Just watched episode 5, awesome! That song at the end credits! Nice touch,
I like that its has lesser scope than GoT so they can focus on these small stories, but its still cool and there are so many things happening here, that are referenced in the games that make it interesting. I should read the books, I know. But I enjoy this show.
Surely you mean the song at the end of episode 2
Read the first book (actually several short stories) - The Last Wish. I remember reading it through to the end in one take. If you are wondering how it reads/sounds like there is a video on yt where Cavill reads a fragment.
Then again Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse was one of the best films about Spidey and he was black. Granted, he was foreshadowing the original Peter Parker, but... who cares? He fitted the role.
They actually went out of their way to explain it and it worked out great.
Oh well, I guess with the same reasoning, I'm sure you wouldn't mind a mix of ethnicities in Kingdom Come Deliverance either. After all, it's just a video game and not real history.
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.
Truly gone fishing.

A game that praises itself on being historically accurate. Yes indeed. You picked a great example there.
Honestly, the Netflix adaptation is an american take on the Witcher. And thats all there is to it. British sounding and looking actors, because thats how Americans imagine aristoracy in the middle ages. Mixed ethnicities because that represents american population nowadays and of course there is some american social politics in there. Yennefer saying "Dee took mah choice ." (I don't know if thats what she says in the books, but it sounded modern to me. etc. blablabla.) And even Jaskier making some americanized version of middle-age Minnesang. But of course its the same people always complaining about ethnicities first, because thats the most important issue. Complain about bad acting instead.
I bet if it would have been a european production, there would be less of an ethnical mix and less americanized stuff (obviously). But thats how it has always been with Hollywood. You don't have to watch it.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

And then someone would complain it's not diverse enough...you truly can't win no matter what you do.
Haven't watched this yet, but I do have the urge to play Witcher 3 again. Time to install mods.
Just finished. Apart from the sometimes jarring jumping between time periods, it was a pretty good watch. Wouldn't call it amazing, but I definitely enjoyed it. Started downloading TW3 half way through.
My biggest pet peeve was actually Ciri. The performance was good, but her eyes gave me the creeps at certain moments. I think mostly because they dyed the actress' eyebrows white, and sometimes it looks as if she had none at all.
Also, I have no idea why the internet is so in love with that "toss a coin" song. Although, given today's popular shit they call music, I guess even passable mediocrity is like manna from heaven for them.
Cause as shit as it is, it's catchy.
To me it felt out of place, but the song memed itself into the real world.
I think for me the issue with the song was that it felt...modern. Too many long notes sung by Dandelion, that's not really what I imagine when I think of troubadour music.

It did indeed feel completely out of place, I was mildly surprised they went for something as modern-sounding as that.. but I guess they nailed it, the song just sticks and won't let your brain go
The whole "toss a coin to your Witcher" thing had meme potential, it delivered, they must be pretty feeling pretty grand about themselves
Yes, she doesn't look like Triss in the games. But we haven't seen that much of her, so maybe they develop her better in the second season.

I don't find her ugly in the show, but I know this forum has very high standards when it concerns women. I didn't feel the need to pixelfuck Triss or Yennefer in the games though, so that might be it.
Yeah, she's not attractive at all. But this is a very normal complaint to hear mister_s, so perhaps it's you who have lower standards? Food for thought.
Fringilla tops it all though. But this is the humps so it's impossible to say what everyone is thinking without getting gangbanged by social injustice.
I don't find her type attractive, not a standards thing. I find the picture posted in this thread not beautiful btw, it's a pretty woman but that's all. I just don't see why she needs to look like photo(shop) model in the show.
I have the same with the woman playing Yennefer btw. Pretty, but not really wow look so beautiful. I do like the actress though, she did a great job.
