products from time to time...
But I not whining that much when we get ports from consoles and proudly loves emulation.

For a large part it is just that. A lot of the PC master race bit is just people having a laugh/provoking console players.

Of course there is a small group of people that take it serious and use PC master race unironic. They are idiots, its best to ignore them and not represent them as the big bulk of PC users.

I love my consoles (less so the modern ones, easier to be critical of their practices) and do quite a bit of emulation (consoles and PC). But without a doubt consoles will be in most cases the lesser experience compared to PC.

A history of shitty ports haven't helped changing that perception either, but usually those are Publisher/Dev choices. The more modern consoles have made a lot of the game genres feel more dumbed down though. But lately its so baked into the PC 'exclusives' that it gets harder to just blame it all on consoles.

Couch play used to be a big pro for consoles but with the Steam/Nvid/... streaming even the PC does that without hassle.

With emulation, I'm not a purist. I like to bump up the visuals/frame rates so PC is usually my preferred way of playing console games.
The moment emulation delivers a good experience the original HW gets packed up and stored (With some minor exceptions: DC and SNES. They are always set up)

But... yeah there are some valid reason to criticise consoles and their makers but blindly hating them is as bad as blindly praising them.

At least we all unite in hating mobile gaming, right? Cool Face
