He's always been bashing on the more unique games while praising copypasta shit like shadow of war or other EA/ubishit games, hence I can't take anything he says seriously. Doesn't help that he thinks he is a comedic genius with his boring shtick.
Guys I have to go out but can't stop reading these comments, I am literally in tears with some of the comedy writing of my subs, you guys are hilarious.
I thought he was going to stop reading comments after his last meltdown? Does he still have that nice lady who deletes anything he doesn't want to see? Poor Mac. I'm gonna donate.
Didn't you dOnAtE already? You were our src for the dRaMa the last meltdown.
And it actually matters when you find out who was the guy who wanted you to deliver it. Wasn't expecting that, especially the little secret behind it. Kojima tends to hide interesting stuff too deep sometimes. You might also miss on a few items unless you know where to look.
You also deliver
Spoiler:
a thermonuclear bomb and a few antimatter bombs
. So what?
Anyway, finished the game yesterday in 67 hours. Kinda started rushing it in the middle because of my vacation days coming to an end soon. I panicked i won't finish it in time. I wish i didn't because at a certain moment the story becomes a rollercoaster.
The game is sublime, excellent story and the gameplay (along with helping other players and getting help from them) becomes quite addictive. New toys make it easier for a while and then the game throws some more difficulty your way. Also the music is a masterpiece, especially Low Roar songs along with Silent Poets and BB's theme. The game's message was also a great moment. It's good to have a positive feeling thanks to the game.
The characters were also mostly excellent. The "main antagonist" was bland but after resolving the story there was a nice background that gives the person depth. Before the release i had mixed feelings about the names of the characters. Im used to Kojima giving strangely literal names but Deadman, Die-Hardman, Heartman? However, once i knew why they are named like this i wasn't even mad. Nice backstories and some great performances. Sam got the silent Kiefer treatmen. He had more lines than Venom Snake in MGS V but still it was too little.
The story is told through cutscenes, dialogue, e-mails and other documents. It is done a lot better than in MGS V imo. When i was nearing the end of the game i had mixed feelings about the story. But the ending(s) were a lot more than enough to make it a great experience. The humor was also something else in the game, i lol'd a few times Here is one example (not really spoilery but still) :
Spoiler:
I loved the interaction with other players (as in cooperation). It was nice for someone too acknowledge that i carried 200kg of material to build a road so that we can get those hard-to-deliver orders done. Or when you are fucked going up a steep slope of a mountain with the snow up to your knees and then you see it - someone made a shelter when you can catch your breath. Those moments were really something.
The cons (apart from those mentioned above) are mostly vehicles bugging (and Sam too although less frequently), no music during traversal (I liked the walkman in MGS V) and of course repeated standard orders but you do those to gain something so it does make sense to do them at least. Lack and/or simplicity of fighting might be a con but for the major part of the game traversal and weather is your enemy. Oh and there were a few instances where textures far away glitched and some fps drops.
EDIT: Also, the game at times is a bit too easy. Played it on hard.
I started a second completionist playthrough. Can't wait for the proper PC version.
Generally most of the criticism that the game gets is totally valid. Lack of combat, "boring" gameplay because of the long walks - i get it. It's just not something that bothers me. I was aware that i might not like the game because of it. But i did like it, very much so. So all the people writing "that game is not for everybody" getting flak - they were right.
Oh and Kojima is one of the monsters in the game. A clue? Look at your feet
There is also a few easter eggs from Horizon Zero Dawn. When i saw a tallneck i almost shat my pants. I thought it was an enemy ffs.
So the game would actually be better without the combat and just full on walking sim?
I think I might like it as a chill game with the pleasant music and visuals, but then the combat and also the stealth seem to break up the pace.
Why are people so angry about that? The blatant way that monster energy shit is implented made me chuckle the first time I saw it. After that... It's just there, who cares. Good on them to get some money out of it. People get so outraged these days.
I'm 30hrs into the game now, wawrzuls review mirrors my experience so far. It's an interesting game that kinda grabs you if you let it.

Holy fuck, do i envy you man Nothing beats the experience of taking 300 kgs of cargo through a snowy mountain in a whiteout It's a case of "what? i won't do it? hold my monster energy drink" Without the floating carriers tho, i don't know how we could manage to finish the game

On one hand yeah, exactly. But when you understand what Death Stranding actually is, what are those "ghosts" and why they catch people it's kind of understandable why combat was put in. Also "violence vs no violence" is one of the point of the story. It's what Kojima lifted from Kobo Abe - the stick and the rope. A weapon can be used in many ways and all that.
As for the whole monster energy debacle - it's just another "oh my god, america is great - we have to put this shit in our game so it is cool!". I kinda felt sorry for Norman and his kidneys when he chugged it (it raises your max stamina till next rest so it is worth it). Fortunately another beverage appears later on And it only affects your liver
Anyone know how how to get the Novelist's son into the network? Did a few orders but can't get him to join yet, and his area is the last one I need to finish building my road.
I was waiting for your words of wisdom. Constructive, as always.

I think you only have lost cargo to get him. However its location is randomized - i saw people saying it spawns in different places. Don't know what kind of people you have on the server but fortunately the guys on mine have built a lot of watchtowers to make scouting cargo easier.
I dont get this game. All the hype and a few friends loving it...
It seems just like watching a movie, where you have to put in effort. Sort of like watching a movie with the TVs power hooked to a stationary bike you have to pedal to keep it on, and the creator tells you you have to "As its part of the movie's experience".
99% about the story 1% about game play, but 99% about tediously and frustratingly wasting time to get 1% more of the story to progress.
