I'll just post the trailer for those who want to see it and don't want to search for it.
DISCLAIMER: IMO the trailer is spoilery if you watched the earlier trailers and paid attention. If you did not it still will be a convoluted mess of a story.
And also - the trailer is excellent. Can't wait for the game to finally come out.

Kojima, you damn weirdo. I like the... vistas, I guess?
Hopefully it won't be a shit port

Doesn't have to be an "exceptional" year; however I wonder what kind of games that individual does like given the wide range of content that came out that was good.
Obviously terrible games are going to be released; I measure how good a year is but how many good games there actually are and there were more than a few.

Well for me:
Amid evil
Blasphemous
Control
and I think that's it.

7 min launch trailer, hopefully it means that the game is really long.
It's either a generation-defining masterpiece, or the most pompous overhyped piece of shit ever. I'm pretty hyped about this to be fair, the story intrigues me, even though I don't like the America-centric perspective when the message of the game appears to be rather universal.
I think it definitely won't be for each and everyone though.
And my wild guess is that the whole DHL gameplay is only for one part of the game, hence the review embargo past the 3rd chapter.

Maybe wording it "shitty" is a bit too much but, honestly, there was very little in terms of great games. This year i enjoyed A Plague Tale: Innocence, Disco Elysium, Control (up to some extent because of very bland and boring mechanically gameplay in itself) or Outer Wilds. They were at least good and were interesting.
That cannot be said about: another goddamn COD, Anthem, Reskin Boredomlands 3, Gears 5, The Division 2, Wolfenstein Youngblood, Ghost Recon Breakpoint, Rage 2, Far Cry New Dawn. Those sucked IMO and some of them were only clone reskin games which i hate. For me it usually is being uninteresting due to low effort put in creativity. There were also those that i played through but were disappointed because they were not memorable like Metro Exodus or Outer Worlds.
I often found myself reainstalling something or playing games i haven't yet played because they are PS4 games (God Of War, Spider-Man, RDR2 and such). Rimworld, Batman Arkham Games, Alien: Isolation, Dead Space, Oxygen Not Included or IL-2 Sturmovik are excamples of games those that i fall back to when there is nothing new and interesting.
So like i said - a bad year IMO.

What's the deal with this retarded backpack? I hope we can play without it. It looks ridiculous.
Why so few scenes with Mads?
PS The graphics are not very good tbh..
I gather there will be many scenes with Mads when we visit old battlegrounds (per those seen in trailers - WW1, WW2, Vietnam and contemporary) and apparently every time we rest in a bunker afterwards we see Mads via the BB's memories (those are the cutscenes seen through the thick glass).
And graphics? You really don't like them? IMO, for a game that is a PS4 exlusive for now, it looks great. That being said hopefully the PC port looks better or at least has some graphic tweaking options.

what bugs me most about the late pc release is that by the time we get it, much of the "mystery" around this title (which pretty much seems to be the major selling point here) will already be lifted and everybody and their auntie will have heard/read/played tidbits about kojimas new alleged masterpiece and spewed them on the interwebs

My thoughts exactly, I'm both intrigued by the whole thing and at the same aware that it's going to dance on a marmite-flavoured limbo.
I admire Kojima for his creative vision which is a rarity in today's industry, though to be honest the games made by him that I've finished (MGS1, 2 and recently-ish 3 on the emulator) to me don't classify as genuinely great games but are more entertaining style-over-substance exercises. The japweirdness is always a double-edged sword, or like Rino would say, sometimes maybe good, sometimes maybe shit.

Oh sorry, you have mistaken me for someone who gives a shit about that game.
Besides you shouldn't tout exclusives, that's my whole point with consoles. In the end we emulate it anyway. But cheering for exclusives... as a consumer... well that is just dumb.
That means the new game lets Kojima take some bold risks, experimenting with gameplay systems that are somehow utterly isolating and deeply connected to other players at the same time. It also means this is Kojima at his most self-indulgent, with a bloated, convoluted mess of a sci-fi story that’s heavy on complication and light on relatable human moments.
[...]
The voice and motion capture cast does its best to give this material some life, soldiering on through countless “tell don’t show” diatribes that often focus on their characters’ own out-of-nowhere sci-fi powers. But there’s very little real human drama for the cast to hang their hats on; they're dealing with an excess of unnatural dialogue to fight through. When the game does attempt to dive into a character’s backstory or motivations, the result is almost always ridiculously overwrought, complete with swelling musical cues that try their best to evoke utterly unearned emotion through ridiculous circumstance.
If you don’t think about it too hard, perhaps you can let the contrived pseudoscientific theories, pop philosophy, and overly direct symbolism wash over you. But if you’re hoping for a coherent, well-told plot full of relatable characters, you have to look elsewhere.

Without spoiling anything, I’ll note that Death Stranding’s ending is more or less a two-hour cut scene that tries to explain how the preceding 30+ hours are actually supposed to fit together… yet I still came away scratching my head about what the hell happened.
2 HOUR ENDING?!...Just let me know at wich moment i should save my game before triggering the 2H ending so i can get my body ready for it...
"The Walking Simulator" without SHENMUE's "The WAITING simulator" i guess
Will wait for 2020...

Unfortunately it seems like the reviews confirm that it's more style than substance, and said style, while it does have its moments and stratches something that could have been really great, but doesn't really manage to fully deliver. Feels like it's stuck between being a masterpiece and a rather empty shell in the end.
I had some Evangelion vibes from what seems to be the general idea of the game, which piked my interest, but I fear it's too convoluted for its own good and ends up missing its target.
Like you, I'm pretty glad someone like Kojima exists and has gotten enough traction to make his weird ideas and unique gameplay elements come to life - but I also wish he kept substance in mind, but he doesn't seem bothered by that, to him style is substance, which is only true to a limited extent.
Such seems to be the case with that 2 hours-long final cutscene: it's ballsy to go for something like that provided that it manages to make the risk worth the while - and that "while" has to be pretty substantial to make the player swallow that pill. MGS games are notorious for being a constant cutscene, and I don't really dig that - at all, I'd rather go watch a good movie
Sometimes, I wonder if he shouldn't attempt using a medium other than videogames.
I'll probably try this out of curiosity when it comes to PCs, but I can patiently wait with no issue Or I'll just read some analysis of the story by someone knowledgeable in Kojimanism and be done with it
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
If you're able to get immersed in the world I see no problems with that gameplay. Not everything needs to be pewpewpew kaboom kaboom every 2 seconds...
At least they're creating a new franchise for it instead of butchering an already existing one.

Dunno i think i rather go hiking in real life at least the landscape looks far more interesting where i usually go , seriously is anyone actually watching this and thinking yes walking in a video game trough barren landscapes for a few hours with an annoying baby crying every few minutes is fun?
