I doubt it as well. The shader mostly does indirect lighting and ray-traced ssao

Both of which, at least on Ultra, RDR2 already does very well on it's own.

Also why is Rockstar always limiting their Fov sliders so hard?

The game is hardly playable in first person, especially on my 21:9 monitor.

Which is a shame because it's miles more immersive in first person and it works in this game surprisingly well.

Except on horseback, first-person on horseback is ass.

Because the narrower the FOV, the less there is to render on screen, and the better the performance. That's why all console titles have narrow FOVs. When you are running on a toaster, you have to take every performance gain you can get, and FOV is an easy win.

First person actually performs worse, as they change the LOD distances, so you see higher detail further away, which gives a performance hit.

When I was talking with the lead dev of Surviging Mars
he told me that many functionalities were artificially cut/not made as they wanted
because the game was supposed to work on EVERY XBOX, not just the latest
imagine the constrains imposed by that Laughing

heh I wish I was rich. Paying off bounties all of the time. Like the XBox version, this game is too touchy on getting flagged as a suspect on a road even if you didn't kill the guy

Maybe it's like gta5, where animals could report your crimes....

Nobody knew that until it was released on PC and we got access to the files Wink

I don't get why Rockstar can't provide patchnotes with the release of an update. Was the same with GTA V, it took them sometimes days to release the patchnotes.

Same reason they did not have any Epic store info up till a day or 2 before the actual release, they want people to buy it via the Rockstar Launcher till the Steam release mid December.

Yea I backed them up as well long ago, you always need to change the version part in the xml to whatever their newest is for it not to be reset.

Really don't know why they do this.

I don't think they trust people to set their own settings.

Which I can't blame them for tbh.

They released the patchnotes and I found this:

Quote:
Improvements to address an issue that resulted in all custom graphical settings reverting to a low preset when the game was updated

Any performance improvements after the latest patch?

(meaning this one: https://www.pcgamer.com/red-dead-redemption-2-patch-aims-to-fix-crashes-and-arthurs-quick-metabolism/)

From patch notes:

Improvements to address an issue that resulted in stalls on 4-core and 6-core CPUs

EDIT

Looks like there's a new nVidia driver: 441.34.

Quote:
This Hotfix driver addresses the following:

Red Dead Redemption 2 Vulkan: Stalling on some systems with 4-core and 6-core CPUs
Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Game may crash when launched in DX12 mode.

It's becoming obsolete really fast whatever you may feel about Win7 vs Win10.
