Triss in the show is a miscast IMO

They MADE her ugly. Check the photos from the London premiere. She is gorgeous there and looks like proper Triss (except for her hair color)

Of the main cast, Triss is indeed the worst casted. Yennefer convinced me after episode 4.
Foltest was disappointing.

The blackwashing, like the part in Brokilon, is pretty annoying though. Plus, no dryad tits?

Many say they enjoyed it not knowing the lore. The main problem is to piece together the timelines. But, to be honest, you just have to pay attention and that's it.

Not my cup of tea but she does look a lot better IRL.

I'm pretty much aligned the same way. Even the TW1 dryad Morenn was better Laughing

Yennefer for a while was a typical bitchy empowered wahmen but she convinced me in the end. The scenes with her and Tissaia near the end were interesting. They had a nice mother-daughter chemistry/lovehate going on.

And FFS Foltest sucked balls. I loved him in the beginning of TW2. A great, but deeply flawed leader. A no-nonsense kind of guy though capable of incest. Not that Emhyr is above it (didn't make it in the end though).

RottenTomatoes averages (if you want to go by that) proof her right: 93% audience score (vs 56% critics)

I find it unbelievable how much I liked Henry in this one Very Happy I'm rewatching a few sequences, it's almost like he's channeling Geralt from the game. Good job my man.
I hope this gets more monies for second season for more Geralt fights. I want to see Igni!

After watching the whole season is find it mediocre. There's definitely signs of brilliance, but the confusing timeline of the various stories really lets it down. Like we're supposed to see like what a 100 years of Yen? Her changes from ep to ep (sometimes from scene to scene) are supposed to have a ton of time between them, but you don't really feel it, so i was a lot of times left wondering "why is she obsessed with [spoiler] having a baby[/spolier]" oh its because she lived like 2-3 lifetimes already... It was kinda hard to get into that since 2 eps ago i watched her become a mage basically.

I'm also confused about magic in general, like when they are training they kill off flowers to make a rock levitate, but somethings apparently don't need to kill stuff? Maybe i'm missing something from games/books but mages didn't need to kill anything to make fireballs etc.

The final battle was just bad. Obvious budget reasons IMO, but all the powerful mages are really shit. They don't do anything, except towards the end when Yen does her thing. No idea why again.

Some casting choices were bad, Foltest looked like a drunk hobo, Fringilla is fucking horrible. Thank god Henry was great.

I'm hoping now that they have a story to follow it will be a bit more cohesive.

finished too and the timeline is like dunkirk where youre wtf at first but then by the end it makes sense but yeah, whats with the huge time passing between episodes? are the books the same? even if they wanted to show only the important things is still needed a little more development, like 1-2 ep more.

still it was ok but i expect more from next season given the huge popularity it got so shortly after release. curious if cd project red rides the hype wave and does witcher 4.

btw that toss a coin to your witcher song already has over 4mil combined views on yt lol

We'll obviously get more games from CDPR in this universe since they recently paid the creator even more money to establish a "better connection" with the greedy bastard.. I think they've said they're done with Geralt, which is fine, le me create my own character.. i'm guessing it'll be something like in many Conan games where you just meet the character, take quests from him etc..

There are two books with short stories in which significant time passes from story to story. Then you have the saga which is a continued journey over a short period of time, but even then you have time skipping in certain chapters. Then you have another book which was written by Sapkowski after the games were out and it implemented some popular elements from the games in its story. This last book is another time skip as it takes place before the main saga, but after some of the short stories, although some of these stories happen after the last book.

The Witcher timeline is one of the most disjointed pieces of fiction I've ever read. The world didn't even have a map except vague geographical placements until CDPR stepped in and made one with Sapkowski's help for Witcher 1. It gets so complicated that even CDPR made mistakes in some of its stories that they didn't mean to do.

Overall was worth it, hat down to cavill, geralt was awesome; yenefer did a good act as well but someone more mature would have been better. Major 2 negative points, writing and music, songs nowhere near those from witcher 3. I hope it lasts a couple of years but with more episodes, 8 is way too few.

When superman sounds like batman you know it's a fun show. 2 episodes in. Digging it. Not a show to watch under influence though.

It was pretty funny figuring out the different timelines at first Laughing
"Dude.. why is that guy a child now ?.. Oooohh !"

I'm rather enjoying this, about 5 episodes in Smile The differing timelines are pretty tiresome to be honest, but I'm waiting for how they're being resolved in the end to pass judgement.
Cavill is great as expected from someone who's genuinely fond of the base material.. I remember people mocking his acting back when he was introduced as Superman (which I think he absolutely nailed as well), he's just a great guy all around Very Happy
Yeah, I do have a slight manboner for him Laughing

Episode 2 was a bit boooring. And what is up with Geralt just stumbling on that important character?

Also, I haven't read the books but african elves seem like a retarded idea and out of place, is this a Netflix thing or was this in the books? Are there latino elves or asian elves, too? Laughing

most of all it seems racist. "these poor poor people needs the RePreSenTatioN!"

I'm 100% sure its only white people who's even thinking like that because they're clueless racists who have absolutely zero African / colored friends, so its them who needs the fucking REpReSenTatIOn. "Wee! Look at us! We're not racists!"

When people are so on the nose on things you can tell they're full of shit.

Interbreeding?
Or maybe black elves evolved in the south - the mystical jungle elves - and this is one of the ancestors. They're right next to the black desert dwarfs btw which we'll see in S2. Laughing
