That's because it changed it up quite a bit, the verticality and SPEED were great Very Happy My problem with 3 isn't what it it was.. but rather what it wasn't... and that's the amazing version that was first shown off before it was all stripped back and streamlined Sad

Yeah, sure, but what was out was great, I liked the story. Not so much the extensions.

The shooting wasn't all that good in the first one. Actually, it's no the series strongest suit, but it did improve in the following titles. This made quite a difference, gameplay wise.

They also refined the power ups (or whatever they were called in 1 and 3), so in 3 they were just more interesting and fun to use. But mainly the verticality of the combat, even if not what Con Lievine promised, it was still satisfying. Also the music. Laughing

Bioshock is definitely in my top 10 favorite games of all times. I didn't like the story of 2 & 3 as much.

Oh don't get me wrong, please, none of them are "perfect" (well, Bioshock 1 was pretty damned close....) and I acknowledge that all three have their issues, but I still think they were excellent games Smile

Nothing wrong if you like it, in the end that is the purpose of it.

I wanted to like it, i was really pumped, but the way disappointment hit me….ahhh Sad

I replayed the first two Bioshocks a couple of years back with the obligatory tweaks (FOV, downsampling + Reshade etc.) and was actually surprised by how I liked the second one from a gameplay standpoint. It's obviously an experience that's nowhere near as atmospheric or powerful as the first (unforgettable Very Happy) one, it's filled with cheap deja-vu's and various unremarkable sub-stories, but..the main plot isn't a disaster, the multi-layered levels themselves are interesting to explore and the combat has a nice sandbox-y feel to it. The Minerva's Den DLC is especially worth playing as well.

Bioinfinite sadly lost a great deal of what classifies as -Shock, but I still found it engaging and memorable. As far as linear scripted narrative-driven shooters go, it did almost everything right in my opinion. Having said that, for me no Bio could manage to replicate the amazing experience that the good old System Shock 2 offered back in the day, before Shodan360 corrupted the PC memory blocks and permanently implanted the gimping module Sad

2 was ridiculously bad.

Meh enjoyed all of them, even 2 (mostly due to the gameplay). I'll gladly play the new one.

I'd agree to an amazomg barren and useless open world only if they release it on the Epic Gaemz Store and sell it 34897239857298347293847928374 million times (according to Tim).

What I reckon most people here would want is the better version of "streamlined corridors", that is something even more akin to what it was trying to mimic, aka SS2/Deus Ex.
Semi-open world bullshit can kiss my left nut Very Happy

I have very fond memories of Bioshock 1, but it's mainly related to the atmosphere and its story - and also the personal memory that we played it through with a friend for a entire day and night, taking turns playing.
Bioshock 2 felt noticeably weaker, and Infinite was alright.

https://comicbook.com/gaming/news/bioshock-4-ps5-exclusive-rumor/

Quote:
It sounds like the upcoming release of BioShock 4 could end up being exclusive to PlayStation 5--at least for a set period of time. Although 2K Games and Sony hasn't announced anything of this sort just yet, a new rumor from a reliable industry insider has made clear that PlayStation is looking to snag the upcoming BioShock as an exclusive release for its own platform prior to potentially coming to other platforms.
