Guys stop being dishonest about it.
They clearly said they were going the cautious road. And looking of the server state on retail you'd be an idiot to say that's the wrong approach.
Can you two honestly say you'd expected this many servers full? I didn't.. but yes I was sure 2 didn't cut it. At most I thought 6 full pvp servers, mind you the servers have FAR GREATER capacity than the ones we had in 2004.
So yeah it is a bit cheap to give em hell for this. So far they've been adding servers by demand and to me that would be the logical approach. Especially knowing that all these servers will be expecting a huge drop of players as well.

Hindsight is marvellous no?
Beforehand I expected (full or high capacity): 6 PvP, 3 PvE, 2 RP and 1 RP PvP (I'm talking about English realms can't even start to think about the other languages since I never played on those).
That would be about 120 000 players for classic on those servers alone which I thought would be about the number of consistent players (as in: not the early days numbers). Private server community was around 300k.
Hype numbers? I have not put much thought into it and in all honesty I don't think they should have more than what they see as the likely number in 3 months.
(Also: EU region, but that should be obvious if you look at my location )

Bullshit, razorgore which was medium this morning / high tonight.. had a dc for whatever reason, my router stopped working (blaming w10 since wifi was still working just fine, just cabled issue, after restarting w10 it worked again)...
Bam 5 hour queue.
Main PC : I7 12700, MSI Ventus RTX 4090 24gb, Alienware AW3423DW QD-OLED

where do u think all those people with 10k queues went to play haha
and u know, all this shit is happening cause they removed existing technology where instead u could just launch more virtual servers and instances within the same realm and warp people to it where needed, now they need to make whole new realms ... spineles devs giving into a brainles mob
many people got so fucked so hard, its practicly unforgivable, imagine u waited years for this moment and did massive preperations and have a lan with ur mates and 3 of the 5 get in to play and the 2 other just have to sit there staring at a 6 hour queue ... or many streamers having a full group and night of fun prepared, totaly got fucked
they did the same shit at d3 launch, they just suck major ass and there is no defence, d3 was even worse cause they knew exactly how many units got shipped and sold, and knew exctly how many people would log in launch day +-
anyway i had my fun, but the queue caused a level rift between people i play with and if u watch most streams, people just mindlessly soling mobs, there is very very little coop play or interaction (mostly blamed on the total stupid quest item drops design)

Do you play Alliance? Because on Horde we had quite a bit of coop/interaction.
(We're on the same server, that's why I ask)

They were wrong estimating the amount of people interested in Classic.
So there's a chance they might be wrong also about the (big) number of people who will still play after a while.
We'll see.

no horde, but still in barrens and that place is filled with these bad drops quests i guess
and pyrewood queue is a weird beast, im literaly waiting 20 mins for a 100 people queue ... with the queue ticking down 1 person every 1-2 minutes lol, probalby their hotfix was like, removed the first 2 digits of the queue number, BAM FIXED; queues are much shorter now boys!!!
ok spent half an hour looking at the queue in a background tab at <1 min , went from 110 people to 40 ... epic trolls
and now im inside and im in a completely deserted barrens ... like not a single person chatting or anyone in sight and all the mobs alive everywhere i look

what is also a big problem on the realms is peak times versus low times, again , a problem they solved with server instancing in retail, but now showing its ugly head, all the realms are low/lifeless in the early hours of the monring, while in retail, people get zoned into active playerhubs, so its never really dead.
so basicly they will have all this hardware running 24/7 when its only in max use 25% of the time ,
I bet accounting and upper management is gonna come down hard in a few weeks and put a stop to this balony and tell them to get the technology back in to save cash, its such a waste.
Its inevitable and so basicly all this realm bullshit we going through right now would have been all been for nothing. Im putting money down that in one to three months, the blue posts will all be about adding back server instancing and sharding

Yep, that is the one thing that nearly all people believe: Having your own community makes it better. People have a reputation to uphold.
And frankly I think they are right. Take that away and over time you have the exact assholery that is quite common in BFA.

its super easy to program a relation status where people who have encountered each other before in visual range would be ported to same instance, they just to lazy to program it. Its a tech issue, not a 'feeling' issue

That's already in game though for: friendslist and guildies. What you propose wouldn't suffice for having a fixed community.
