Damn, this is depressing.
Barely any coverage from either the press (guess the author's not active enough on twatter) or utub/twitch derpfluencers Sad

Hope it sells well so the developer can try his hand at other settings.

EDIT: dumb typo

The game is very niche in its structure and presentation, add to that the mild reception that the base Underrail got from yer main journoutlets back then and this disinterested scenario doesn't come as a surprise (sadly!). It probably doesn't help these days that Styg isn't affiliated to any purplebrity and afaik he is active mainly on the good ol' Codex and on Steam.

The game is interesting. It just doesn't have mass appeal.

Finally began a serious playthrough (had this game since release Laughing ). It's pretty cool so far.

Though its annoying how small everything is if you use native resolution (4K, ultrawide).. it's basically 60% black and then a tiny portion of the actual area you can see in the middle with super tiny details and characters. A zoom function would have been good instead of having to change the resolution to a lower one.

Maybe https://store.steampowered.com/app/993090/Lossless_Scaling/ will help ?!

That program looked interesting so I did a little bit of searching and it seems some mention

http://tanalin.com/en/projects/integer-scaler/

as a free alternative to Lossless Scaling but not sure if the image quality it produces is the same or not.
So, did this work? Any comparison screens?

It was in top 10 bestsellers on the day the video was published by Seth. Yesterday it was in top 20.

Our plans for the future are two-fold. First, we intend to release at least a couple more content updates. These updates will vary in size, but you can probably expect something comparable to this one. They will feature mostly minor quest changes, new items, couple new areas and possibly some moderate mechanical changes. I don't know how frequent these will be, but we'll do our best not to keep you waiting for too long.

Secondly, and this will be our major focus, we'll start working on another expansion for the game. This one will be a standalone campaign in which you'll play as a new character in an area that will not be connected to the main game. We decided to do it this way for two reasons: first, because the base game is big enough as it is and we don't want to add more of the big content chunks either horizontally or through further character scaling (we will be adding some smaller stuff through the content updates, though); and secondly, we want to be able to revisit certain base mechanics and design patterns we used in the base game and improve upon them without either making the game inconsistent or having to redesign major parts of the base game. We'll talk more about what these things are and how we're improving upon them in the future.

The expansion will indeed be stand-alone and there will be updates to the engine as well: https://www.underrail.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=182:codename-infusion&catid=43:dev-log&Itemid=61

Quote:
Back in October I mentioned that we started working on a new standalone Underrail campaign. This is still true, but we've also decided that we're going to give the engine a major upgrade which will help us create a much better game, both visually and mechanically. The thing is - there are certain design and technical decisions that were made early during the development of Underrail that are very limiting to us now, but are not easy to change just due to the amount of content that would have to be redone. So instead of taking a hammer to our beloved game, we're going to improve upon all these things (that we yearned to do for years) in a fresh stand-alone game that will still be based on the same engine core and gameplay mechanics.

i've restarted this game a few times since its release, but it never really clicks with me, don't really know why since i can easily get immersed in Fallout 2 still... will keep trying though, must be in a rather good shape after all these years.

The beginning is a bit slow, and even after several updates the art and quests are pretty weak. It gets more interesting around the middle, and the whole of Expedition is magnificent, so I'm expecting Underrail: Infusion and a proper Underrail 2 to be fantastic.

Like I said, it gets better around the middle, maybe a bit sooner. There's a fun quest pretty early on where you're looking for a serial killer and if you're a dumbass you end up in their torture dungeon xD. Or one where you can choose to work for anarchist scum, or fascist war criminals xD If you choose the war criminals you get to sneak into the anarchist base and unleash a mutagenic gas, which will turn them into bloodthirsty, deformed mutants and if you're unlucky and inhale it: you will turn as well...and there's a whole questline you can follow until the end in that state.

So yeah, there's a world of difference between the beginning and later stages.

It's on the smaller size, and honestly not sure it's worth the price compared to Expedition, but still bought it.

For me main game was too slow. That walking everywhere. Even transport options didn't change much in that regards. 39hours according to Steam, I couldn't go on further.
