It really is. Great game, but picking up an item slowly for the 600th time and watching the same animations repeat OVER AND OVER ugh. W3 had sidequests that were better than most games main quests

^ Might be moddable to just skip the animation and grab the loot instantly? In SP, anyway.

I like slow games with story, I enjoyed Witcher 3's side quests. |
W3 sidequests were fantastic because of story AND gameplay. This has good story, the rest is annoying |
Meh, I don't know what was that great in The Witcher 3's gameplay? 99% of the time it was "go there, use witcher sense, follow red stuff, talk to or kill something/someone, repeat". A lot of things were used only a couple of times, like the illusions dispelling talisman or the ghost lamp. There was barely something else to do. Some of the very few exceptions from the boring sameness were the wedding festival with Shani, the dissing battle or the "Summon the bitches!". Everything else was just doing the same thing but with different characters/enemies. Combat was average and didn't really make the gameplay any better.
Every the story wasn't that good. The ones I can say were great are the Wolverine in the garden, Heart of Stone and the Crones. Well and some other nice ones like the cannibal couple in the woods or when you visited those weird places in time. Some cool touches with different books here and there but that's all about the story. Overall I would say W3 is massively overhyped and most disappointing game of the last decade.
I am sure RDR2 will have better gameplay variety with it being a Rockstar games. They are good with that at least.

Is this a joke? Or sarcasm?
As for the abundance of animations in RDR2, it's only a problem if you play it as a loot heavy RPG IMO. You actually don't have to pick plants, skin animals and whatnot that much in the game.

Well, that can be easily modded for the PC. Animation skipping will be perhaps some of the first mods.

Well, don't they? GTA games are some of the best open world games out there. They had bowling, hunting, drug smuggling, races etc.
