funny, it did felt very star wars atmospheric, but the usual star wars vibe is the most i hate, like every star wars media has to cross out on a big list all the same shit, like look how cute bd1 is ohhhhh, wookies and wookie planet, soundtrack, the pg content like its made for kids etc. but the game did felt like youre on an adventure which i liked, characters were well done, so even if you hate star wars its ok story wise.

so fuck star wars vibe and do something original for once, pleasing fans is one of the reason the franchise is like dead.

If you hate the Star Wars vibe why even bother playing a SW game to begin with?

Stopped playing after 8 hours, all those trying and trying again has killed any fun i had. Or probably i'm not so good at these kind of games.

Jesus this game is annoying. I can forgive bugs, enemies forgetting about me mid fight. Shitty combat, buggy overpowered animals. But the backtracking single-handedly ruins this game. You have to use the magical map that detects what is now open'able that wasn't before.

Also giant couple-tons-heavy monsters are able to auto-aim me mind-swing while I'm dodging away from them and in a different direction - so much bullshit

lol wut

animals are not that overpowered, learn to slow or parry. as for shortcuts dont know what youre talking about, thats what happens when you dont explore. discovered the underground caves on first play so obviously the second time you come to the planet you go through the unlocked door far right when you land. same with other planets, takes a few seconds to get back on objective.

So to avoid backtracking through uninteresting levels... I have to explore them? lol wut

Kashyyk was much better in this regard. At the end there was a nice horizontal elevator straight to the ship <3

then go ahead and replay the whole map again like a moron then complain on forums lol wut

and that underground zone you find it pretty straightforward after you get the push power and need to get back on ship so not really exploring, just like the wookie planet its pretty straightforward. finding shortcuts is a main mechanic in a souls game so if you find yourself backtracking obviously you missed something

Finished it good game but i like Code Vein way better from the recent souls like titles this is more like a classic action adventure with souls like combat though so i'm not even sure if it's actually fair to compare both games.

Jedi Fallen Order doesn’t reinvent the wheel with its gameplay that leaves to be desired. What it does instead is spin it further in a direction that gives hope to the starved fans of the Star Wars franchise. It’s not groundbreaking, but it shows EA that success can be found in singleplayer games without the need for microtransactions.

Pros:
+ Pleasant visuals
+ The combat system has its moments of glory
+ Intricate level design
+ Audio design

Cons:
– Generic story
– Plenty of technical shortcomings
– Extreme backtracking
– Performance issues
– Boring collectibles

Just started playing it, and I find it quite light for a 'souls' game. So far I haven't encountered any real tough enemies. The hardest beasts seem optional (so far at least). I got my ass kicked by the toad when I came across it and haven't went back yet Very Happy
For me this is a good thing, as I'm not a big fan of the super hard, Sekiro type games. So I was disappointed and hesitant to try it first, but so far I'm enjoying it. Seems like ages since I played a decent Star Wars game.

Yeah as i said above i also see it more as a star wars themed action adventure with souls like combat then a real souls like but that is really not a bad thing considering it's been ages since we got a good action adventure.

C'mon be fair despite it's shortcomings it's definitely a 7 to 8 and the best thing coming from Star Wars in years.

Completed, I didn't have much hopes since it's SW and a EA game, but

Gameplay was a light version of the Souls game, a nice touch. Really enjoyed the visuals and the sounds, but the best part for me is that it made me consider watching and immersing myself into the SW universe, I haven't seen the movies ( probably the old trilogy since I was a kid, so I don't know much about it ). I did play the old KoToR games which I really enjoyed. Characters were strong, very nice detailed, mo-cap game is tops. Been long since I played a game that ran this smooth with high details.

8/10 for me - this game is a breath of fresh air for EA, hopefully they learn something out of it, good job Respawn.

In an ideal world they'd use this as a strong basis, pump more money and talent into it and make a great sequel. In this world though, EA will probably fuck it up once the smell of potential monies hits the big bosses' noses.

This game makes me fell very sad cause with every decent single player SW game it reminds me of how epic it could be if some CDPR-like company would make KotOR 3. This universe has so much potential for RPG game that it just tears me inside to not see one...

I'm with garus on the 5/10.

+ Lightsaber combat was not shit
+ Graphics were nice (apart from certain areas looking a bit... rushed)
+ BD-1

- HORRIFIC level design
- Use of backtracking clearly to artificially increase the gameplay length. Very lazy.
- More climbing than The Climb
- LOOK! You NEED to climb HERE! RIGHT HERE! See these REALLY obvious vines? Yup, you climb RIGHT here.
- No.. you can't jump up THERE.. you need to go HERE. Even if it LOOKS like you can jump there.. we don't want you to.
- Stormtroopers suddenly can shoot straight and unerringly accurately
- Horrific pattern-based boss battles - boring, predictable and totally unlike what you'd expect for lightsaber combat (for proper boss battles, see Jedi Outcast/Academy)
- Storyline boring, safe and consisting of very safe non-lore affecting shite.
- Forgettable characters. The only remotely interesting one was Merrin and she was woefully underused.
- Spam rolls still taste unappetising. Parry system SHOULD have worked well...but just didn't.
- WAY too short. Absolutely no reason to play again.

5/10 is being generous.

Exactly.

I realize we haven't had a decent SW game in years, but to give this half polished turd 7,8 or 9/10 is fucking ridiculous.

It just doesn't deserve it. The only thing that's good in the game is something Respawn had nothing to do with, which is sound.

The gameplay is horrible. How in the world do Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy STILL have ludicrously better lightsaber and Force power combat, is beyond me. Jedi Outcast was released in 2002 ffs.
And whoever thought that shoving that Dark Souls, gameplay stretching garbage mechanics of respawning enemies after resting needs to be fired from a canon into the sun.

It's just appaling how little the game does to make you feel like a Jedi.

It's a goddamn crime against the entire gaming industry itself that we haven't had a true followup to the likes of Dark Forces, Outcast, and Academy -- to not even say anything of KoTOR.

Sad
