I googled and there were some demos on hardware and Quest was listed. I guess via Link.
Yup, Alyx on Quest+Link. The official 5m fiber optic cable was just released.
Yes, but everything is playable via Link so it doesn't make it any more impressive than playing Tetris via the Link cable, or whatever.
If it was really running on the Quest, now, that would have been impressive, to get such a game running on a Snapdragon.

Pistol Whip is fun just wish there were more songs and you could customize the songs as I'm not too keen on the tracks, I like maybe 2/3 of them.
But damn were my legs and core hurting the next day haha. That's what I get for not cycling at all in 2019 and living a sedentary lifestyle.
Tried Wrath of Asgard as well, but wasn't really sold on it. But probably that's the motion sickness talking. I'm not getting as sick as when I tried Tomb Raider and can stand walking around in Wrath of Asgard for 20/30 minutes, so we'll see once I get better at not getting sick. I was literally stuck at the mead hall for a couple of days before I managed to be able to handle the motion sickness.
Dance Central is also pretty fun, but that's probably because I know some of the songs. Need more songs in the vein of September.
My only real problem now is the sweat on the face leaving the foam thing on the headset damp haha.
The brilliantly talented and promising Tsiakalis-Brown (19 yo, ex-Valve intern) has announced he will release a remastered version of Vertigo (the VR game he released when he was 17?), updated with all sorts of things he figured out while making the upcoming Vertigo 2 (which looks really good).
Announcing Vertigo Remastered. A complete overhaul of the 2016 title utilizing modern tech, brand new systems created for Vertigo 2, updated level designs, enemies, and bosses.

More info coming soon.
Vertigo has plenty of flaws to fix, and that's exactly what this project is for. I'm building on all the systems work I've done for the sequel, Vertigo 2, over the past two years.
The art doesn't look updated, sadly, but the mechanics are those of modern VR.

No new content as far as I know, it's just Christmas, the game is on sale, it's a popular VR game, and a bunch of people just got their first VR headset thanks to HL:A and Boneworks hype.

What's the best VR Racing Sim? Or maybe a game that's just a chill drive around town (so I don't get motion sick)?
Might pick up one of those Logitech steering wheels.
As far as I know, both Project Cars 2 and Assetto Corsa have pretty solid VR implementations, they're simulative titles based on track racing (no open cities), but they can be accessible to newcomers as well (especially the former). For some relaxing driving around though I believe Euro Truck Simulator 2 is easily the best choice available. Then on the other side of the spectrum you have the hyper-stressful Dirt Rally
Thanks! Never thought I'd ever get ETS, but here we are haha.
But it seems perfect for what I want, don't want to get anything too fast paced because I might end up vomiting. I mean just looking at Dirt Rally youtube vids with a first person view makes me feel a bit queasy haha.
Nvidia's latest drivers introduce the option to use Variable Rate Supersampling (VRSS). Basically, with it enabled you can have SSAA enabled only to the center of the screen, the most important part of the screen in VR, and leave the rest untouched, sparing dozens of frames that would be lost otherwise due to how expensive SSAA is.
The feature will work on any DX11 game with a forward renderer and MSAA support.
Really great stuff for VR, and a welcome advancement until proper foveated rendering begins a reality.

forward rendering is quite often preferred for VR so their efforts are not misplaced, although i admit i don't know how supersampling the center of the screen is going to look
Forward rendering, due to its MSAA support, is preferred by many for sure.
Some of the biggest VR games use a forward renderer, including HL:A.
The bad thing is the DX11 limitation, because HL:A and others are Vulkan and so on.
Still, the implementation already covers 2 of the biggest VR games, Boneworks and Pavlov. That's a win.

It's quite noticable. Espacially in Robo Recall for me
But to see the GPU Usage jump from 30-40% to 80% isn't really worth it imo.
GPU gets louder, it gets hotter, more power consumption - all for a little less shimmer.
I would have preferred a variable MSAA that doesn't cover the corners of the FOV to actually save some performance, not cost it. Instead of the usual all-FOV MSAA.
Devs gotta start copying Echo Arena. That game uses some TAA+sharpening magic I believe, or MSAA+TAA sharpening magic.
Either way it's butter smooth and sharp, even on distance. No shimmer in sight.
While I didn't love that approach for RDR2 on a proper screen, it works nicely in VR.
Anyone else tried Walking Dead Saints & Sinners?
Seems like a great game so far! (3 hours in or so)
Not perfect but a lot of it works well. Stabbing zombies in the head is very satisfying and just going around scavenging stuff for crafting and survival is great.
I just wish you could open cars and stuff and enter all the buildings instead of only select ones.
it's probably being held back somewhat by the Oculus Quest and PSVR versions. Probably also why there was no physical crouching on release (can enable that in beta form now) which was soo weird. Like I would duck in real life and the camera in game would rise to balance it out. That was really bad, but it's fixed now.
Definitely designed for a seated experience there.
still, some of the most fun I've had in vr yet
One time I accidentally dropped my gun at some point and only noticed when I tried to grab it from my belt as 3 zombies were right on me and it wasn't there. Fuckers almost got me but I shook em off and grabbed some nearby bottles, shattered the against a table and stabbed some heads.
legitimately panicked there for a second though!

It is a fun game, true, sadly i get sick from playing VR for more than 2hours.

MSAA is a relic of the past. And compared to modern temporal solutions, it's not impressive at all, especially given high-frequency detail in modern geometry and textures.
