So I guess that 15 years ago is in reference to the destruction of Romulus from the Star Trek Reboot. It would have been more fitting if they took some of the stuff from the books and had it be when Picard, Riker and Dax each captaining their own starships finally destroyed the Borg once and for all as at least then it would feel like Picard had accomplished all he needed to in Starfleet.

There are four lights! is all I can think of really affecting Picard by the destruction or Romulus.

Can we go back in time and kill Kurtzman before writes ST09 and takes the helm of CBS Star Treks?

Discovery severely eroded my faith in the future of Star Trek if the shitty movies didn't kill it already. Hollywood is too infested with SJW culture for Star Trek to work.

Star Trek was ALWAYS ahead of its time, ALWAYS socially aware, ALWAYS trying to push boundaries ... but it's just not enough and they HAVE to make it political, drawing immature links to RL events.

Indeed. There were scenes that were literally just feminist quotes in a way that breaks immersion, when you'd think that the 23rd century should be different, not needing sexist remarks anymore. (From either side)

“Because he’s no longer in Starfleet, he no longer carries the weight of that behind him,” Kurtzman says. “In some ways, it’s easier to be [a great man] when you’re a captain. But it’s an entirely different thing when you don’t have an army behind you. When you want to get something done and fight an injustice, how do you do that when you’re really only one man?”

Will it have plenty of SJW-friendly newcomers and a superficial sonsensical plot about a strong women salted with many guest stars and cameos for the fanboys? Will it have holographic interfeces and dark places with many shiny and blinky? Yes?

These are my fears based on STD and this trailer and I hope I‘m wrong.

Coming up with fan service cameos is the simplest thing in the world. People have nothing to be excited about that. The question is, does this show honor the memory of what made Picard such a great character that you love. (If you don't know what made him great, are you really a fan at all?) So it's best to wait until the plot is at least somewhat known. Experience (Discovery) tells us they have no idea what made Star Trek Star Trek, and so will fuck it up.

I don't get how some shows have so much finished footage, so fast. The Witcher trailer surprised me to. I don't think it was like that some time ago.

Wow the sticklers are feeling the pain here aren’t they!

If you wanted a carbon copy of TNG then just watch the Family Guy Star Trek. The fact you’ve come to these conclusions after a 2 min trailer makes me laugh. Let’s not forget, the main man himself pretty much designed and wrote this from the ground up. I trust the baldy myself...

No i just dont want to watch a show where they parade the copse of something that used to be good for dollars. It just looks like fan service x1000 rven the title is uninspired. Pew pew lasrers, picard so old he barely gets a line out... hey remember 7-of-9? Crying or Very sad

The only thing I got from the teaser is a flashback to the final two episodes of TNG where we do indeed see him in the vineyard while being dragged around in time.

Quote:
...and over twenty-five years into the future, where an aged Picard has retired to the family vineyard in Labarre, France.

It seems we're getting that particular slice of time, just with an introspective drama and some "savior"-role. Afaik that's where Patrick Stewart is heading with this.

But it's a teaser and I don't know much beyond that.
