what is a good tool to test memory stability ? im running into a once in a week memory management bluecreen in win7 while watching movies on youtube with a lot of tabs open, like its almost always when some video tabs are open it seems , but also a game loading back to start menu after the battle is over something triggers it sporadicly

i have memtest 64 and maxxmem2 preview but that one doesnt detect any issues, but havent let it run for a longer period of time yet

my memory is set at xmp profile 1 or something, no overclocking

ever since i have had a i7 920 and now i7 3770k memory stability really has been a pain in the ass compared to sdr and ddr1-2 days ... Sad

is command rate 3t really used ? ive always used 1-2 ,

xmp , amp , jedec, man dafuck is all this shit Smile

if memtest86+ (<<--- the name matters, 86 is outdated) runs without errors over 24hours you are fine

and im totally against your view: everything went way better with memory compatibility after s775
(especially with 4 out of 4 banks used, well ryzen still can be a bitch though)

yep, thats why memtest64 sucks. its a windows tool, it cant properly check the complete ram cause windows already uses much of it

either grab memtest86+ directly and put it on an usb thumb drive or get the ultimatebootcd, its integrated there, and do the same (for example with the tool universalusbinstaller)

who said multiple times? if it runs without errors for 24+ hours its rock stable, end of the story. one pass doesnt mean anything, but if its works without problems for that long time its stable

I actually like the built in Windows 10 one. Seems to pick up bad sticks very quickly without having to do long soak tests.

It's exactly the opposite: plus version is outdated now. The old 86 was purchased several years ago by Passmark and rewritten to better support UEFI systems (plus more stressy algorihms for testing). It's now in active development, unlike 86+.

RAM Test by Karhu Software is IMO the best one. It's not free but definitely the fastest and most reliable test tool. MemTest86 is OK but not as good as RAM Test.

Reaction

Try Furmark, Prime95 Small Test and your 'auto' might do wonders. Laughing
