Don't have noticeable problems with this game. No crashes, no stuttering, no hitches. Sure fps is not too high, but I wasn't expecting that anyway, and at least it's smooth. I had a similar experience with Arkham Knight. All in all, I guess I'm very lucky with with my little gaming laptop
What gpu does your laptop have?
GTX 980M 8GB. It was high-end back in 2014, but still holding up strong with modern titles (but I also never play on a higher resolution than HD)
The tool removes black bars from the in-game cutscenes, cinematic cameras, shops and a number of other areas at 21:9 and wider resolutions. Since version 2.0 it also removes pillarboxing from the photo mode. Since version 3.0, it allows for custom FOV adjustment.

Very useful. I played for a few hours last night in first person mode with version 3.0. I play 2560x1440 and the maximum in-game FOV for first person was still way to low.
With the mod, I tap the F8 key about 13 times, not sure what the exact number of the FOV is now but it feels pretty close to what I usually play other FPS games at (usually 90-95).
It also never seems to get reset, which is nice. Usually FOV mods get reset everytime there is a cutscene, or level change, or something. This mod keeps it until you close the game.
Before the launcher update, I had a stretched minimap and my desktop res would set to some weird 1200 x smth, until I reset it after exiting the game after playing.
Right now, it seems alright, so whatever they did, it fixed more probs than just the crash at startup for some guys.
I expected a lil more out of this game though, the difficulty is ridiculous, the missions 'ok'ish', the menus and weapon wheel a pain in the ass.
31% completed by now, this better gets more interesting towards the end...

Storywise?
Not really, mainly the half of the game is: oh, lets rob something. The last parts are somewhat connected missions, but nothing major.

Thing I don't get is:
They are constantly talking about money, robbing stuff, blabla...when 2 hrs playtime could net me a gazillion dollars, with nobody coming even close to killing me (when in fact I can heal up with a multitude of potions and whatnot anyway), I am contributing more money to this bunch of crooks than they and their grandchildren could ever spent.
This game (like so many others) lacks a proper cash-drain. You're an outlaw, you should be short on money and items all the time, but yet the game gives me a feeling of owning the entire county more or less moneywise, being invincible on top of that.
I am getting the odd AC-Odyssey-feeling of rushing through the game with no challenge at all. This is so much catered to the casual gamer, that it bores the hell out of me.
I like the concept and the amount of work that went into the game, but really? It feels like a movie of some sort with easymode point and click in between and a LOT of riding.
If they had a least included some optional nightmare-setting of two-shots-you're-dead, broke all the time, no ammo whatsoever, being hunted all along and no platinum watches around every corner...well...
It's a good game for sure, but hell, I am feeling underwhelmed...all the praise beforehand and then...ah well nm.

The "Rags to riches" experience in RPG's is the most fun part.. unfortunately the games you mention are not RPG's, they're casual games with some RPG influences. I'd die for a proper AssCreed RPG or rockstar RPG, but it won't happen... the casual gamer would go crazy if the character he's playing is actually really weak in the start.

Well tbh the difficulty seems a little too easy, but I think mostly because of the glorious MB+KB instead of the derptroller, played it a bit on PS4 back in the day and got my arse kicked quite frequently (I also disable aim-assist when possible, can't stand it, but I remember using it on this game). I've never get used to controller+shooters combo because I ain't much of a console player except for the good stuff like GoW for example.
The characters are great, VA is excellent and the world is one of the most immersive in recent games, combining with all the attention to the details and such, I guess having such features are kind of a "tradeoff" from the story itself not being that great, and we can't get both because... Well, we all know the reason don't we?
I hope this gets the propper modding attention down the road like increased enemy damage output/realism, weathers and other stuff like in GTAV, let's just hope R* don't get butthurt like they did on GTAV modding (which is something to be very expected unfortunately)
The difficulty definitely needs to get modded.. what a walk in the park it is.
I forgot about the sniper-rifles. I stopped using those, as it is just ridiculous. Get into cover, bang every head that's popping out from a distance, without getting hit once.
I mostly rush onto any enemy wave with my handgun only, but even that doesn't get me killed. And console players had autoaim? REALLY?!
I tried enabling play hdr games in windows display and increased brightness for sdr content.
If I don't enable hdr option in windows 10 game does not shows hdr option in game and with enabled the game is completely washed out windows 10 LTSC 1809
So I just jerked 35€ on Rockstar for this game. I think thats worth it for the single player experience.
