I think the news that The_Flow is looking for kernel exploits is far more important.

The bug was very limited any way as it was only works on certain FW's.

We can say that the PS4 hacking scene is clinicaly dead. There are so many FW out and only 5.5 is hacking "in private". I will finish my 5.05 games and probably upgrade to the latest FW.

And the Xbone has survived entirely. Not a single working hack, no gameshare hacks or tricks, no kernel exploits, no backups. Quite scary really when you think about it. Hackers apparently just didn't care since you can convert any model Xbone to a "homebrew capable" (Rolling Eyes) devkit just with a few official MS commands.

As in.. there's no homebrew, just some sideloaded Win10 apps like RetroArch. Even when Microsoft officially lets anyone and EVERYONE have a devkit conversion from the Xbone.. very few, if any, take up the mantle.

No homebrew, no piracy, no exclusives. The Xbone is a hilarious platform Laughing

I sold my Pro + VR with four games last month for £500. I figured that the value would drop like a stone the closer it got to the PS5 release. Waiting for a hack seemed futile and £500 has got me:-

H200 case
Corsair 750x
Arctic Liquid Freezer 2
Team Group 8Pack 16gb 3600mhz cl16
ROG Crosshair VIII Impact x570 (incorrect listing price honoured Smug )

Seemed like a much better use of my resources and I'll be ready to go all in for Nvidia and AMD's next offering in the summer. I may give console gaming a swerve next gen unless Sony's next offering is on par with Microsoft. At the very least I'll wait a year or so until there's plenty of decent exclusives.

I think they want to hack it but MS just learned a lot from their mistakes in xbox 360 security and they fixed all those holes. Sad

Its also possible that they finally found something and just don't want to waste it on xbone anymore as next xbox is relative close for release.

Their tactic must be the single most effective tactic of them all. Namely to not make any interesting games worth hacking it for.

Here's a summary of the blu ray hacking talk that was mentioned earlier:

Yup, another magnificent "IT'S NOTHING!" year for the PS4. But hey... it finally received an (unofficial) port of RetroArch with a multitude of functioning cores, including PCSX-R, so that's something I guess?

nice to see something happening...

but as per usual, as long as these cunts keep their kernel exploit private it's nothing tangible

eboot are still encrypted, so you still need keys to decrypt (or debug executables)

Yeah, I was excited at first until I remembered about EBOOTs still being encrypted Sad It's all well and good being able to extract the PKG.. but without the keys to resign the EBOOTs then we're still at the same stage. Though, saying that, this *may* help with getting English localised files for 5.05+ titles that could be implanted into <5.05 Asian releases... such as Dragon's Crown Pro Very Happy

Won't happen, people only have the unreal engine 4 static key, so dev that forgot to change it still use it.

Your game doesnt use unreal 4

Well my game was bought legitimately on PSN after I was forced to update to 7.x anyhow... but yeah, it's not UE4 so I guess it doesn't apply. PSN "scene" has stagnated for years.. even the recent Retroarch port (thanks for waiting until my system is no longer homebrew capable, ffs....) is unofficial and didn't come from LibRetro themselves >_<

Looks like 6.20 was released in December 2018 and was superseded in March 2019 by 6.50. My last update was December 2019 to get the Spiderman GOTY content, so I'm out.

i am never stressed about these things. i always buy the console/handheld at the beginning and let it take dust until being hacked. never updated a machine to be able to play a specific game. I never buy the first model of a generation, but try to buy the 2nd revision, mostly the hardware is better optimized by then. jesus fuck, I have games still to be played to survive a 3rd corona outbreak in 2056

Looks like when proper hackers got interested in the console hacks are coming sooner..

However it's obvious at this point a "latest FW" hack most likely will come after Sony will end supports for the System.

Older FWs hacks that will provide support for more games than 5.07 still coming but not for latest games yet.
