Never ever EVER back down when it comes to this stuff. You CANNOT make a "modern" retro FPS and then go "well we thought stuff from back then was lame, sexist, racist, bla bla so we didn't do it" and then go so far to edit out something stupid as "Ogay". Your audience expects games that were not afraid to poke fun of all sorts of things because that's what Blood, Duke 3D, etc. were like and that's completely incompatible with the triggered SJWs of today. Just ignore them and focus on your audience. The PR department were morons for not getting that.
3D Realms decided to pander to people who will not buy their products or support them. They should've known better. In doing so they pissed off their small, but loyal fan base, that was always there for them, buying and promoting their games for free. Headlines don't mean as much for smaller niche projects like this one, compared to AAA titles with huge budgets, multiple development teams and a publisher. Maybe next time when they find themselves in a similar situation, they'll stop and think it through, before making any rash decisions.
Btw since I haven't followed this much but read in a passing that the employee said on discord something like: deciding your child to be trans is for people who are mentally disturbed.
I thought: Yes, what is wrong with that? Wouldn't most people in the world think that?
While probably not something you want to talk about in an official capacity for a gaming studio its not something worth all this fuss about.

There was some out of bounds text with something like "xxx(probably some other dev from the studio) is a fagbag" or something like that written.
Also twat-ter reeeeeeing and garme jurnalizm bullshit potentially causing bad optics, from a crowd that likely won't give two fucks about the game because no apology is ever enough.

which is the best out of these new retro 3D shooters (i certainly won't mind if it has some RPG in it) you'd say? i've just played this one, thought it was pretty good/fun.
My enjoyable retro-shooter list: Brutal Doom, Sigil, Ion Fury, Hedon (under-rated), Strafe Gold Edition, Project Warlock and the Blood: Remaster are all fun shooters. I know there are a few others like amid evil, dusk, devil daggers but I didn't get into them.
Upcoming: Wrath: Aeon Of Ruin, Prodeus and now a few more new 3drealms projects.

I didn't enjoyed it. Maybe I'm getting too old for build games.
The lack of variety in enemies and lackluster weapons didn't help it either.
