Action movies is something i usually skip, i do enjoy them occasionally. Rambo (2008) was great for example, it had a nice drive to it that i enjoyed, satisfyingly brutal. Some of Tarantino's more action oriented movies are cool too.. I guess i enjoy them mostly when they're bordering to splatter movies, so not Mission Impossible etc..

Anything you can recommend in that vein?

Among the recent-ish ones I'd add Upgrade, it delivers a pretty decent dose of raw action. The Raid flicks offer rather brutal fights as well. Other candidates for violent/unfiltered tones could be Dredd (2012), Sicario, Prisoners, Hobo with a Shotgun, Brimstone, Sin City, Drive, Eastern Promises, City of God, No Country for Old Men, A History of Violence (and more that I can't recall right now).

Scorsese's classics like Goodlellas and Casino could be candidates as well when it comes to zero-fucks-given violent scenes, without forgetting Asian productions like Ichi The Killer, The Chaser, I Saw The Devil and Oldboy.

"I think Call of Duty resonates because it's believable and relatable," Sledgehammer Games cofounder Michael Condrey says.

Believable and relatable...Yep, sounds like Call of Duty

@WhiteBarbarian Thanks! These all look interesting. Bone Tomahawk, ahhh, that's a 10/10 almost, loved that movie, seen it twice. Did not know he made those movies (i have both downloaded since long but didnt watch).

@ixigia: no country for old men is fantastic, watched many times. lots of classics there, seen most of these, all good. Loved Dredd, City of God..

@Waargh There are tons of movies called "Trauma" and from 2018, but i'll take a dig at it..

Serbian film i've heard of, its more like a very disturbing / provocative movie it seems, nah, when i was in my 16-20's i was into that shit, now not so much.
