With that stupid grin.

By the way anyone come across the bug that doesn't let you save no matter where you go? The save game option just becomes greyed out and stays like that. No thoughts are up or any other special in-game events.
Seems like something in the world broke but the game is waiting for it to finish. Like when you wake up in the morning, it takes a little while for the GUI to show up again.
Does quick save (F5) work?
About getting a bed the first night, I was dreading this, so saved a lot during the first evening, but it wasn't necessary. After 22:00 (I think), Kim says to take care of the debt together. First day, Kim wants to do a debriefing after you finally open your room, so he won't leave you until you do. And I think both the pawn shop as the bartender stay available, even at 2:00. So not sure how you can screw yourself up. Time doesn't move after 2:00, so if you say it's 2:04 it's most likely bug related.
Btw, does the flashlight do something, like help with hidden checks or something? Or is it just to help you as a player to see?
It's not a bug, time stops at 2:00 AM according to a developer's post. Also, if you can't pay your debt until 2:00AM you are pretty much fucked.
Not really. The pawnshop and bartender are still active and Kim won't leave you until you pay for the room.
So:
Spoiler:
Kim will give you some confiscated fancy rims to sell at pawnshop so you will be able to pay for the room.
And on the third day you will get alternative sleeping places.

Hmm... Dunno if it wasn't stealth patched at the weekend. But I'm pretty sure that on my first day I was at two in the morning in the pawnshop and it was still open.
Still I don't know if I got softlock on taking off boots or didn't do something, basically that kind of a game.
started a 2nd run with 1-1-6-4 and just went straight up to cuno and punched him in the face, so satisfying
Cuno's not so bad once you get to know him.
Now that Cunesa or whatever her name is. That's someone I want to punch. CUNOOOO!
He's still willing to protect her no matter what. Maybe I fucked up the following dialogues, but he got pissed and threatened me in the eventuality that I do something to her.
you can actually shot and kill her but it's instant gameover, i still thought it was fucking nuts for a game to allow you to go trough with it, the dev's really have balls of steel
Ya also finished this...awesome game indeed, took me like 40 hours.
This might be one of those games I need to replay from time to time, just like Torment.
Like how there are some finnish swearings/slang (banaanipoika, vittulainen etc.) added to the text. ZA/UM is founded by estonians and is tied to Kaur Kender, who published one very fucked up novel that got him court cases and stuff.

Finished it yesterday and definitively GOTY for me. Even with epilogue being IMO the weakest part, it was a journey. I laughed, I was sad, I felt the melancholy of the world. Just great I can't really recall when a game make me feel something and this one did.
There were some things, some mechanics and moments of being lost because they were time locked that made me pissed but overall it was a humanist experience and great True Detective game.

I haven't even been able to get out of the apartment yet. After a while I gave up and started playing The Outer Worlds instead but I love the depressing humor in it so I'll give it another go when I've finished The Outer Worlds.
The Pale has intrigued me. I hope they get to do a sequel that lets us see more of this great world they've built.
Some of the conversations about the Pale including a certain quest late in the game gave me shivers (lel) about the whole concept, we have enough sequels nowadays as it is, but in this case it would be great to get another game set in the same universe.
Tried to get into this - couldn't do it - I guess I'm just not high brow enough.
Everything in the game, from the way the stats read all the way through to the dialogue, just strikes me as pretentious drivel written by somebody who took a whole lot of psychotropics/LSD and then decided they were going to write down the mysteries of the universe in a fucking War and Peace sized novel. It also doesn't help that your character moves (and looks) like a pig slogging through shit. It's hard to respect a game that doesn't respect my time. The ambiance just isn't there either (neither in music nor voice-acting).
I expected a futuristic noire - what I got was LSD driven bullshit penned by some lunatic who probably says "you just don't GET it man!" a lot.
I sincerely don't understand all the praise this is garnering.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

For me it's the exact opposite. The way the game is presented, how (passive) skills work, the characters, the impact of your choices, the lack of combat, and of course the writing.
It's everything I like about story driven RPGs. I played it about 5 days non-stop (with some shifts of sleep/work ), obsessively.
Started The Outer Worlds yesterday. It sure is... something else
Like first watching Chinatown and then putting on Avengers.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.
I don't think I'll ever enjoy the writing or character building of another game ever again.
Spoiler:
Got super emotional when meeting the insulindian phasmid, I had kept looking at the traps all game long too even after the first go lol, was so satisfying. Wish we had gotten some dialogue with the cryptozoologists afterwards, or if we could've gotten some confirmation on the meeting Lena supposedly had with the insulindian phasmid.
Also speaking to that lady on the ice outside the raver's tent was very strangely cathartic since she was one of the few that recognized your pain after I gave her my hat in my playthrough.

Same. I kept going there to check stuff haha. So I'm very glad that thing happened.
